Starting EC 3rd Company (~2500 pts)

Dear HH fellows,

 

I'm trying a starting list for my EC3CE, which really needs your advice. I'm gonna commission my primarch and so he's not in the list yet (maybe in 3000+ list later).

 

ROW: 3rd Company Elites (Emperor's Children)

 

[Melee Team 1]

Delegatus (Warlord) - artificer armor, refractor field, double claws (master-crafted), MB, jump pack

7 Palatine Blades - sonic shriekers, jump pack, spear & MB for sarge

 

[Melee Team 2]

Command Squad - 3 swords, 2 axes, all sonic shriekers, MBs, and combat shields

Dreadclaw

 

[Kakophoni Commander]

Master of Signal - artificer armor

6 Kakophoni - artificer armor for sarge

Damocles Command Rhino

 

[Kakophoni Teams]

2x 10 Kakophoni - artificer for sarge

2x Rhino

 

[Vehicles]

Contemptor-Mortis - 2x TL lascannons

Javelin - MM, 2x HK missiles

Fire Raptor - 4x HS missiles

Scorpius

Venator

 

 

Roughly 2500 pts. The strategy is simple as shown:

- 2 melee teams counter-attacks the enemy approaching the kakophoni

- MoS confers BS+1 for either a squad of kakophoni or venator

- Dreadclaw & Javelin deepstrike without scattering thanks to the command rhino

- Mortis intercepts the enemy flyer (usually used in my meta)

 

Regarding the palatines, I hope to provide BLOS with a rhino in T1 to mitigate their power armors. Will this work? I'm also not sure of the loadouts for the delegatus and command squad.

 

Unlike 40k, I'm totally a newb to 30k. Any other suggestions are all appreciated!

Not bad for a first attempt! Not bad at all. Couple of suggestions for you though:

 

Never take Hellstrike missiles on Fire Raptors - they're Ordnance weapons, so after you fire 1, everything else Snap Fires. Stick with the free Tempest rockets and take a Reaper autocannon battery instead.

 

A Phoenix power spear on the Delegatus is better than a pair of LC's. If you take one, I'd give him a boarding shield instead of a refractor field, as it'll give the unit defensive grenades. Does he have a sonic shrieker? Also, take at least 1 power fist in the Command Squad.

 

In the world of anti-air Dreadnoughts, Deredeo > Kheres Mortis > lascannon Mortis. Kheres assault cannons are half the range of lascannons, but they dish out more hurt. Totally up to you though.

 

MoS is good, but probably unnecessary. I'd max out the 3rd Kakophoni unit and take dozer blades on the Rhinos and Venator.

Regarding the anti-air, I gotta go kheres mortis cause there's no room for my heavy support slot. And MoS...I agree with your advice, but I've already ordered the product (mostly for the champ for future Maru Skara). I'll follow your suggestion for all the other units. Thanks again!

One more question. Isn't it a bit dangerous for the command squad to bring three unwieldy weapons (1 fist and 2 axes) out of five?
