If we had thought times were hard for the Imperium of Man due to the Thirteenth Black Crusade, then we knew nothing of what has lurked in the shadows for us here. The Kymara sub-sector lies in the Western Fringe of the Ultima Segmentum and sits along the Malestrom. Such a thing has given it great prosperity and great danger, as such things are seen throughout the galaxy.” "Currently we have been unable to regain contact with one of our Imperial Mining Stations, Alpha -67c on Kymara. Imperium forces only control four systems out of the eight within the sub-sector. The sub-sector capitol of Josufa, which is positioned in the center and has had a shaky foothold throughout the last century, but that could be lost.” "Reports have been flooding in for the past decade now on new dangers. The Xenos and Renegade threats have been growing in number and daring, moving out further and more aggressively from various locations. We are afraid one our worlds might become a xenos or renegade vile nest. Aid from several Adeptus Astartes Chapters has been requested in an attempt to assist in exterminating these xenos and renegade threats.” "The last Adeptus Arbites Patrol sent to Kymara in an attempt to regain contact with Alpha-67c has not reported in -- much like the previous 6 such patrols. The Sub-Sector Adeptus Arbites Precinct has filed several more complaints with the Administratum, protesting the lack of initiative on the sub-sector Governor's part to look further into the issue. The old legends about there being several technologically advanced xenos and renegades within the area continue to dissuade their desire to reach them. The local Ecclesiarch has already sent a report via channels to the Inquisition, requesting advice and help in this heretical matter.” "Much is happening beneath the surface events however, Commander. I can feel it. I can only hope that with your arrival that the Imperium of Man will emerge victorious...even through it is against training to entertain doubt, I feel worried. Things are happening within the sub-sector and for all I know, things will not be brighter on the other side."++END MESSAGE+++ UPDATED 05/19/2017: War009's Raptor 10th company Plog is built around the idea of an All Scout army with very little Power Armour (HQs and Elites only) supported by various other vehicles to give the army the punch it needs. This is a slow moving plog, is built for fun and no way intended to be for competive use, some conversions, and rule of cool is in effect. In preparation for 8th I have broken down the selections as follows. As a model is completed a link will be added to it. UPDATED 07/20/2020: WAR009's Raptors 10th Company Plog has been changed from an all Scout army to focusing on the 2 elements that make up the 10th Company: Vanguard and Scouts. The Army will be comprised of the those 2 elements and support from various other companies.10th Company Shadow Captain Admar Voss has crossed the Rubicon and became a Primaris Marine and is overall Commander of the Raptor Forces on Khymara. UPDATED 02/2022: WAR009' Raptors 10th Company Plog has been forced to change gears due to 9e rules changes. The Army will consisit of mainly Phobos armor units with Support in the form of different detachments from the 2nd Company, Armory and Various Headquarters staffing. some units may be deleted and other units may be added over time Update 01/2024 : My Raptors Chapter has been disbanded and no longer. Relic
Raptors without Lias? :O I'd probably go heavier in on the scouts, bare bones bolter caddies with a combi-grav on the sarges, they are quite good! Lots of scouts is a good base. Even in a fluff list, I don't think going with power mauls on vet sarges is the best idea, imo, or the heavy weapons on scouts, as i'd prefer to keep them mobile. Race Bannon
Lisa boosts bolter weapons though. Without those in number then ... meh. I sort of agree on power mauls, yet that's more of a "if I get into CC" versus "when I get into CC"' you know? Relic
? Raptor chapter tactics give everyone with bolters/bolt pistols, the rending rule if they don't move. Lias manipulates reserves and the like, although a scout army will waste his warlord trait, unless you want to model up some devs as scouts or ruffle up some sternguard. Race Bannon
Whoops my bad, must be getting old. Still, for all Lias is, the Warlord trait is "neat", but does not make or break him as a choice. Agreed it's wasted on a Scout army, but the theme is cool enough and open up the warlord table for the HQ. In my humble opinion ^_^ WAR 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323795-wars-raven-guard-raptors/#findComment-4439920 Share on other sites

Not a fan of taking the Chapter Master on an 10th company "training mission" And personally not a fan of grav weapons......and considering the amount of xenos (nids, tau, eldar) I will be facing, not sure it is worth it. Lisa boosts bolter weapons though. Without those in number then ... meh. I sort of agree on power mauls, yet that's more of a "if I get into CC" versus "when I get into CC"' you know? While lias is cool his abilities are truly lost on the scouts Normally I would take axes and fists but considering the Nid threat and the fact they will be in melee I feel strength 6 is better than striking last or a strength 4 hit ? Raptor chapter tactics give everyone with bolters/bolt pistols, the rending rule if they don't move. Lias manipulates reserves and the like, although a scout army will waste his warlord trait, unless you want to model up some devs as scouts or ruffle up some sternguard. I'm doing the 10th company....so count as devs are a no go. Eventually Sternguard will appear but that will be post campaign (starts at 1000 pts ends at 2500 pts) Whoops my bad, must be getting old. Still, for all Lias is, the Warlord trait is "neat", but does not make or break him as a choice. Agreed it's wasted on a Scout army, but the theme is cool enough and open up the warlord table for the HQ. In my humble opinion ^_^ And there is the 3rd reason not to take lias. jpwyrm
Agreed, the strongest benefit for taking Lias is his ability to Infiltrate 3 non vehicle units. Though his other abilities would fit the 10th Company theme, I also think the Chapter Master should not bother accompanying a training exercise contingent. That said, I think the Predators and Dreadnought are odd choices as well. I would replace them with Land Speeder Storm and Stormtalons to better mesh with a scout force, giving you even more mobility, transport capacity and quite flexible firepower. You might want to include some meltabombs to tackle MC in CC. Since you don't have the usual suspects to deal with those (Centurions Devastators, grav command squads or Sternguards) you'll probably have to chip at them in multiple shooting phases and your scouts will eventually get stuck in CC with one. Might as well throw a Str8 AP2 bomb in their face out of spite. Who knows, that one lucky sergeant might take the last wound off a Carnifex! jpwyrm
Great start war009! I really dig the Anvil Industry parts you added, it reinforce the Legendary Marksmen SR and the fact they don't have access to a full astartes auto-senses. Captain Voss is great - could even be used as a Lias Issodon stand-in when playing larger games. It's a shame there is no place for specialist HQs in 40k like there is in 30K - I could certainly see a 10th company captain using a special vox to call down artillery strike and coordinate reserves. WAR
So I got distracted with another game system but finally got around to working on my raptors again......and buying Deathwatch stuff Here is my new Predator designated Vulture I Front View Rear view Barrel Difference [ The barrel will have camo netting draped on it to on the front and some kind of identifier will be put on it to signify where I actually measure from. The other shapeway stuff i ordered was too small so I scrapped that idea. I still need to fill the bustle rack with stuff. I found more sand bags to add to it on top of the sponsons. And I need to add more gear to the turret add tracks and mount the hedgerow cutter.
