Mars Pattern War Machines during the Horus Heresy

Recommended Posts

I know the MKIIC Rhino was around during the Heresy but what about the other War-Machines that GW (not Forge World) produces, such as the MKIIC Predator or Vindicator? I want to play fluffy with my Imperial Fists but I'm not a fan of the design of the War-Machines.

Very quick list of plastic 40k stuff that does not cross over:

  • Flyers. Ours are better / better looking anyways!
    • Stormraven
    • Stormtalon
  • All Land Raider Sub-Types (only the Phobos [standard Plastic LR], Achilles and Proteus are allowed atm)
    • Crusader
    • Redeemer
    • Hyperios
    • Ares
    • Prometheus
    • Ultima
    • Etc.
  • Las Predator
  • Assault Cannon Baal Pred.
  • Hunter
  • Stalker
  • Dark Talon / Nephilim
  • Stormwolf/Fang
  • Darkshroud / vengeance

Might be a few others I'm forgetting but that should be it

While the predator annihilator did not exist prior to M36 or so, the HH predators could take lascannon sponsons. The predator cannon had twice as many shots as the regular (40K) autocannon. On top of that you could exchange the cannon for interesting stuff like the plasma destroyer or the magna melta. So who needs a predator annihilator?

What's the current fluff for the discovery of the vehicles specific to DA, BA and SW (currently available only in their 40k codices)? I.e. Is it likely that Baal Predators, Storm Fangs etc will become available in 30k?

Stormfangs, unlikely.

Baal Predators were discovered during the Great Crusade. Will likely have Twin-linked Iliastus Assault Cannons  (assault cannon, roll 3 nr 1's, weapon is destroyed), rather than the improved assault cannon of later millenia - meaning that (in the unlikely event of rolling triple 1's after twinlink) it can jam. Then again, with the Predator Cannon being assault 4, they may well be a Kheres.
