I'm not going to specifically theme them to the Battle of Phall, but I've always enjoyed the Fists role as void warfare specialists, so my force is going to be based on ship decks. So without further ado, here's the beginnings of my army! The beginnings of my first tactical squad Some pictures of the army to come Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323337-sons-of-dorn-vii-legion-blog-now-with-100-more-volkite/ Share on other sites

Elzender
Your paint scheme looks great and simple to do, wish I could get that yellow so easily And I'm really curious about the bikes, we do not often see Imperial Fists using fast units, it will be a welcome change Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323337-sons-of-dorn-vii-legion-blog-now-with-100-more-volkite/#findComment-4424669 Share on other sites

Somerandomidiot
I've been trying to come up with a scheme for the bikes that won't just look like yellow on the table, and I think I may take my cue from the car world and use this for inspiration. Doing that center strip, and most of the undercarriage in black and silver could look really cool.  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323337-sons-of-dorn-vii-legion-blog-now-with-100-more-volkite/#findComment-4425381 Share on other sites
Knight of the Raven
Nice. If that doesn't work, maybe you can try the scheme Augustus b'Raass used on his attack bike? BlueBelly1863
Wow that yellow is great! The basing is well done also, it goes well with your fists! Like the idea of bikes zipping around in void combat Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323337-sons-of-dorn-vii-legion-blog-now-with-100-more-volkite/#findComment-4425479 Share on other sites

Captain Mike
The usual response: That yellow :') Also very nice basing. Detailed, but not distracting from the models. Somerandomidiot
Progress! I've painted Sigismund and a couple more tactical marines. I tried two different skin tones on Sisigmund and the Tactical Sergeant, and I think I like the Sergeant's better, so I may go back and repaint Sigismund's head. BlueBelly1863
That Sigismund is great! He looks rightly badass. Your Fists look good, I always marvel at a good, solid yellow. I wonder, do you think you'll paint that backpack thats on Sigismund's base? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323337-sons-of-dorn-vii-legion-blog-now-with-100-more-volkite/#findComment-4431236 Share on other sites
Somerandomidiot
That Sigismund is great! He looks rightly badass. Your Fists look good, I always marvel at a good, solid yellow. I wonder, do you think you'll paint that backpack thats on Sigismund's base?  You know, I'd been contemplating that exact thing... I feel like I should paint the backpack and the helmet, and my first idea was to go with an Iron Warriors scheme, but I feel like that'll just disappear into all the metal on the base. I noticed that Forgeworld didn't do much beyond paint a couple details on the base:  Any ideas? Somerandomidiot
Made some more progress over the long weekend (holidays are great for painting!), including the special edition 30th anniversary Imperial Space Marine, the first of my Volkite Caliver marines, and a special weapons marine. I've magnetized both the weapons on my sergeants and the special weapon, so I can easily swap them out. Still to come, I'm hoping to get transfers and weathering on the shoulderpads done this weekend. I'm also realizing that I never finished the eyes on any of my marines... I should really get to that. Here's a picture of my legion force as it stands. And here are individual images of the progress: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323337-sons-of-dorn-vii-legion-blog-now-with-100-more-volkite/#findComment-4437498 Share on other sites

MithrilForge
great stuff as always are the bases the new GW ones?... they look a wee bit down in the detail department although you have made em look good there. your yellow is as ever jealousy inducing but i think your sarge needs some stripe lovin on his chainblade cheers Mithril Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323337-sons-of-dorn-vii-legion-blog-now-with-100-more-volkite/#findComment-4442441 Share on other sites

I'm probably going to replace them with a set of nice resin bases (or make my own) once I've settled on a basing style, but they're good enough for now. I also really like pathatrick's battle for Mars themed Imperial Fists, so there's a chance mine may follow him to Mars, which'd also work to rebase my Imperial Knights. Somerandomidiot
After a crazy weekend at the Bay Area Open 40k tournament, I'm back home and ready to continue working on 30k! Last night I broke out the transfer sheet and applied shoulder transfers to 4 of my infantry. After letting them dry today, I'll be applying a varnish and then weathering/highlighting them to blend them into the models. In the past, I've done freehand chapter symbols, but the Imperial Fists symbol is a bit more complicated than I want to tangle with, especially for an infantry heavy force. Apologies on the lighting on this one, but it gets the point across.
