Mogsam Posted December 30, 2015 Share Posted December 30, 2015 After five or six years of pure fantasy armies I have recently taken the plunge into Heresy. Gathering seven friends together we all agreed to start various legions and produce armies. This will be a WIP section for a selection of the Night Lords I have produced, but not quite finished yet! I have many, many undercoated but few completely finished. I am really having some issues with the lightning bolts on their armour more than anything else and indeed am considering running the night raptors heads more often as I find them by far the most interesting. I've been drawn to the Night Lords because of their pretty interesting background, I've always been intrigued by the idea of a loyalist Night Lords force - they couldn't all be murderous psychopaths! The idea that some of his generals actually believed in bringing 'justice' to the Imperium and enforcing their primarches teachings, but not excessively. That is probably where I will go with a background. I've also sculpted hair onto a number of marines. Mogsam Posted January 3, 2016 Author Share Posted January 3, 2016 I wasn't happy with the generic mark 3 heads so I've pulled a squads helmets off and started to replace them with raptor heads. I've also changed the colour of the bone parts from a grey base - white base - sepia wash - white layer to a more bone focus. Does it look better? Though if he's Sean Bean's dad then his time is fairly limited.. Thanks for the positive comments! The terminators little bits of crotch and arm cloth are supposed to be skin, so when I go for the lightning I'll try to improve that as well. Mogsam Posted January 4, 2016 Author Share Posted January 4, 2016 The dull blue light flickered yet again in the spartan room he had been assigned, the beautifully crafted images of the yellow clad astartes fading for a moment until he thumped the projector and slumped against his chair resigned to boredom. For months he had been living in near darkness and he had not truly adapted, he was constantly having mishaps whilst the busy crew moved effortlessly around in the perpetual twilight. Eventually he gave up and had taken to sitting alone in his room, sequestored by his own choice. Not for the first time he cursed under his breath at his poor luck. He had been selected from the endless masses of the Imperium, hand picked to record the greatest adventure mankind had undertaken! To preserve it for the future, he had never been so proud... Yet of all the fleets he could be assigned too, of all the Emperors glorious legions he could be covering, he had been given over to butchers, psychopaths and murderers. Turning off the baleful light he shrugged himself under the covers into his crib, apathetically not bothering to remove his clothes and began to doze. He was awoken with three thumps loud enough to cause the entire room to shake. Panicking he jumped up, fumbling his way to the lights and blinking as even weak they still blinded him momentarily. Groggily he went to the door and grabbed the handle before wrenching it open with some effort. What he saw caused him to supress a gasp. A giant, seven foot tall and pure muscle stood looking at him through neatly tied hair and a combed long beard. Seconds dragged as the man stared at him. "I hear your the remembrancer." the giant spoke eventually to be answered with a scared nod. A shallow grin appeared showing perfect white teeth and a thick hand lowered onto his chest pushing him back into his room. "Then it is time for you to earn your keep." Should I add some static grass to the bases in the cracks here and there? Questionable violent justice but justice non the less! I made a doctor this evening. Mogsam Posted January 29, 2016 Author Share Posted January 29, 2016 It is quite a bit lighter in true lighting so that isn't really a problem, plus I think a tan would be pretty easy for them to get after so long on a world with no light! Got a lot of experience with facial hair from doing Imperial Ogres before starting 30/40k! Puffed up trousers and moustaches, mandatory for maximum violence potential. Anyway, back on topic! Being relatively new to the whole tanks/dreads/technology painting I'm still not massively confident doing weathering, however here is my dread post simple weather. I think I'll do some damage to his symbol an the flesh blanket on his arm is a definite point to be altered.
