duz_
Wow impressive work! Most of my "repaint" pile are stripped unprimed minis  Â So definitely envious of what you've managed to achieve! WAR
Wow impressive work! Most of my "repaint" pile are stripped unprimed minis  So definitely envious of what you've managed to achieve!  What was the motivation behind this monumental task?  My Pewter Sisters of battle are in that same pile/  You shouldnt be. I almost died in the garage.....110* but i was motivated to get it done  So a few things motivated me for the task:  I was never fully happy with how my first raptors looked. I wanted to change to urban base for all my armies to keep one warzone idea for all of them to take part of. My GF telling me to take time to work on models and cranking out 43 power level of grey knights in a short time (a few weeks) was an amazing feeling. Entering 3 challenges (Lockdown, Nurgle and Back to Badab) I had to give my self specific goals to reach. Between the Nurgle Challenge and the Back to Badab Challenge, I was able to fully try the Mighty Brush method. The 3 models I completed for the Back to Badab and Nurgle Challenges became my favorite models I completed in recent time. Knowing that I socialize with the best group of guys and gals in the Ravenspire that are also amazing painters on here and push me to do better even tho I refer to my painting style as a big crayon. Pride in the army. I love Adepta Sororitas but I am never happy with their paint schemes. Grey Knights and their individual heraldry markings gets tideous. Raptors are that army where I get to Camo, weather, add tons of storage to them, make modifications and it fits into their army. And if i complete my Back to Badab Kill Team Challenge (Due Dec 28, 2020) of a 19 member Kill Team. Im gonna paint my Stormeagle for my Raptors. duz_ 1 Back to top
thewarriorhunter
I think it looks great, and I'm even more impressed that you did that in your garage. You're crazy man. Stay hydrated! WAR 1 Back to top
WAR
Oh I was hydrated on sugar free energy drinks ......it was about 3 hrs start to finish cleaning airbrush with actual painting around 2 hours.  Yeah told my gf once we are settled into our new house I’m getting my own setup instead of using my dads and getting a spray both so I can spray inside duz_ 1 Back to top
duz_
Commendable effort indeed and fume hoods are great for airbrush Especially if you can stick the tubing out a window! WAR 1 Back to top
WAR
And the first 5 of 19 for my "Back to Badab" Kill Team Challenge are done besides making the slings for 2 guns... After that I airbrushed the first wash on to the Scout bikes, Land Speeders and Predator. And sInce I completed those I decided to be torture myself and startign decaling everything except the scout bikes, land speeders, and Predator. I really must hate myself. Picture before I started all the 25 scouts (cause 4 have camo cloaks and no decals needed) And then adding their designation markings, squad numbers and Company markings And to end the holiday weekend I built the last 2 suppressors from Shadowspear box and built 5 incursors (Friend and I split the box) No pics Bjorn Firewalker and duz_ 2 Back to top

WAR
Thanks my pace seems fast but its actually cause I'm off Thursday to Sunday and my GF works Monday- Fridays so I spend most of the day painting/ modeling on Friday, which this weekend I was able to hobby Wednesday night to Sunday on and off between BBQing at my parents saturday, going back over to my parents for dinner Sunday evening, CCW class on Sunday morning duz_ 1 Back to top

WAR
Thanks Bjorn.  I forgot to mention my Raptors acquried a 5 man Mk IV Sternguard Squad and a 5 man Mk IV Vanguard Squad from my defunct attempt at HH Emperor's Children. Some Shoulder pad replacements and weapon mods and they will be good to go. This Sternguard squad is getting DW Veteran Shoulder pads and lightning claws on the vangaurd squad duz_ 1 Back to top
WAR
In the Raptors FB Group Matt B posted his camo Infiltrator Conversion to show the paint scheme. I was more interested in the Head swap. Not My Model I was thinking of building a 5 man squad of guys with Mk X heads, reiver grav chute vanes, more pouches and Assault bolter mags as Para commando unit. Since my Raptors forces are Primarily 10th Co Scouts and Vanguard marines. Should I Count them as Infiltrators or Veteran Intercessors? duz_
Depends what kinda intercessor load out you said they were carrying
WAR
box mags from the intercessors for the autobolt rifles so if they were Veterans autobolters with 1 grenade launcher. or stock Infiltrators with no grenade launcher of course Edited July 8, 2020 by war009
duz_
Tbh you could run as either Personally I like the idea of vet intercessors but as long as you're consistent during a game it could be either from one game to the next WAR 1 Back to top
Dracos
That’s a tricky one. The Phobos armor will be the first thing anyone notices. The Infiltrator backpacks are very telling of what the model is suppose to be. Which Bolter version a Marine is using is about the second to last thing anyone pays attention to imo. WAR
Yeah they would have to consistently be used as unit X and not Unit X and then Unit Y.  That's what I was thinking too. I think if I go the intercessor route they would have the normal Mk X shoulder pads and back pack just to further enforce that they are not Infiltrators
thewarriorhunter
if you're running intercessors and another phobos unit (reiver/infiltrator/incursors) I think it gets tricky because now you're mixing armor types and as Dracos said armor is the first and most identifiable feature that your opponent will see. If they're the only phobos unit you have on the table then it gets a lot cleaner.
WAR
yeah I probably should build them as infiltrators.........since most of my force is vanguard and scouts, with some firstborn thrown in. Ill debate on it more. Not like I bought the models yet.
WAR
So time for my Monday update. Painted the weapons casings: Then started painting White, Red, Green, and Brown (tan). The tan took forever. and then finally started the black boots and hair and ran out of steam. Friday I meet a friend at the GW Store between us and gave him his half of the incursors, and a bunch of militarum tempestus scions, taroxs, and valkyrie that was missing pieces that i received in trade that i was never gonna use. I did get a crashed aquila lander and pewter cawdor gang. Should put me over 70 Cawdor minituares in pewter. Saturday I did preorder Indomintus, combat guage, cards, Chapter Approved and Crusade Journal through GW. duz_ 1 Back to top

WAR
yeah i just got tired and had to cook dinner so called it a night. Only 20 more scouts need Hair and boots painted. Then I can do the cloaks base color and metallics. After that i'll do washes then probably work on individual squads to allow more focus on individaul squads for highlights. duz_ 1 Back to top
Sergeant_Angle
Your stuff is fantastic. I love the green you've achieved! Seeing all those scouts makes me nervous. I have about 20 pewter ones that I am dreading painting. WAR 1 Back to top
