Pherex_
Hi all Thanks for the compliments. I appreciate it. Here's a small update. Unfortunately my holidays are over and I'm back at work so I'm not getting as much brush time as I'd like . I've finished my centurion/chaplain and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t294/Pherex3710/30K%20Ultramarines%20painting%20log/20160119_154107_zpsrne6pdky.jpg The next model on my painting station is the SIcaran. It was a fun tank to build and I'm looking forward to painting it. I've also magnetized the sponsons for ease transportation and for weapon destroyed results. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t294/Pherex3710/30K%20Ultramarines%20painting%20log/20160119_155549_zpsjcbmsvdy.jpg http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t294/Pherex3710/30K%20Ultramarines%20painting%20log/20160119_155630_zpswjh1iwe3.jpg That's all for now. Thanks for reading. Pherex_
Hey all, Small update. Here's my Sicaran "Konor's Thunder" wip. It's been slow but I guess progress is progress. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t294/Pherex3710/30K%20Ultramarines%20painting%20log/20160126_021505_zpst8zdagke.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317866-legio-xiii-ultramarines-sicaran-complete-primarch-wip/page/2/#findComment-4284202 Share on other sites
Pherex_
Hey all It's been a while since I've posted anything. I've been quite busy lately and haven't had much time with the brush. I've finished the Sicaran and started slowly chipping away at the next tactical squad. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t294/Pherex3710/30K%20Ultramarines%20painting%20log/20160210_124647_zpsinmcphhh.jpg http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t294/Pherex3710/30K%20Ultramarines%20painting%20log/20160210_125315_zpsz2prgily.jpg I got bored of painting regular marines so I cracked out Mr. Roboute Guilliman himself and started working on him. I was going to wait till later to paint him but I just couldn't help myself. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t294/Pherex3710/30K%20Ultramarines%20painting%20log/20160210_124811_zps2miix3bg.jpg I think I spent a little bit over an hour and half on that leg and there is still a bit of touching up to do with that leg before it's complete. It's such an amazingly detailed model and I really hope that my painting can do it justice. Pherex_
Thanks guys. Nice clean paint job mate! Can't wait to see Guilly finished! :D That could be a while. He's a "I'll work on him when I get bored painting other stuff" project. :D Hey man can I ask how you do your gold? I'm real interested in doing a similar army. I've actually got 2 methods for the gold. The first squad of marines and dreaddy were done with; 1. balthazar gold base 2. shining gold(old paint) layer 3. seraphim sepia wash 4. shining gold layer 5. liberator gold layer 6. runefang steel highlight. The second method I is the one I'm currently using on the new tac squad and Guilliman is a lot simpler. 1. Retributor gold base 2. Seraphim sepia wash 3. Liberator gold layer 4. Runefang steel highlight Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317866-legio-xiii-ultramarines-sicaran-complete-primarch-wip/page/2/#findComment-4302324 Share on other sites
Morngrym
The white stripes down the entire helmet (and face areas of the helmets) really look great. Your painting is super clean (I'm pretty sure these chaps have not seen battle yet!). I generally like more weathering and battle damage, but can certainly appreciate nice, clean painting like this as well. Good work! The 2 main reason I did my Ultras super clean is because my Tau army is heavily battle damaged and I need a change from using damage and weathering effects. Secondly I think having a clean paint job suits Ultras extremely well thematically. I also had a 1000 points game with them the other day. With the help of a few 40k Raven Guard proxy models, I scored a 7-1 victory over an Imperial Fists army. Great start if you asked me :D.
