With the massive success of our first Horus Heresy Apocalypse weekend in December, we decided to go for another in March, over the 5th and 6th. This time Dan (renlegunvrs on the boards) will be hosting near his place in Lacolle, Quebec - Just a stone throw from the American border with New York/Vermont. As a veteran, he has access to the Legion Hall for the entire weekend, which is supplied with a kitchen and access to a bar. We are looking to expand to 10-12 players this time, maybe up to 16 depending on the interest. If possible, we will also film the event. Either with a Go Pro camera or a standard camera - whatever we can find. However, do not expect the video to go up fast, as we will have to render and edit 20 hours of video!

What : Horus Heresy Apocalypse
Who : 10-12 players, cap at 16. We are 6 to begin with.
When : March 5th and 6th. Possible arrive for the 4th at night to start setting up.
Where : Lacolle, Quebec, Near the US Border of New York/Vermont
Why: Because in the grim darkness of the future, there is only resin and remortgaged houses!

If you are interested in joining the game, read on!

What you can expect from us:

- A laid back, friendly gaming experience, focused on having a good time and punching each other in the junk with our mighty resin soldiers. This means we are very casual and just love to field models because they are fluffy and awesome looking. What's the point of killing traitors if you don't look fabulous while doing it? Be prepared to have discussions that run off fluff for days and lots of "That's what she said" jokes. We went from PG 13 to rated R in 30 minutes last time, but it's all in good nature.

- Beverages for the beverage God and food for the food throne! We will handle all the food logistics in near Ultramarine efficiency. Burgers, hot dogs and pizza are staple gamer food choices. I had leftovers for days after last time. Cost will be split in between all of us naturally, which amounted to 40-50$ Canadian per head last time (chump change for Yanks because of the exchange rate) . If you need vegan options, we will supply glasses of water in ample quantity msn-wink.gif

- For sleeping accommodations, some of us will sleep at the Legion or at Dan's over sized colonial house, but you can always book in nearby motels if you like. Dan will offer shower time at his house as well.

- Car pooling might be available from Ottawa and Montreal to begin with, plus addon players coming down might be able to offer a ride from the states.

What we expect from you:

- This is the most non-competitive event on the planet. "Plans" do not survive first contact with the enemy and we want to keep it that way. With this in mind, if you are looking to min/max and bend the rules at all cost to score a win, this is not the event for you. We collectively have amended some rules to keep the game interesting for everyone, which will be posted bellow. That being said, you are not forced to bring the worst models in the army book to play!

- This is a 2 day game, almost 20 hours of gaming. With the amount of miniatures on the table, we will be playing about 3 turns a day. This can be very grueling at times, as we will be playing all day with hour - hour and a half breaks for lunch. If you do not have the fortitude to be in for the long haul, this event is not for you. This doesn't mean that if you are rusty with the rules you cannot play, as we understand that some players do not play often - most of us don't. You just need to pair up with someone who does and go with the flow msn-wink.gif

- A sense of humour, some deodorant and being open minded goes without saying.

- Optional : If you can bring terrain, let me know. We ha barely enough for the table last time, and we will play on a larger one to allow for silly things like "maneuvers".

The Game

Factions will be divided as much as possible Loyalists VS Traitor. In case of unbalance, neutral factions (Mechanicum, Auxila, Militia) will be used to balance sides first.

Each player will play with a single 2,500 or 5,000 points of Age of Darkness Standard Force Organization, players with 5,000 point lists can add a secondary detachment consisting of 1 hq with 2 troops compulsory, with 1 fast attack, 1 elite and 1 heavy support as optional - these slots are added to the main, so same RoW, no second warlord. excluding non-Primarch Lords of War. Primarchs will be included in the 5,000 points AoD chart, and do not count towards any restrictions. Only one of each Primarch will naturally be allowed per side. The only exception is no Knight Households as Standard AoD Force Organization, knights must be taken with the points towards LoWs, as described further bellow. They can use Knight Household rules while used as LoWs. If you are a little short on points we can accommodate you, as several of us have plenty to spare.

For non-Primarch LoWs, each faction will have a shared pool of 1,000 points per player. These will be spent by each faction's team captain as a group discussion of who would like to bring what. Fear not! If you do not own a LoW, we can lend some out. This is to limit the amount of superheavies on the table top and maximize the legion warfare feel of the heresy, and not just big stompy robots.

Each faction will need a player to build a Zone Mortalis detachment to play part in a special scenario.

Each team captain will be given secret objectives to attribute to his lieutenants, unknown to the enemy. They are revealed at the beginning of turn 5 on a roll of 5 or 6. On Turn 6,on a roll of 4, 5 or 6. Roll for each objective. Who goes first will be determined by blind time bids. The team who bids the lowest wins and must deploy within the time frame given. Anything not put down will automatically be left in reserves.

Rule Amendments

These are to make certain units playable and to also thematically make sense with in-game mechanics and address game design flaws.

1. Models with the Jump Infantry special rule may declare a charge on the turn they arrive via Deep Strike, provided they do not run or shoot during the shooting phase. This charge is considered a Disorganized Charge.

2. Legion Command Squads and Solar Auxilia Command Squads count as scoring for objective capture and denial.

3. Primarchs and Vehicles are not removed from play on stomp results of 6. Instead, they suffer a S10 hit AP 1.

4. Challenges last the entire round, regardless of the initiative step on which the loser is slain. Excess wounds do not spill over to other models, but count as double for combat resolution.

5. Units arriving from reserves aboard an assault vehicle transport may disembark and declare a charge provided it did not move more than 6 inches that turn. This charge is considered a Disorganized Charge.

If you have any questions, feel free to fire away. I am sure I forgot a million and one details, so post in this thread or send me a PM if you are a lurker type msn-wink.gif

shouldn`t number 3 should be results from knight titans ,   with vehicles destroyed by warhound and reavers . and everyone destroyed by warlords? or did i miss the mark?

also shouldnt militia command squads count as capture units too?  for all those lovely cultist types?

Game experience is a non-issue. Make sure you got models enough to get close to the mark ;)

Of course. I know your right, but... In my mind I'm like it's only Canada..... (No offense meant, it's not like you're Mexico)

They're afraid you'll steal their mooses and maple syrup.

But seriously you need one if you want to get back into the US.

Lol totally forgot that.... Whoops.

So how do you gents/gals throw down for Zone Mortalis?

Cant get into much detail since I dont have them but the main Idea with the ZM Game and working it into the overall 5k Per-Player Apocalypse game is to have the ZM Game be inside an Installation of some form with the objectives being weapons of some kind that can possibly affect the overall battlefield.

So It'd be played concurrently with the Apocalypse game.

But thats as much that I know so I'd ask Wolf_Pack.

Its fine hahaha just be forewarned that our Border Dudes are actually meaner than yours in some cases tongue.png

I'm mostly hoping that the Mastodon/Stormbird is out by then and that I'd have Bought/Painted one up for use.

A mastadon would make a nice kickball for my Warlord...

Ohh god damn it stop it with the events I can't get to

I hear airplane tickets that time of year would only set you back 1,600$

When you think of it, it's less than a GW paintset ;)

The ZM game is run parallel to the game and affects the actual board. Like last time, it will be up to the players to decide how much of their 5,000 points they want to start on the ZM board, high risk, high reward ;)
