PeteySödes
Ok, I'm thinking this then. Something closer to the middle one, silhouette Magnus with the gleaming eye, Logan as a wolf axe in teeth in the foreground. Keeping in mind i want to keep the Norse Saga style of my contemptor. Im still going to try to make a axe in chest depiction but again i think it'll be too similar to the dread. That banner bearer is outstanding. Please close up! Hah he already got an upgrade last night! Still need to make the left handed axe but since its magged I'm basically good to go on him. Contemplating hanging some trophies from the top for some extra flow but we'll see what time looks like. I gotta get painting! NightHowler
I feel like a broken record every time I comment on your thread, because your stuff is always inspirational at a minimum and mind-blowing the rest of the time. I read your comment about how you do the fur pelts, and it sounds like you roll out individual tufts of fur from tiny blobs of green stuff and lay them on from the bottom up. Is that right? And if so, is that also how you do beards? Because your painting is stunning, but your green stuff skills are also something I aspire to. The nice thing is you don't need to be exact with it, its actually better not to be i think. For the hair its similar but more often than not rather than little oblong beads i make longer super thin "snakes", but i do approach it in the same manner. For beards a lot of times because its so fine i'll just lay a single strip down over the jaw and tease it into place. For Badstar you can see the beard, which is a single strip over the chin, then a strip on each sideburn area worked with a sculpting knife and an x-acto as well. His hair was just the tiny "plate" for texture over the top then a little ball for the bun and the trailing wisps are just really thin pieces. I just try to break everything down into component shapes first then play around until i like it. Just remember not to do too much at once, at least once every few days i stick a thumb into something i was happy because i got greedy.... ranulf the revenant
We once had a minister in Germany with the most bushy eye brows ever. I'll now have to imagine Theo Waigel swinging a Power axe, slaying foes for the Emperor. Quite bizarre. Hmmm... Maybe I'll name one of my characters Theoderic, why not Edited September 12, 2019 by ranulf the revenant PeteySödes 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/322036-the-storm-stalkers-wip-blog/page/26/#findComment-5386777 Share on other sites

PeteySödes
Almost have my first primaris unit done, how scandalous! Really though They were fun to paint though, and I like the infiltrators rules. I really liked making the helix adept jr priest, i had a good time sketching around the salves and bottles. He looked crazy Night Lordy in the beginning but i think it leveled out. Mostly just some pigments and snow to go but i'm sure I'll find some details I missed. PeteySödes
Do you have a stencil for the great company or is that all free hand? Made some DIY transfers a ways back but when those ran out i got some custom work done by Fallout hobbies. It's the same Wolf that stalks stars graphic I had printed but they have better material. The star is freehand though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/322036-the-storm-stalkers-wip-blog/page/26/#findComment-5390896 Share on other sites

Bryan Blaire
Lol how dare you! ;) What’s working for you? Mwahahahahaha *Mr. Burns finger-steeple* I think you have convinced me it is time to purchase a Deathsworn kit, and I'm liking all the Wolf accoutrement (although they've got a bit more wolf fur than I tend to like - I'm hoping to gather some bits/learn to sculpt for some pelts with a variety of textures to represent hunting some other critters). You also did a great job painting their markings and doing the right amount of battle damage. And the bases (need a how-to on those bases and colors) - they look almost spot on for what I was looking to do with my Wolves (for those not standing on the Sectors Mechanicus or Imperialis bases).
