NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
Hi Everyone,Very new to the HH and I have began making an Atramentar Force. Can anyone give me advice about which weapon choices I should use with the Cataphractii Terminators and why? I'm also making a Terminator Primus medicae and Praetor, same question. What other Units/vehicles should I use to complement this force, and why? Thanks in advance for the advice! helterskelter
Mix and match for all eventualities. Give some sergeants a glaive, others an axe. Squad weapons you'll want at least one chain fist per squad and combi weapons of the plasma and melta variety. Take a predator squad either Magna melta or plasma or a mix thereof and a deredeo, or mortis contemptor. That's what I'd do anyway. Means you have stuff on the board definitely surviving to turn 2 when your termies come in to wreck face. And if you want some to start on the board take a raider or a spartan :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317263-nl-atramentar-force/#findComment-4254943 Share on other sites
Galron
What he said. Since you seem to be doing an orbital strike style army, you will need some forces there to start. I would play Orbital Strike itself and have some drop pods with guys in them for the first turn backed up by at least a Fire Raptor. You are seriously going to be under gunned. Maybe 4 termy squads, a fire raptor, 2 tac squads in drop pods, a couple contemptors in pods, and Sevetar(he is master of the Atramentar after all) and a vet squad in a pod, and fill the rest in with support squads, flamer squads are cheap and nasty bare bones in a pod, and scoring. Deathstorm drop pods are pretty awesome too and could as fast attack. Scratch the contemptors, forgot you were using all your elite spots. You might be able to put a deredeo in a dreadclaw though. depthcharge12
Axes as a minimum with some twin lightning claws sprinkled in. I'd definitely recommend taking only Cataphractii armor. I never saw the point of fists on regular terminators in 40k, but fists on 30k Cataphractii are all the rage. They are finally a unit tough enough to absorb all the attacks at initiative and then obliterate any unit in their initiative sub phase. For ranged weapons, I'd highly suggest taking the plasma blaster even though the auto cannon is a fun option, but won't do much. Lately I've been a proponent of taking combi plasma on as many guys as possible to thin out other 2+ save units in a cheap and efficient manner, all while keeping the benefits of a terminator unit. Edit: Autocorrect is stupid Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317263-nl-atramentar-force/#findComment-4254974 Share on other sites

Interesting...Yeah I was definitely wanting to just drop them into the middle of the enemy T2, what are the most reliable ways to do that? What he said. Yeah I'm planning to use Sevatar once I have him, I'm just talking about the things I currently have for now. (mainly just the BaC box plus 10 terminators and praetor) Axes as a minimum with some twin lightning claws sprinkled in. I'd definitely recommend taking only Cataphractii armor.I never saw the point of fists on regular terminators in 40k, but fists on 30k Cataphractii are all the rage. Also what size of units should I use, 5 or 10? So from what I have gathered, it seems like I should have a good mix of weapons for each unit so they can take on whatever they land near.Apologies for all the questions, thanks again for helping! Slips
Every Terminator can Exchange their Combi-Bolter for: A Combi-Weapon (Flamer, Melta, Plasma, Grenade [Frag OR Krak], Volkite) Volkite Charger. For Combi-Weapons I'd go all in or not at all. If you're using LCs, Might as well go double for 4 Attacks on the Charge. But, you could do without. However, for the same cost, you can take a Power Fist (iirc) so its up to you since, stock, Termies come with Combi-Bolters and Power Weapons (axe, sword maul specifically, no power lance). At that point its up to you: pay for Shred or S x2 OR Shred & +1A A good mix would be 3 Axes, 2 Swords to deal with 3+ and 2+ relatively ok. You can then, points allowing, easily swap this to 2 Fists, 1 Chainfist, 2 Claws (paired or otherwise). NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
I don't particularly like the power axes from forgeworld, do most people use them because I think I might I use something different?also I might counts as using the single power claw as a fist because of the rule of cool, but that could get confusing.I am definitely going to be getting a lot of combi weapons though, seems to be the dishonourable thing! Thanks for the advice. Slips
To turn a Finger-Claw into a fist, snip the pointy edge and file the resulting abrupt edge down a bit. Look at Abaddons (from FW) power fist as inspiration. Memento Of Prospero
To be honest, there will eventually be a release for them, so magnetizing your arms will reap HUGE dividents later on. Memento Of Prospero
It's part of the original design that all legions eventually get a terminator unit. When is the real question ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317263-nl-atramentar-force/#findComment-4256251 Share on other sites
