darkseren1ty
Greetings fellow and sister heretics So, I've recently purchased a FW Kytan Daemon engine which I can't wait to start gaming with. The model is great ...except for the pipe claw feet. I need ideas, what did you guys and girls do to change this? I contemplated using a soulgrinder or defiler body so I could get a spider walker type thing, but I don't think the size would match up. And I'm not about to shell out a whole bunch more for the brass scorpion (although I think those would be awesome). Alternatively, I thought about keeping the 2 legs, which are decent and posable, and merely swapping out the feet. The problem is... With what? Secondly, I googled long and hard trying to find color schemes for the Kytan, but everyone seems to go with a variable red, black and gold/bronze scheme. While I realize that those are Khornes colors, I'd like to do something different. My army, predominantly Tzeentch, is bone colored with brown, bronze or gold trim (depending on the ranking of the unit in the Warband) -at least for the infantry. My vehicles are black, bone, tan with bronze/gold detailing, except for my heldrakes which have unique schemes: one airbrushed with blue flames and the other with a space/celestial/galaxy airbrushed hull and both with gold trim. -I was hoping for Tzeentch DK so I could field both of them as a part of that army, but that didn't pan out. XD So... I was thinking, maybe base coat the Kytan black, then air brush brown, then tan, then bone, then white to get a bone color on the hull and paint the trim gold/bronze? Or perhaps a completely outlandish scheme might work better? I don't want it to detract too much from my army. As it is, while I love my heldrakes schemes to bits, they really stick out as outsiders of my army. carnosaur93
bone would look awesome i think, kinda like the atropos knight?.. i actually remember hearing something about that particular knight house going with the dark mechanicus during the heresy, so you could actually have your kytan be a daemon knight of that house if you so desired, it even roughly has the proportions of a cerastus from what i understand alternatively i think metallic blue could look really neat, if you were to also get rid of the "khorne stuff" as for the feet, i dont really think there is an easy fix, i personally hate them too, and i think your only bet is converting them or scratch-building something new entirely, i do see some potential for making them bird-like, though, for the tzeentch themes, just add some curved talons more or less. in that case though, remember to get rid of the khorne iconography :p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317325-kytan-color-scheme-and-feet/#findComment-4256391 Share on other sites
Trevak Dal
Would there be some way you could fuse the toes together, sort of like a satyrs hoof, though daemonimechanical? Greenstuff and liberal base debris decoration could hide a lot of sins. I straight up hate the khorne tractor model, and the kytan is the model they should have released in the first place (saying that...I wonder if the khorne tractors treads could be used to make a sicaran? Hmm...) I recall seeing a kytan torso on a defiler set of legs, and it was nicely and lovingly done by the converter but they still looked spindly for such a beefcake upper body.
