"Ghal mahara vok."

"Blessed are those to stand beyond the sight of Gods or Daemons."

~Vocatii Honourem, 47th Company, XVII Legion

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/923/2142RQ.jpg

“It is the mark of Greatness to deal with one’s mistakes.”

"So spoke the Dark Cardinal upon the nature of martial sin. But what of our sin? When we bent knee before Gulliman and his arrogant get, we made the gravest mistake since the inception of our legion. But never again will we bow to another. Never again shall we be forced to kneel before a warlord who is not the Blessed.

The most grievous fault of the Seventeenth was that of our pathetic capitulation at Monarchia. We begged forgiveness by our inaction. We screamed simpering contrition in our silence. By our meek acceptance we implored the XIIIth to murder our grandest achievement.

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/924/FRaPJR.jpg

Never again, my brothers. We stand strong. Our legion surpasses any that stand before it. Our true grand-sire saw the seeds of greatness within the breast of every Astartes of the Seventeenth. We shall correct the mistake of Monarchia and reap such terrible recompense from the Ultramarines, it will tear the bounds of reality asunder.

We are the Crusaders of the Rending Void, the Blessed Aurelian’s most holy warrior-kings. We are his conquerors, his champions of the Never-ending War, scions of the Primordial Annihilator.

By blade and bolt, by righteous might and zealous vindication… by our bare, bleeding hands… we shall tear the heart from Gulliman's greatest dream and cast it from the heavens.”

Jimbo - HAH! You should see my super heavy woot.gif

KotR - K-h-a-r-a-h-e-m smile.png

Indeed I am. I have 50 of the little guys, so I'm intimately (sick of) knowledgeable about them biggrin.png

Psycho - Ah, you should check out Audemus' Storm Hammer. It's pretty baller.

I actually settled the matter in the way I typically do when I'm being indecisive and bought all of them instead.

I'll probably never actually get all three built, but the thought is there.

my only regret is that i cant hit the like button more than once

This may be stupid sounding, but is there a way you can have High Chaplain Kul holding the shield to protect more of his front torso?

It looks like more of it protects his back than his front, unless you intended for the menacing look of advancement

I like the little speech. Definitely gets you into the theme. The only thing I like more is when you cross out "47th Company". :P

I assume that from the position of his head and the facing of his legs versus his chest, he is definitely advancing forward while getting ready to swing. The problem is that his feet are kind of awkward. His left foot looks like he's walking forward right, but then his right foot looks like somebody broke it and now he's limping with it. Which could be fitting lol, I just don't think too many people would appreciate that.

Of course, it could just be the angle of the photo.

Morning guys! Thanks for all the lovely replies.

@ Bladewolf - Thanks! I've encountered that problem quite often myself.

@ Brother Pheidias - Thanks! I feel like I'm getting better at that kind of thing :D

@ Captain Blow - Excellent! That was my intention.

@ Psycho - I couldn't tell you. I just played around with a few of the very sparse words we do actually know in Chochisian to get their company motto. I'll totally get on those Stormtanks.

@ Dantay - Thanks! In the same way Lorgar mimicked the Great Crusade with the Shadow Compliance, I wanted to have the Chapter of the Rending Void be the Dark Templar of his war.

@ DimDim - Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of Erebus myself. I wanted a Chaplain that actually gets off his armored ass and gets stuff done :D

@ WLK - Possiblish, but I wanted him to look like he was dropping his shield to step up and turn into a massive full body swing of his maul.

@ Kol - Yay! I poked and fiddled with exact words for awhile. Glad to hear it turned out ok.

Close, I wanted him to look like he had the left foot planted and was rotating into a massive overhead swing.

@ Psycho - Huh, I haven't checked out a lot of the Age of Sigmar stuff. At first, I was kinda excited about some of the Khornate stuff, but unfortunately the scale is way huge  for most everything.

@ Kizzdougs - Thanks man!

This High Chaplain is totes amaze.

TOTES. AMAZE.

KotR - K-h-a-r-a-h-e-m smile.png

Oh no, I didn't mean the name you gave the dreadnought but the name for its type; I was too lazy to check Forge World for the proper name of the corrupt contemptor.

I like the little speech. Definitely gets you into the theme. The only thing I like more is when you cross out "47th Company". :P

How so? All the cool kids hail rom 47th companies. ;) :p

Haven't been here for a while an look what I missed! Awesome eddies! One of them could still use some wash around the cockpit perhaps, an maybe some more runes? But they look sweet! Your metallic red look very cool. What's the recipe again? Second, gritty snow tanks! With tongue in cheeck cool names like Black Mariah from 'Bathory'... I see what you did there! Great fluff as always, Flint. It gives your work an evocative context, which makes it all the more appealing to take in. Omnomnom. ;) and last but not least the chaplain. That dude has it all. Niiiice. I couldn't help but thick he's a nod to my humble self, having left behind his 47th company heritage to focus on zealous matters?

Edit: spelling. Damn iPad touchpad.

Kalder’s axe crunched into the leg gimbal of the Castellati automata. It spit a pained blurt of binaric at her as it swung a ponderous fist. She ducked and hacked into it again, bisecting the coolant lines running up the back of its waist. Around her, three of her Velatarii squads were burning through dozens of volkite power packs, in an attempt to push the heavy automata back out of the ruins. The last three of them weren’t dying easily, their inbuilt flamers and heavy cannons raking the hastily erected barricade. At range, they were absolutely lethal, but up close they were clumsy. They could still crush an armored human like a ration tin, but as long as she stayed ahead of their awkward swings…

Plasma fire began arcing into the automata from a flank. Their armor melted and ran in thick rivulets as they attempted to readjust to the new threat. Kalder lunged at the distracted machine before her, burying the saw-toothed blade of her axe into the cybernetica cortex in the machine’s chest. The Castellax spasmed as it died, sagging into the dirt. The other two machines had crumpled, melted to smoking slag that quickly cooled in the frigid air.

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/921/Zd69DJ.jpg

The Legatina wrenched her axe free, turning as the Word Bearer’s kill team emerged from the ruins. The veteran squad repositioned facing outwards in a semi-circle, the mag-coils of their plasma drivers humming as they hunted for new targets in the ruins. Their sergeant looked down in surprise as Kalder’s helm bounced off the front of his plastron.

“You bastards are beyond late,” she snarled, “the worthless militia disintegrated as soon as the Cogs started into them.”
The entire squad of Word Bearers watched her address their sergeant. She didn’t bother to acknowledge any of them as she stalked to their commanding officer.
Sotha Kol removed his crested helm as the Legatina approached, a broad smile splitting his youthful face, “You killed one of the Castellati by yourself. That is impressive for a human.”

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/922/eY3xfK.jpg

His second in command snorted.

“Gal voruk essa koh,” Kor Vatha’s mountain Cholchisian was cut an even harder edge by his helm’s vox unit.

Kalder’s gaze didn’t waver from the hazel brown eyes of Sotha Kol, “My Velatarii had already spiked its reactor feed, I just finished it.” She glanced sideways at Kor Vatha, “and I am no blessed daughter.”

The veteran’s eyebrows rose slightly, “You speak the tongue of the cradle world?”

The Legatina nodded once, “Enough to understand when I’m being taken lightly, vorul esch’me hak.”

A smattering of vox-distorted chuckles passed among the Word Bearers at the crudity of the insult. It didn’t last, as low strength las fire began cutting its way down the ruined street. The Word Bearers had already begun to return fire, sending plasma bolts downrange into the mass of the advancing tech thralls. The cyborg soldiers were falling easily, but Kalder could see the hulking shapes of larger machines looming out of the dusk.

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/924/mwNFq2.jpg

“Brothers, tear them from this world. At the center of this unfeeling machine army, there is always a heart and a mind that can fear. We will find that consciousness and make it suffer,” Sotha Kol’s voice echoed across the Astartes vox-network. His own plasma driver kicked in his gauntlets as he sent a spear of blue-white energy into an advancing Thallaxi.

“Rut that,” Kalder spat from her kneeling positing to Kol’s right, plasma pistol clenched in a two handed firing grip, “Fang Thief, Spine Taker, ash ‘em.”

“Yes. Yes I like that,” the Astartes Sergeant growled as he advanced down the narrow avenue, plasma driver pulled tight to his shoulder. “My brothers. My venomous star eaters… ash them all.”

@ Kol - Thanks! ... like, more front than his first pic? He's a little awkward to take decent pics of I'm afraid. That about the best I could do.

@ Atia - Thanks! For the Word! And that Word is PLASMA KILLTEAM! (two words, but still)

@ Angrypantz - Thanks man, always glad to hear it.

@ KotR - Oh, I figured as much. Just giving you a hard time happy.png

@ Fire Golem - Thanks! The standard dread was the last thing I did with the traditional Tamiya clear before making the switch to ghost inks.

@ Augustus - Black Mariah is a bit of a hold over from my MCR days. I'm still a little emo some days sweat.gif

Glad to hear you like him. He didn't so much leave the 47th company of the XVIIth, as bring a chunk of it with him on Shadow Crusade. I wanted an evil Templar analog. The WORD is his ZEAL biggrin.png

Those are some beautiful marines Flint. The variety of heads really makes each of them a character, not just a plasma mook.

I enjoy reading your fluff. Will we be seeing more of your SA stuff in the near future? I recently got a few squads of veletaris, and have a lord marshal conversion planned. More SA inspiration would be nice.

Keep up the good work.

Dallo

Well, that's real pretty, ain't it? :D

Great looking Marines, Flint! I really like the guy in the back middle for some reason. That last line of your fluff, tho. Awesome. Someone totally needs to form a band called the Venomous Star Eaters now. :P

'watched' should be 'watching' in 'The entire squad of Word Bearers were watched her address their sergeant.'

Well painted marines, even if I really don't care for black-armored Word Bearers. tongue.png They just don't look like themselves in black and silver to me.

As for the star eaters, I always thought the World Eaters' legion badge could easily be repainted as a devoured star instead of a planet. laugh.png
