Blood Angels Devastators

Recommended Posts

After much lurking on this forum, and honing of long rusted painting skills, I've finally reached the point where I'm comfortable with sharing some of my recent WIP.

My eternal gratitude goes to LutherMax of this parish who generously shared his painting process for Blood Angels, and inspired/encouraged me to adapt it for my own use. I've almost completed the other members of this squad and will add them once I've done so.

Thanks for looking.

Typical! As soon as I posted the pictures, I noticed a few things that have been missed. Ah well....Up next (assuming I don't get sidetracked by another project) are these guys:

If i could offer some C&C, it'd be to pick out the weapon casing in another colour, black maybe. Just to break up the big block of metallics.

C&C is always welcome - and you are quite right, it does need something to break up all that metal. I appreciate the suggestion.

Thank you. Here's my recipe for the blue:

1. Grey primer.
2. Basecoat with Game Air Ultramarine Blue (72.722).
3. Spray shading with Game Air Imperial Blue (72.720).
4. Spray highlights with Game Air Magic Blue (72.721).
5. Spray another highlight (more focused) with Model Air Light Sea Blue (71.089).
7. Brush the cracks and crevices with Imperial Blue.
7. Spray Model Air Blue (71.004) all over. This colour is moderately translucent, and I used just 1 coat but more can be added at your discretion.
8. Edge highlight with Game Air Magic Blue (72.721).
