Trying to get back into this whole "models and painting" business I've let slide for the past two years whilst I do my degree. I pick it back up two weeks before my final exams, of course, but I never said I was logical.

Quite a while back whilst listening to the Protomen my friend and I had the idea of making a Warhammer 30,000/ Megaman cross over. We'd never played Megaman but we enjoyed the Protomen and the simple but interesting characters. Why we decided the two combined would be interesting I will never know, but the idea has stuck with me ever since.

The basic premise is that, co-inciding with the Emperor's rise to power on Terra, the Doctors (Light and Wily) also rose up, using cybernetics and robots instead of gene manipulation. The Emperor has still made the primarchs, and they had still been dispersed, but was usurped just before his great victory*. Knowing he had lost militarily, the Emperor requested to be linked to the Golden Throne, to be a beacon in the astronomicon. The Doctors reigned supreme over Terra, then Mars, then the whole Sol system. With legions of cybernetically enhanced humans lead by "Robot Masters", as well as support armies of both robots and humans, they embarked on the "Reclamation". In the face of new challenges and troubles they would develop new legions, each lead by a Robot Master. Eventually, Wily betrayed Light and drew many of the legions to his side. The only ones which remained loyal were the Megamarines, the first true legion, and some of the secretive second legion.

(Of course the Emperor isn't just an accidental character in 30k, so we're still going to keep him relevant. Just in a different capacity. And don't worry, he's not just stuck in a chair...)

We're developing the fluff as we go along, trying to make a coherent storyline holding everything constant up until just a few years before the conquering of Terra. In terms of aesthetic, we want to keep to  the general Imperial look but smoother and less skulls. As a divergence from the Megaman side, and to combat any lack of "human-ness", we decided the Legionnaires would be cyborgs rather than straight up robots. Each Legion (we also thought of using Gundan, but I don't want to butcher Japanese too often) was developed to progress a certain kind of tactic or to combat a certain issues, with the knowledge being used to improve the tactics of all legions. And each one has a "Robot Master" in commanding role, who is supposed to embody the purpose of the Legion.

To show this isn't all fluff and no substance, I made a Megamarine of the 1st Legion as a start.

C&C welcome. Some obvious criticisms so far:

1. I need a better camera/lighting

2. I don't know how to use 'ardcoat. I have never 'ardcoated a model before so this was an experience. It ended up so shiny!
3. I need to trim shoulder pads better. To be fair, all the filing could be done better.

4. My painting has got sloppier all around

5. I need to make him a base.

6. I have no idea how upload google drive images.

The idea is to have one squad of each of the Robot Masters legions, each with  diorama matching their stage in the games. Unfortunately, there isn't really one for Mega Man, so if anyone has any suggestions I'd be very interested.

Some hopefully better images of the first model, now with base!

I'm really missing my old camera, I'm reduced to my video recorder which takes awful pictures, and my phone camera. Its... okay? But its limited.

What possessed me to use hardcoat I'll never know. Does anyone know a good way to get rid of the sheen?
