Sigismund is a normal HQ choice, not a LoW and essentially does the Preator Job better than a Preator - he is one, after all.

Otherwise:

Apothecaries cannot join Templar. Only a Primus Medicae can.

Better off taking a Normal Terminator Squad vs a TDA Command Squad. Besides the Fearless Banner (Sigismund has the Rule anyways), they aren't really doing anything a normal TDA Squad isn't besides being able to challenge.

5 More Templar - put them + Sigismund in the Spartan. Charge out and strike at I5 S+1 due to FC and have Sigismund Murder anyone willing to accept a challenge. Followed by the Champion doing the same if there is another character in the unit. Also, Combat Shields. Makes them TEQ in CC with a 2+/5++. Bonus points if you slap in a Primus Medicae for FNP and another Solarite Power Gauntlet Source with a Boarding Shield for Defensive Grenades.

17 Man Tac Squad with Extra CCW that isnt in a transport rushing forward is a sunk cost and points you could have better spent since they'll be doing more shooting than fighting.

I'd personally swap them to Tac Vets and use Pride of the Legion for Sniper BS5 Bolters / Heavy Bolters and/or Tank Hunting Melta Bomb Squad. Though if you use Melta Bombs, a Dreadclaw is near-mandatory. Otherwise, Sniper Bolter Squads are just fine in Rhinos or camping out a spot.

Cataphractii excels at two roles: Charging out of a Transport geared for CC (storm shields, yo) or as a Long-ish Ranged Fire Support unit due to Slow and Purposeful. I wouldn't Deepstrike these at all since they can't run and overwatch. If you're taking 5, also give them a Dreadclaw to assault out of. Or a Land Raider Phobos.

Otherwise, you're better off with Tartaros / Indomitus since they can run when needed and can still have a 3++ thanks to our Storm Shields.

Beyond that, you're lacking in Anti-Air and Anti-Tank.

I'll second the 10 man Templar plus PM + siggy in a spartan butt kicking train.

Also- a deredero is your friend. Throw in a Lightning fighter with some awesome AT missle love and your golden on Aa/AT fun.

Also... 20 man blocks of dudes are HH as all get out... But you kind of need 2 and supporting HQ and apotecaries. Or vet squads with assigned roles.

Flamer or plasma support squads are also a bunch of fun as long as you have a transport for them.

Welcome to the glorious yellow

I'd drop all the plasma pistols in the list. They are really overpriced, and generally don't do a whole lot. Plus on a combat unit line Templars, you could take out a few models with pistols then make charging harder.

Also what are you using the veteran squad for? They look like they are built for anti tank, but they don't have melta bombs or the tank hunter rule. They should have both. The alternative is give them sniper and 2 heavy bolters. With your bs5 buff that's really good unit for fists.

Lastly you really need transports for the vets and support squad. Footslogging is awful for them they just can't get in range to fully use their weapons. Drop all the plasma pistols and maybe 1-2 guys from the support squad and you have her pts for 2 rhinos.

Thanks for the advice Asvaldir!

So I've dropped all the Plasma Pistols. I actually also got rid of the Support squad with Plasma guns and gave them Volkite and dedicated transport. With the points I saved I gave myself a Legion Storm Eagle Assault Gunship.

Every squad now has a dedicated transport bar the Templars and HQ whom will all be getting in the Spartan Assault tank. How do you think it looks?

Which is the best Rite of War to take with this set up? I was thinking Armoured Spearhead.

How many points do you have Left over?

Id use it to swap the Power Fist on your Primus and Templar Champion to a Solarite Power Gauntlet.

Why?

Its not a specialist weapon (+1A for two cc weapons that arent specialist), Master-Crafted and Ap1 (blow up vehicles on a 5+ if needed)

For not much more points.

It means that the champion has 4 power fist attacks on the charge (2base, +1 for 2 ccw, +1 charge) vs 3 with a power fist sue to specialist weapon, same with the Primus going up to 5 attacks on the charge.

Id also swap the extra armor on your dread for an in-hand gun. Like a graviton gun or something.

Frag Assault Launchers are only useful for units charging out of it who dont have grenades. Templars are going in and have grenades so no need for that.

Transports for everything helps for sure. No need to run a RoW though, your army is good as is.

One change I might recommend is taking a lightning instead of a storm eagle with kraken missiles. One of the best anti tank options available and is a much better value for your pts then a storm eagle. Especially since the storm eagle isn't transportating anything, no need for it.

Okay, I've updated my list. I have 5 points left over now, anything that I can get with that which may be helpful? biggrin.png laugh.png

Upgrade the Primus' combat shield to a boarding shield. Lose an attack due to it restricting that but you get defensive grenades as an added bonus.

Also, since the Sol Glove is master-crafted, you dont need to pay for the option on the Templar Champion anymore

Done, with the extra points it gave me (10) I added Ground-tracking Augeries to the Lightning :)
