V Legion: White Scars by Hummous

Hi guys! I've just begun my journey into the Age of Darkness with my decision to commit to the V legion as my army!

At the recommendation of some very nice B&C members in another of my posts, I've decided to create what I'd consider a logbook of my goings on with this project. It'll probably be lots of painting updates, list ideas and other general ramblings to do with what I'm up to with the hobby!

I'm always open to, and appreciate, comments and criticism on anything I do so please feel free to let me know what you think!

On to the body of my first post!

Why the V Legion?

I chose this legion after reading the Horus Heresy books and short stories relating to them. Out of all the legions, they seem to just not give a damn about rigid allegiances and drama, and just want to do what they feel is right for them and their sense of what is right! I also love their characterization as this noble, elegant culture that outsiders see as savages.

In terms of the game, they're also very different to my 40k army (Mechanicus). I like the idea of having a force that constantly moves around on the table, and their RoW and Legiones special rules are perfect for this!

My Legion so far:

So, being impulsive, I decided that the first model I would build and paint would be one of my centerpieces!

Next Up!:

My next project for the scars will be finishing up the rest of my jetbikes! I put in my order to Forgeworld today so they should be here at some point soon! Can't wait to get my hands on those gorgeous models!

If you've read this far, thanks! I hope you've enjoyed my first foray into the general forums. Let me know if this is the sort of thing you'd like to keep reading! If not, what could I change to make my future posts better?

Thanks for the feedback! I can see what you mean; I definitely wanted to do something a little different from the super clean look scars often have (at least in my 40k experience). I hope once I have a few more models I can play with the balance of colours and bring the white out more across my army.

I really like it. It reminds me of the origional Blanch artwork of the Khârn. No white just gold armour. Looking forward to seeing this.

It's so funny you say that Ironwithout, because it was one of my sources of inspiration!

For anyone who's not seen it yet, here's a bit of blanchitsu:

I've edited my first post in the army list part of the forums to have the final version of my 2000 points at the top! I'm not sure if its ok to repost it here, since there's an entire sub-forum dedicated to army lists, so heres a link:

So, I'm super excited because my jetbikes will be delivered by the end of Monday at the latest according to forgeworld! I'm not sure how good that is for my dissertation, but i'll have to try and exert some form of self discipline!

What I've been up to:

Firstly, i've been shopping around for bits to make my command squad deathstar really unique looking! Here's what i've found:

So the ends of these spears are going to replace the blade's on some grey knights halberds to make my command squad's power glaives

All my unit have combat shields, so i wanted to get something quite special! I found these on chapterhouse, but i'll have to wait a while for them to get here from the US. On the other hand, they just attach on to the side of my warriors arms so i can even start painting the squad if they don't turn up soon

I'm going to be using a combination of these kits as well as a head from the chaos marauder horsemen to make my stormseer really stand out!

Looking forward to this. All looks really good. Just a heads up though if you ever plan to go to Warhammer World they only allow 100% GW models now. Its what put me off the chapter house shields. If thats not a problem great because they are bloody lovely

Hmm, are they that fussed about 1 bit on the model? In my local we usually are ok with like 90% GW as long as we don't run around advertising that they're third party bits. If push came to shove id just say i liked the look of them so i greenstuffed my own :P

Here's the banner for my jetbike command squad

The bit is from the fantasy sea cutter model (high elf flying boat thing). The writing is mongolian script i found on google (not that iknow what on earth it means tongue.png). Theres still some shading to do, but i want to see exactly how its going to sit on the model before i do it!

This next one is the arm for my librarian! I wanted to get an effect of him shooting some sort of psychic power, and i thought energy tendrils with some lightning would be the best way to do it biggrin.png
I made it using a paper clip, which i stripped of its plastic cover to make the central coil, then used the plastic for the other ones!

My 11 bikes arrived today biggrin.png dead excited to get them all built!

My times very limited over the next couple of days with my dissertation deadline coming up, but I've managed to do a little work on the stormseer today! My favourite part of the model is his little "white scar" biggrin.png what do you think?

also: there's tons of white on the bike don't worry!

Hey guys, i know its been a while but i got my dissertation finished and submitted this week! Still have more assessed work to get in but my last deadlines in 4 hours! Taking a quick break to show you all the meagre progress I've managed in my breaks here and there.

This is the command squad, still a bit of WiP, but im going do the last bit of weathering once the bikes are finished and theyre glued on!
