Need some help with my brotherhood!

Hi all!

So I'm just about to start dipping my toes into all of this 30k goodness and I've decided to go for a legion that I've always loved, but haven't had the stones to attempt until now - the White Scars! However I've hit a fluff based snag and I need your help.

Here's where I'm at right now:

The first eleven marines for my tac squad (please ignore the bases, I was just starting to figure them out when Geedubs released those sexy new city bases!laugh.png) Now the problem i'm having revolves around naming my brotherhood, developing brotherhood markings and then figuring out where to place them.

The theme I'm going for is lots of heavy armour and tanks. They are one of the brotherhoods responsible for breaking though city walls and heavily defended points before the rest of the legion pour through. As my Khan puts it "they are the rock that guides the stream." So that makes me think they should be named something like the Brotherhood of the Shattered Stone, or the guiding path, or something similar. I can't really settle on a scarry sounding name! Any thoughts?

This then leads onto the markings and where to place them. I want my dudes to be as lore consitent as possible, but I'm unsure as to what sort of markings an average 30k White Scar would have. Do they have squad numbers, tactical squad symbols, etc. Any help on that front would be amazing! biggrin.png

Cheers!

In Scars, it's mentioned that the White Scars is a logistical nightmare to work with for the rather rigid Departmento Munitorum, and for that reason, as well as personal preference, I leave mine with only the various red tribal/brotherhood-markings, applied on an individual basis. If your freehand is up to snuff, a white lightning strike in a black rock could work?

Also, Shattered seems to be a popular term amongst the Vth. Legion

Hmm. Now I'm starting to think of something like the Brotherhood of the Sundered Mountain. That way I could potentially tie the background to a feature back on Chogoris.

Cheers for all your help so far guys! You've definitely given me some food for thought. B)
