Frostmourne
"If the Warmaster has turned his back on Terra, what are my orders?" "Tell him his brother Rogal will have him answer for it" ++++++++++ "Do not look to us for kindness. Do not look to us for hope. We are not the kind children of this new age. We are the rocks of its foundation. If you wish hope then look to what we make. If you wish kindness then look to those who will come after us." ++++++++++ Here starts my new full time hobby project, a full breaching force of VII Legionaries led by the Crimson Fist himself, the Captain of the 405th, Alexis Polux. My plan is to theme this list completely on the defence of the board, or whatever i am fighting over. Once the Shield is in place, firmly planted in the name of Dorn, to strike hard and swift with the Hammer, in the name of the Emperor. Currently i have very little in the way of start up models beyond, miraculously, 10 Phalanx Warders and Alexis Polux. I also have Battle for Calth and a few little bits like Upgrade Spru's coming from Grandfather Winter in a week. The New Year will herald my adventure into the remarkable legion of the Imperial Fists. After a long chat with a few Imperial Fists players, and players who know me, i am so keen to make a hard nut to crack of a force, im not even that bothered about the "Win or the Lose", i imagine my force as a Speed Bump for the Traitors to overcome, one i intend to hold up for the as long as i can. http://i1308.photobucket.com/albums/s604/Frostmourne1138/IMG_0133_zpsg2affchq.jpg This is the most up to date picture of my WiP Phalanx Warders, they are only lightly glued to their base so i can do a better design for them. I am also in the hunt for better arms and legs for a few of them. ++++++++++ This is the basis for a list, based on models i own, and want, and will have post Xmas. HQ Alexis Polux -RoW - Stone Gauntlet Troops Legion Breacher Siege Squad -Artificer Armour and Thunderhammer on Sargeant -2x Melta Guns -Land Raider Proteus Legion Breacher Siege Squad -Artificer Armour and Thunderhammer on Sargeant -2x Melta Guns -Land Raider Proteus Phalanx Warder Squad -Artificer Armour and Thunderhammer on Sargeant -4x Power Axe -2x Plasma Gun Elites Contemptor Dreadnought Talon -Contemptor Dreadnought with DCCW and Multi-Melta Legion Rapier Weapons Battery -x2 Laser Destroyer Array Heavy Support Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought -Aiolos Missile Launcher -Anvilus Pattern Autocannon Battery Legion Spartan Assault Tank -Armoured Ceramite -Flare Shield Legion Vindicator -Twin Linked Bolter -Extra Armour Thats 2495. Any C+C please let me know, interested on how you think this will play and what i will suffer from? ++++++++++ In terms of painting them, i prefer the Darker Yellow, and i have a few paints on order as well as a few weathering products as i dont intend to batter them up too much. I also have an idea to paint some of the Dreads, Tanks, Sargents etc with the Black and Yellow themes as found in Book 3. Any thoughts on that? Having played two games with Imperial Fists in a 30k context, i have really enjoyed them, and found the Bolter enhancements to be amazing, the challenge rules to be hilarious if nothing else. In my last game Polux single handedly killed Zardu Layak, his Bladeslaves, an Ashen Circle Sargeant and then died to massed Ashen Circle attacks. But what a roadblock he was. Truly a Legend. It is my intent to expand this army further, with SA allies and potentially Mechanicum including Knights. And come February, Garro will be replacing the Contemptor for most of the Campaign games. Frostmourne
Its difficult to gauge because of his weird stance, but he is taller for sure. Also an Absolute King. Dantay VI
Hmmm converted he might make a good Jarl to lead my Space Wolf breacher squads... Are you going to go with yellow and black in the army, or do you plan to incorporate some dark blues as a hint to their future after the heresy? Frostmourne
No to be honest i intend to keep them Black and Yellow, more attributed to Veterans than becoming Crimson Fists. I hope anyway. And yes he would, if you look at my other log on there, I used another Polux model as my praetor for my Ultramarines and he was amazing. Find a head can be tricky though. I intend to use Sigismund as a stand in Champion until i get round to developing his army further too Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317333-wip-405th-company-vii-legion-the-retribution-fleet/#findComment-4256531 Share on other sites

Ironwithout
I've always been a big fan of the similarities between the Iron Warriors and the Fists and the fued between the 2. Which is why when I done my small force I tried to include the chevrons as an ongoing scheme. When I played my friends 30k Iron Warriors it looked fantastic! The most fun I had was playing Zone mortalis though. The Phalanx Warders, Breachers, Terminators and Dreadnoughts was great fun and seeing that much yellow on a board that dark and grimy looked amazing. The Big challenge I found with them though is the same one I am having now with my White Scars. Trying to make them look like real Imperial Fists as opposed to Marines painted yellow. ( hope that make sense ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317333-wip-405th-company-vii-legion-the-retribution-fleet/#findComment-4256557 Share on other sites
Frostmourne
Yeah definitely know what you mean there, it is a challenge, and one i cant wait to tackle when the paints turn up. What sort of tips do you have, what did you use? Ironwithout
For yellow? I kept it relatively simple. Averland sunset, agrax earthshade, yriel yellow and a bleached bone highlight. I have a link in my signature if you want to have a look what I mean. It may be too bright for what your after. Frostmourne
Merry Christmas to All, and to All a good Hobby Haul. Today has seen me receive my Betrayal At Calth and some Imperial Fist upgrade sprus. I shall be putting hem up for my Casual Gamer in January to see them done. Any special hints and tips as to what to use the basic Marines for? Tacticals? Vets? Any thoughts? Ironwithout
If you don't have them tacticals. They are cheap in comparison to breachers and at some point you will use them just to save points. I have 3 squads of 10 purely because of minimum 2 troops choices and the 3rd because a lot of the RoW's force an extra compulsory troops choice. Saying that I also own 60 breacher marines.... I think I have a problem lol And have a good Christmas bud Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317333-wip-405th-company-vii-legion-the-retribution-fleet/#findComment-4260748 Share on other sites
Lord Asvaldir
Vets with 2 heavy bolters and the sniper USR are awesome for fists, really let's you take advantage of bs5 bolters. Plus you can just run pride and then they are your mandatory troops, I'd make two units of them. Frostmourne
That sounds like a great idea. 2 Units of Vets plus a Heavy Support with the remaining marines and maybe even a Tactical Support too. That's 30 marines with some extra bits. Add in the Terminators and it's a good starting Pride of the legion force! Anyone got ANG tactics or tutorials for painting that darker almost browner yellow for pre heresy? Also on a heraldic point of view, when did they start using red for crests helms and a such? Thanks guys. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317333-wip-405th-company-vii-legion-the-retribution-fleet/#findComment-4262321 Share on other sites
Frostmourne
Painting up my Imperial Fists now ready for a tournament at the weekend. Does anyone have any idea of Imperial Knight/ Forgeworlds that IF would have most affiliation for? I mean obvious is simply Mars right, but I don't like the Red really :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317333-wip-405th-company-vii-legion-the-retribution-fleet/#findComment-4273592 Share on other sites
