God no I hate the Word Bearers more than any other Legion, granted that's purely down to Kor Phaeron and Erebus but that's besides the point

I really like your short story bits which says a lot of the quality. As a matter of fact I don't like female heroes usually but this one seems tough and likeable. Great work. Keep going brother. Oh, besides.... Nice paint jobs too. ;)

@ Dallo - Glad to hear it. That's exactly what I was going for. It consistently amazes me how much variety there is just in the B@C box, but since I've made collecting different marine helms a bit of a hobby in and of itself, that's something I always pay a little extra attention to. I always like seeing what a certain legion's 'trademark' helm looks like in different colors. Like the Iron Warrior MK2 on the left there.

 

Yep! More SA stuff shortly. I'm currently working on my first squadron of Medusas. 

 

@ Psycho - Thanks! That would be a pretty awesome band name wouldn't it? 

 

@ Atia - So far they've been pretty useful. They offed a Wraithknight and a D-cannon artillery battery a couple weekends ago, so I thought I owed it to them to paint them up.

 

@ KotR - I can dig it, I was just so sick of painting metallic red by this point :D

 

That's actually a really cool idea. Something like the Thousand Son's sun clenched in World Eater jaws would be gnarly.

@ Augustus - I feel like my 7th legion Templar gave me some decent practice at bluey-black. These guys aren't painted to the same exacting standard, but glad to hear they come out alright.

@ Gorgoff - Thanks a lot man. I'll admit, some days I really struggle with a few of the fluff bits, but very glad to hear they come out enjoyable. I wanted to make the story of the Ash Vipers and their allied Word Bearers just as much a part of this plog as the models themselves. 

 

@ Jimbo - Thanks! Well, if you check out the FW Word Bearers, they also have silver helms, but with the metallic red armor and black shoulder pads. 

 

I think the "official" deal is that WB Veterans have black helms and specialists have silver helms, so smooshing those two together, I got the color palette for my veteran support specialists ^_^

I really like the look. I think I'm going to have to lift the idea ( whenever I get around to painting my HH marines. It's too bad I can't think of a loyalist legion that would have so much mysticism rife in its ranks as to have different heraldry for esoteric reasons. Thousand Sons before the Wolves leapt from the heavens, maybe.

 

Nice idea with having the legionaries have a (joking, for now) belief about the Legatina too - does a nice job of invoking Argel Tal's protectiveness of that woman from Monarchia, and we saw how unpleasant he got because of it.

Hey, Flint, I was giving some thought to the "star eater" logo you and KotR were talking about earlier in the thread.

 

Perhaps do the actual WE logo, but then give the orb "rays" instead of making it look like a planet?
