B
rothers and sisters, I am making an announcement here that we will finally be winding down the Liber Astartes Campaign. My initial thoughts on a hard deadline would be the beginning of this years ETL, although I have been advised to make a reasonable request for those still interested.

It has been nearly five years since the start of the Liber Astartes Campaign and progress has slowed to the point where, even with the valiant efforts of LySiMachus and Octavulg, the project is unlikely to ever be complete. In fact, the current goal of finishing the first Act seems almost out of reach.

This endeavour has been around longer than I have been a Mod of the Liber, and so it is not unfair to consider it a legacy of the previous Mods and 'generation' of Liberites. Some members we have not seen for years, others have simply moved on to other projects and parts of B&C. A select few, Ace Debonair and Arkangilos primarily come mind (plus other, less frequent brethren), have remained and continue to walk these hallowed halls dispensing valued advice and contributions. And, you know, Aquilanus is one of the Mods now (one of us one of us).

Consider this a last call for those of you involved in it:

Ace Debonair (Infinity Knights chapter)

Aquilanus (Bahltimyr Reavers warband)

Arkangilos - fka Telanicus - (Sanguinary Crusaders chapter)

Banelord (Dire Wolves chapter)

Brother-Captain Alecto (Legio Solemnitas warband)

Brother-Sergeant Bohemond (Knights of Paladrea chapter)

Brother SP - fka Silver Phoenix  - (Sons of Yudea chapter)

Calgar101 (Scions of Vengeance chapter)

Captain Forcystus (Lions of Radiance chapter)

Chapter Master Ignis Domus (Iron Flames chapter)

Conn Eremon - fka Cormac Airt - (Emerald Tigers Chapter)

Cpt_Reaper - fka 11th Company Dark Master - (Angels of Shadow chapter)

Crusader of Dorn (Marines Invictus chapter)

Ecritter (Sons of Pyron chapter)

Elohimalpha (Lions of Dawn chapter)

exetus (Five Suns/Sanguinary Phalanx? chapter)

Felwether (Marines Immaculate warband)

Ferrata (=][= Presiding Liber Mod =][=)

Firenze (Knights Griffon chapter)

Gil Galad (Night Scorpions chapter)

Jehoel (Angels Unrelenting chapter)

Madwolf Shadowmane (Hounds of the Hunt chapter)

Master Exorcist (Dragon Claws chapter)

Nemesor (Knights Punitor chapter)

Octavulg (Steel Dogs chapter) (Stone Hearts chapter)

Omega Striker (Adamantium Dragons chapter)

PorridgeMeister (Knights Valiant chapter)

Predator Joe (Angels of Vengeance chapter)

Reyner (Ghost Dragons chapter)

Shinzaren (Sons of Lightning chapter)

Sigismund Himself (Gryphon Guard chapter)

SpecialIssueAmmo (Guardian Eagles chapter)

stilettoblade (Hellbenders)

strongbow (Knights of the Phoenix chapter)

The Normish (Doom Guard chapter)

Uprising (Carnivores chapter)

XKhalilX (Children of Eternity chapter)

The list is not exhaustive so consider any omissions or errors a product of my squishy, fallible brain. Corrections are welcomed.

Everyone on that list who can be PM'd will be, and shall be linked to this thread for further discussion. Prompt replies are expected.

If anyone from the original project is still interested, speak up in this thread. If no-one wishes to make an immediate commitment to finishing the first Act then the proposed deadline of this years ETL will go ahead and the project will be consigned to the depths. Further discussion in this thread is encouraged, however the deadline will not exceed beyond the end of the ETL. That is all.

Although I'm not part of this huge project, may I ask one question?

What exactly does ETL mean? Read it several times here but don't have any clue about it.

Furthermore it's kind of sad that it might end this year. I jumped several times in this project and was amazed by its size.

One door closes another opens. :)

@Olis - Lovely artwork!

First appropriate thing I could find.

I'm down to keep going.

That's one. I will presume that LySiMachus will be cool with being involved, so that's two, really. If more contributers speak up, then maybe the deadline will be pushed back to the end of the ETL

Thanks, Brother Tyler.

Man...don't know what to do.

Would love to help you with my Storm Riders. But I think that the project itself is soooo huge to get on it for now. :/

As I do participate in other projects here (BotL), I fear that it would be too much for my non existing leisure time.

If I can indeed help you nevertheless, just let me know, ok?

We will keep you in mind, brother. It's probably going to be mostly just writing up and summarising the relevant information so that Act One is presentable to the rest of the Liber. Octavulg and LySiMachus will have a more intimate knowledge of the project than myself.

To be honest, I'm not really sure where we are at with it anymore, though. The whole reason I kind of dropped off was that I went to basic training and so left it behind, and it had grown a huge amount without me while I was gone. It will take a little bit to get caught back up on.

I can think of at least one person missing on that list. ^_^

Conn Eremon - fka Cormac Airt - (Emerald Tigers Chapter)

Though I don't have much of a grasp on the overall campaign anymore, I believe that were down to the last Act, which was in need of two more submissions followed by a write up tying it all together into a single narrative. The two remaining were for myself and Aquilanus, a shared battle.

Speaking only for myself, a complete loss of inspiration led to a loss of interest, and I never really got it back. For which, I am sorry.

Wow, time slips through your hands so quickly, has it been 5 years already?  The nostalgia is coming back just thinking about this project, just my chapter of dinosaur theme carcharadon and I destroying everything in our path, making enemies, having my chapter master punch another chapter master in the face, those where the days.  It would be sad to see this die, but sadder to see it limp on never getting finish.  Let give this project a bolter shot through the skull, and try again with something a bit smaller, if we try again.

Blood follows Blood (Carnivore battle cry)

Edit: Let thank olis for PMing us.

Well I missed a deadline and my boys were squicked by Octy so there is honestly not much reason for me to get back involved.  That and I have long since given up on the Chapter.  I am/was attempting to work on a much smaller scale project with Ace, Dos, Cambrius and Lysimachus called the Lauss Rift but that seems to have suffered a similar fate.  My opinion would be put it down and then maybe look at something smaller scale. Perhaps a series of smaller campaigns.

Consider this a last call for those of you involved in it:

Ace Debonair (Red Lords chapter) (Rift Lords warband)

I think you meant:

Although they're missing from Lysimachus' thread too.sad.png

Nevertheless;

Give me a writing task, and it shall be done.

Funnily enough, the Liber Cluster may very well suffer a similar fate, too...

Don't even joke about that.

I would wear my fingers to the bone with ceaseless typing before I see the Liber Cluster fail and be forgotten (like my Infinity Knights cry.gif)

Just give me a list of what needs doing and I'll get started as soon as I can.

Ah, I apologise, brother. Clearly my use of the search function was not thorough enough in finding who was involved with what. I will change the OP.

In that case, consider the task of finishing off the EWC in the Liber Cluster a two-man job (unless more members step forwards). As per my latest post there, I will send out a PM to all the relevant Fraters tomorrow and knuckle down on getting the ECW done before the ETL. Divvying up what's left shouldn't be too hard.

Well we Liberites are known for our inability to complete projects.  Its the problem with more creative types; Grand ideas followed by not so grand ability to follow through.  Usually because the imagination has jumped to something else.  I myself am very guilty of this.  Thats why I suggested many smaller projects, like what I was trying to achieve with the Lauss Rift, but on a more clearly defined project and timeline.  Looking at that list a lot of the names have moved on too.  Liber has suffered a lot since it was moved to the bottom of the site. Heck even I don't visit as often as I used to.  Used to be one of the main areas I visited now I only go here once or twice a week on average.

With the never ending stream of painting challenges in the rest of the board along with general shifts in the rest of the board much of the interest that this place one generated as well has gone. Projects and challenges started to achieve some life back here have fallen quiet as, in all honestly, people are all challenged out and while the idea of developing ones own fluff for their chosen army is still strong the lure of the Heresy with its lack of DIY scope, at least as far as Chapters in concerned, has been another nail in Liber's coffin.

I notice the Fan Fiction forum has fallen equally quiet, after our move the basement.  The Liber Day challenges were a good idea, attempting to draw members from the rest of the site to Liber in an attempt to get some life and movement going, but once the initial surge of interest wore off things went all quiet again.

I also feel that the loss of the Librarium has killed much of the interest here.  It was always the goal of many of us here to have a "Librarium worthy" article and that was the core reason we kept plugging away at articles long after we would have otherwise given up due to the scathing criticism given by some of our more... tactless liberites.  The sense that, after all our work, our Chapter would be accepted into a form of semi-canon gave us something to work towards.  Without that we are writing for the sake of writing, and we all have no true reason to critique each others work or help push each other.  Although many of the more illustrious members stated that if Librarium publishing was the only reason you were writing an IA you were doing it for the wrong reasons they already had articles in the Librarium and so could rest on those laurels.  The average creative type longs for recognition of their achievements and actually achieving that publishing did exactly that.

... Sorry, got a bit long winded there.  I am just saddened at the loss of much of what made the Liber what it was and the growing loss of interest in these once busy hallowed halls.  I know the loss of Librarium isn't something that can be changed till the board software is changed as well and with the loss of Revered Brother Argos who knows when that will happen.  Anyway, I shall go back to lurking in the Deepest Darkest Depths, where I can go back to being the grumpy old man that I feel like these days...

EDIT: Perhaps as a ways to drive/renew the interest in Liber we petition Semper to have a Liber Faction back in the ETL, being drawn from whatever relevant Codex.  I miss the unity we had then.  Would need the mods on board and I am not sure Semp wants the extra work but it cant hurt to try.
