Hello everyone! This is going to be my project log for my 30k/ 40k Word Bearers army. Currently it is in conjunction with my loyalaty and treachery vow and I finally have enough made to start a log. Enjoy :)

"Does our father know?"

Erebus turned at the sound of the voice and regarded the legionary approaching him. In black armor that mimicked his own, Kol Garoh struck an imposing yet almost mystical figure. A tan hood hung low over his iconic skull helmet and almost made him look as if he was one of Johnson's lot.

"Ah if it isn't my old apprentice, it's been too long. Where is your acolyte, he is usually somewhere in your shadow?" Erebus responded cheerfully.

"He is away conducting business, and don't dodge my question. Does our father know?" Garoh was now pointing the heavy mace at Erebus.

"Know what?"

"It won't work, this rebellion. It'll fizzle out and die on Tera. It was never going to succeed or the gods would die."

"Ah that" Erebus considered his words before answering. "I'm honestly not sure if he knows... The pantheon has certainly shown him many futures, and he is intelligent enough to figure it out. Unfortunately our father is a bit of the zealous type, and I think he truly believes he can bring all of humanity on its knees, so to answer 'yes' he does know. I just don't think he believes it."

Garoh lowered the mace. "How can you let him do this?"

Erebus smirked. "Leading Lorgar down the right path has ceased to be my priority. It ceased when he led the legion to bend it's knee in reverence to his father. It ceased when the XIII insulted our very soul. It ceased when it became abundantly clear that Lorgar cannot lead this legion to the truth, only chaos can. That is why I have taken it to myself to set the board. This universe cannot survive without chaos, so we must ensure its continued survival."

Garoh sighed. "Then this is really what we must do teacher?"

"Yes, now is there anything else?"

"Does the Warmaster know?"

Erebus laughed, "does it matter?"

I chose to do the graven star chapter of word bearers.

I still have a bit of work to go before painting like drilling bolters, or sculpting the knee joint on the dreadnought. But that's it for now. C&C appreciated.

Damn, I love that fluff blurb, you've even managed to have me like your rendition of Erebus!

Now for the first time I wish I still held that old, ooooold username I had way back when I first joined BnC and was known as 'Chaplain Erebus' before Sabertooth and BL first used the name themselves...

+ Edit :

Looking back on this, where'd you get that etched brass!? Did you actually have it custom-made, or did you manage to somehow add the face to FW's chaos renegades etch?

Thank you all! I appreciate all the encouragement.

Ha! It be great if "chaplain Erebus' had liked that post :P though to answer you question; that particular detail was a pain in the @** that I am never going to try to attempt again... I cut in half one of the regular word bearers brass etched symbols, trimmed the horn and forehead, then stretched the mouth to be screaming. The etched brass places tend to wash out a bit in pictures so you can't teally see the nose that gives it away.

Edit: also Erebus will be returning frequently as I tell the story of Garoh's cult with a different take on him than what black library shows, if that's any incentive to stay tuned... ;)

Update: work hit me like a sack of bricks this week... But when I got a package I wasn't expecting, I just couldn't help but spend some time to make two more of the characters in this story. One isn't done yet and I really don't want to show him off unfinished. This one however was surprisingly a lot easier than I thought he would be.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Your skills are improving brother" Garoh stated encouragingly despite feeling that the Summoner needed no encouragement. His brothers skills had far surpassed his own.

"It is nothing Shepard. I simply learn from my brothers around me. The chaos that they naturally exhibit teaches much." That was a lie. Garoh knew that the Summoner was hiding something. He was always hiding something.

"Very well. Show me something new then" stated Garoh flatly.

Under his hood the Summoner smirked knowing full well the reaction he was going to create. It would be a good amount of chaos. He drew his anatheme and traced a wide circle in the air pausing briefly at eight deliberate points while Garoh watched in amusement. This was mostly for show as most magic is. Suddenly at the last point of the star, he brought the blade sharply up and then ripped it down while whispering a baleful speech. The whole room went black except for the fresh wound in reality which was leaking impossibly sentient colors. Blues that wanted to eat you, yellows that would seduce you, reds that could drive you mad, (or sane depending on your perspective) and everything between.

"Where do you wish to lead me Shepard?" The summoner's sarcasm could have been as alive as what was pouring out of the warp rift. Garoh was completely taken aback. He stared in stunned silence as the gravity of what he just witnessed sank in. Suddenly he rounded on the summoner knowing full well that he only knew one person that could perform that.

"Where did you learn that?" He questioned angrily.

"The high Shepard... Though not by his teachings. He would never teach that."

"Then how!? Erebus isn't weak enough for you to just pick it out of his head." Garoh shot back.

"Don't be so sure. Breaking into a mind is like breaking into a cogitator network. You just have to know what your looking for." Explained the Summoner coolly.

"Someday you will show me that." Stated Garoh and turned to leave.

"If you could understand" whispered the summoner to Garoh's back, then turned his attention back to the rift.

+three Taran months earlier+

"Pull the blade, whisper the words..."

Erebus stopped suddenly. He had done this before. Specifically nine times in the last... Wait... How long has it been? Something was wrong. He had just been practicing spells and incantations for what seemed like days now. Over and over again until he had them down perfectly... Except he already had them down perfectly before. This wasn't right at all. He calmed his breathing and focused his m... i... n... d...

The high chaplain woke from the trance with a start. His chambers icy cold, a cloud with each breath. Psyker...

The link now broken Erebus floated his own thought and quickly pinpointed the rogue aura. He swooped in fast but the aura vanished without a trace. In its place was a fresh warp rift. The very spell he was going over in the trance.

"Well that was a clever trick. I'll remember that aura, maybe I can learn something yet" the chaplain said to himself. He looked at the chronometer: it had only been 3 hours. "Impressive." Erebus grunted.

He relaxed back to his meditative position. Breathing in and out, slowly he eased back into his trance. Under his breath you could just faintly hear him say "pull the blade, whisper the words..."

@Arac: The Hydra has a good eye. All correct.

@the Hydra: I appreciate it man, I'm hoping to start laying down some paint on my off day tomorrow.

@Flint: Thank you, he will count as a librarian (because they are the only ones who can use Malific powers in Horus Heresy) with a cursed blade (think that's what its called (at work away from books)) No the Diabolist is the other conversion I'm still working on. I'm waiting on the head to finish him. He is way more bold of a conversion... think bold like the dreadnought but with much more expensive models being cut up tongue.png
