Elzender
Hey there! Just a quick question: is it possible for a model equipped with a boarding shield to not use it in a combat round in order to gain another attack for 2 weapons, in exchange for losing the inv save? I'm mainly thinking about breacher sergeants, phalanx warders and characters eqquiped with them, as they can be potentially equipped with a melee weapon and a pistol in addition to the shield. I know it is not a weapon, but for example if a model has two weapons with a different profile, you get to choose which one you use in every round, and I was wondering if it could be applicable to shields ('though I guess RAW it is not allowed). Slips
Nope. Its a piece of Equipment that states they do not get +1A for having 2 Weapons due to having it. Its not an On/Off piece of gear. Terminus
Sadly, the rules of the shields prohibit you from ever gaining an extra attack from an additional weapon. You could have a pistol for shooting and a knife for stabbing, but the shield always takes up the other arm. This is even for guys like Invictarii, who have the pistols built into the shields (although their weapons count as specialist so it wouldn't matter anyway)! Interestingly enough, you can still wield a two-handed weapon like a lance or glaive and still have a shield. Spartans, hurrah!
