exsanguis
Hey again everyone, I was thinking of starting an Iron Hands force to be part of my Crusade Fleet along with some Mechanicum and eventually Solar Auxilia. I want to keep it fluffy but competitive, so I have stuck with a mixture of tanks and infantry, with plenty of experimental weaponry. This is what I have come up with so far: HQ Castrmen Orth - Rides in the Sicaran TROOPS Legion Tactical Squad x15 - Sgt with AA, Melta Bombs, Power Axe, Legion Vexilla Legion Tactical Squad x15 - Sgt with AA, Melta Bombs, Power Axe, Legion Vexilla Legion Tac Support Squad x10 - Sgt with AA and Bolter/Scanner, 9x Calivers ELITES Apothecarion Detachment x2 - AA, Scanners (one for each of the Tac Squads) Legion Rapier Battery x3 - Graviton Cannons HEAVY SUPPORT Deredeo - Aiolos, Autosimulacra Legion Predator Squadron x3 - 1x Heavy Conversion Beamber & Machine Spirit, 2x Autocannons, All with Lascannon Sponsons and Autosimulacra Sicaran Battle Tank - Ceramite, Autosimulacra, Lascannon Sponsons Essentially the plan would be for the Tac Squads to move up and grab objectives while the rest of the force sits back and blows stuff up. Simple and brutal, just how the IH would prefer I imagine. Changes I've considered: 1. Swap Deredeo for a Venator - I already have the Deredeo which helps, and it's great AA. 2. Drop a Rapier for something else - not sure what. I think with Grav Cannons it's go big or go home and grav fits the IH theme nicely. 3. Drop the 3rd Predator - go for 2 with HCB's (cos why not?!). 4. I would love to get a Contemptor in there. Either a Mortis with 2x Lascannons (maybe drop the Deredeo for it?) or a dual-fits with grav Dread to Hulk smash things. If going melee Contemptors I'd ideally want to have 2 (one for each Tac Squad). Thoughts? Caillum
I'd seriously consider squeezing in a Delgatus to give you the Head of the Gorgon RoW. Would be around 80 points, even with gear, and he can sit back in the Support Squad. You have 5 Vehicles, so you gain a lot out of it - free Blessed Autosimulacra would save you 50 points on its own! Plus those 3 squads will be Stubborn, and you can Outflank the Preds or Orth if you want to. :) Another idea is to keep the Support Sergeants Caliver and take a 3rd Apothecary for that squad... As for you considerations, all good options. Having dedicated anti-air helps, so I'd keep the Deredeo. 6 graviton Rapiers are the best way to stop a Spartan in its tracks, but it's a lot of points. Your Preds are loaded up with lots of stuff - maybe keep them cheap and cheerful? 2 melee Contemptors would be cool, but they may struggle to get into combat - I'd go chainfist & Kheres, but you'd need to rejig the list a lot. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318474-iron-hands-2k-no-row/#findComment-4283032 Share on other sites
Emperors Teeth
Yeah, remove the payments for the Autosimulacra and drop either: the Artificer Armour, or 2 Tactical Marines and you're really on to something there. I'd seriously consider downgrading the Conversion Beamer if you choose to go the Delegatus (highly recommended) direction - if you are Outflanking your Predators it won't be able to fire anyway. This will of course free up more points. May I recommend Dozer Blades on all vehicles. You'll probably be gluing them on anyway, so why not make use of them <-from the man who fails every Difficult Terrain Test.
