We'd love to have you if you are switching across, but I am not sure of the ruling on it.

I roll with the old metal stuff as much as possible. Except bikes and RT Dreadnoughts (although I would like 1 of the old guys just to have in the Army). My Bjorn and one other Dreadnought are 'Dreadsock Compatible' though!

 

It's about time to get EVERYTHING out and take a new Army Picture soon...

Just a wee update:


 


We now have a total of 24,214 points vowed.


 


We have 32 Wolves who have stepped forward with their vows.


 


From the Blood Claws (fist time ETL entrants) Alakinsky is the 13th Warrior.


 


There are still more Wolves and more vows to come


 


I am extremely proud of all of us.


 


But the easy part of making a vow is done!!


 


The hard part is seeing our vows through to the end.


 


So I ask you all to encourage one another and lets enjoy this ETL.


 


I for one know there are some phenomenal craftsmen (and ladies) & some true artisans with a brush. 


 


I can't wait to see what we can achieve as a team.


 


I was gonna save this for when the first vow came in, but...

I haven't been here much lately, real life change and no time, but have been saving these guys since February!  I have plenty more ready if through some miracle I get these punched out with time to spare.

Random question. I assume you use the new plastic arms and guns with the metals. Do they scale properly? I've heard some bas things using parts of wildly different ages thanks to the creeping increase in Marine size since the mid 90s.

Danny, is this thread just for vows or can we add progress updates and things in here as well?

 

I would urge you to start your own 'Work in Progress' thread, Yoyo. That way you can update it as time progress past the ETL, and into next years if you decide to participate again. It also keeps this thread a little cleaner and easier for the 'Good' Captain to navigate. ;)

So how does this work? Do the models have to be unbuilt and unpainted... or just unpainted for a vow to be made? I have lots of unpainted Wolves I can make some vows with biggrin.png

Your models need to be no further along than primed. You can have them built already, or vow kits you plan to build. Just nothing that has had paint on it already.

We'd love to have you on board, prey_fall2_the_grey!! If you decide to join the pack, there is a lot of information within the Fang for your perusal as well as plenty of members who'd love to lend a hand!!

Leif - On scale I find that the arms don't do too bad. The old arms were actually a lot bigger around but shorter in length than the new arms. What DOES get out of whack are the shoulder pads... So I tend to use the very plain ones as the newer, ornate shoulder pads will overwhelm the torso and do some odd things to certain arms.

 

My solution is to try to keep a stash of 'old' shoulder pads and if I've got a very unusual arm (like the fully extended left arm with the bolter that has the wolf head on top and 2 'teeth' sticking out from the clip) I can balance it with the smaller shoulder pad.

 

The worst case scenario is some of the bodies that have twisted torsos have VERY small flat spaces to glue the arm to. A little trimming to the 'deltoid' area of the arm will have to happen first or the arm will protrude from the back too far.

 

Those last two situations really are 'edge cases' and not common. 80% of the time it's about the shoulder pads and not about the arms.

 

Some of those old metal models are REALLY beautiful sculpts and while I don't notice it too much on the table top they do look very nice in the hand. HOPE THAT HELPS!!!
