Hatred from Monarchia: A WB log (Warning, pic heavy)

I thought you had plans to run both Lorgar & Angron together at some point?

Me? LOL nah, WLK may one day run Angron. Actually, I hope he eventually does do world eaters. I would have to get rid of my 40k Wb force before I did that though. I only have space for so much, you know? Now Lorgar, zardu and erebus in the same list? Yes please.

Fingers crossed for Russ in September or October... Seeing that he is already partially done. The head in th pictures at the weekender was just a placeholder thankfully.

On-topic, I couldn't imagine WLK running a traitor army...

I reckon you should do Curze Rayx2. A break from all the red and a chance to repeat the duel on the sands of Istvaan5, where the NightHaunter saves Lorgars life.

Ah, going for concussive to knock your opponents down to Initiative 1 eh?

Sneaky. A good leveler for fighting Primarchs I guess.

I saw a batrep, where Matt from MWG used his Salamander firedrakes to Concuss Angron, so Vulkan could then curb-stomp him in relative safety.

Hmmm... Maybe WLK should run some Sallies. COuld be useful against bloodthirsters and the like msn-wink.gif

Now I almost went with the Salamanders while waiting for the Wolves, but another player in our local community plays them already.

Here is a pic of an old Apoc game with Vulkan in the background, moments after he ker-splatted Belakor in a single hit...became hammers with Instant Death love Daemons

Well, afterwards they tried 3 scenarios where it was Angron with Butchers vs Vulkan with Firedrakes and Angron won every time.

Doesnt Angron+friends kill everything? Like including Horus and his backup dancers?

I wont lie, a traitor army has tempted me a few times. I keep shying away from it, but both the NL and WE have strongly tempted me. The breaking factor was starting another army for a game Im barely playing and the color schemes. Despite being repeatedly assured how easy they can be made, my inner lazy man shuddered

Lol. I barely get my toes dipped into the heresy and you guys are planning out my next army. Let me get my reinforcement in first....Lotsa painting to cover, including stuff I already own but havent fully painted.

Well, I couldn't resist the urge to paint a small something something earlier while my munchkins attempt to move everything not attached to the floor, so I present Brother-Chaplain Solsius.

I cannot wait to see that cursed Mhara Gal with paint on it

Ā

Kinda fitting you usedĀ AurelianĀ in the pic

Thought you'd like that. I'm debating on going with flesh colored mutation or a more unnatural color, as I've seen good versions of both paint jobs.

What Red are you using? I like it!

I use Dragon red from army painter mixed with agrax earthshade from gw and put into my airbrush. I'm then going back over it with khador base red from privateer press. I generally do another wash after that red as well.

Without further adieu, I present the report for the "Mosh pit of the Ravenguard", as this ......hatefest will from now on be referred to. The initial pictures are our armies, of coarse, and both of us were extremely optimistic over how ridiculous this game would be. Little did I realize, that turn one seize the initiative along with a terrible deployment on my part, would seal my traitorous fate.

These top pics are shots of WLK's army. It was a fantastic mix of hard hitting in the form of the leviathans, sneaky in the form of mor dreythan and seekers i belive, and quick hitting units, in the form of two dark fury and drop pod units.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_9.jpeg

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_10.jpeg

My army consisted of a solid mix of mostly word bearers backed by some daemon love, mostly with the daemons being a tax to pay for what I perceived as a nasty bloodthirster and khorne daemon prince.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_11.jpeg

My initial setup consisted of castling up, with a small pocket in the rear corner of my deployment. I had initially seen the large amount of pods WLK was going to drop, and had a busted light bulb go offon how fantastic of an idea this deployment would be.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_12.jpeg

Another thing of note is my deployment of my demon prince and blood thirster. I didn't really try to hide them, and also didn't bother flying them, which may or may not have helped.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_13.jpeg

This photo would be of the amount of space we ignored. We knew this would be an ugly meat grinder, and the RG came pumped and prepared.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_14.jpeg

The dark furies were set behind an armored curtain of hatey hate hatemongery ready to send the WB's behinds back to our infernal gods.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_15.jpeg

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_16.jpeg

Sneaky sneaky..... lots of flamer love infiltrated to ensure any advance would not go untorched.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_17.jpeg

Same as above, but with a little less flame and a toolbox of special abilities.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_18.jpeg

And that oh so fateful roll to steal the initiative!

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_19.jpeg

Before unit Kolstenax has a chance to advance and lay down cover fire, drop pods land and brothers in black and white pile from their pods, choking the street in an attempt to stop the word bearers and claim one of six objective points.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_20.jpeg

Oh that space in the back corner. I cringed and hoped for the worse, but a target was rolled for WLK's contemptor to stay comfortable within his drop pod, and the WB's again had no chance to notice there would be a serious problem just at their back-side.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_21.jpeg

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_22.jpeg

We were measuring something, but I am sure it is fire from or at the mor dreythan, who comfortably sit and hold an objective.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_23.jpeg

WLK's anvillus drops, holding the enemy Varys and his command unit of terminaters. By now, I see the box around my army forming, and knots are in my stomach.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_24.jpeg

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_25.jpeg

Here we have the enemy advancing, with the jump veterans(I'm pretty sure) ready to mop the streets of incoming traitors.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_26.jpeg

And here we have the turn one casualties, with the not so blessed daemon prince biting the dust on his purch in the buiding, the contemptor eating it from the dreadnaught behind and I want to say the front as well, and the rhino which contained my precious choom boys (the worst deployment idea I have ever had), leaving them snap shooting in the following round.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_27.jpeg

The screamersadvance behind the plasma support and tactical unit, and the Ashen circle advance foreword.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_28.jpeg

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_29.jpeg

The bloodthirster and Mhara Gal advance foreword. At this point all I can think is to get the bloodthirster into combat, with the Mhara hugging cover(despite having a 5++) http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_30.jpeg

With the Volkite Cavalier unit only being able to snap fire,I decide to fire at the pod, and bring it crashing down with success. To keep him safe from the looming thirster, WLK has Varys and his standard bearer hug cover to ensure he won't strike last.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_31.jpeg

A shot from the Mhara's plasma cannon sends one unit of the dark furies running in fear of their emperor loving souls, and at this point things may just be looking up for some type of break out for the Bearers of the Word.

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_32.jpeg

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg512/sepherum/Mobile%20Uploads/image_33.jpeg

Needless to say, the bloodthirster assaults Varys, and has his headed cleanly cleaved from his shoulders, my dead pile grows immensely on WLK's turn (probably around 1500 dead) and I decide to call it, saying something to the effect of my praetor and Zardu Layak bail in their storm eagle, and if this is how loyalists always fought, there would have been the Massacre of Horus instead of the Horus Heresy.
