Brother Desultor
After much lurking on this forum, and honing of long rusted painting skills, I've finally reached the point where I'm comfortable with sharing some of my recent WIP. My eternal gratitude goes to LutherMax of this parish who generously shared his painting process for Blood Angels, and inspired/encouraged me to adapt it for my own use. I've almost completed the other members of this squad and will add them once I've done so. Thanks for looking. Brother Desultor
Thank you. LutherMax
Wondrous to behold! You've taken that process to another level! Â The deep blue on the helmets is lovely too... Arkaniss
Very nice indeed! :D I always like seeing a selection of Blood Angels with their different helmet colours - the Devastators blue is highly under-represented. Lord Commander Eidolon
I really like the deep blue, very rich and vibrant. Great job! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324032-blood-angels-devastators/#findComment-4446035 Share on other sites
Capt Carl
Nice. That coat of yellow in your process is very interesting. Looking at the finished one I can see how it adds a lot. Awesome figures! eggroll
Another BA painter! Awesome. Really like how the colours turned out for both the red and blue. Look forward to seeing the painted models. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324032-blood-angels-devastators/#findComment-4446567 Share on other sites

Brother Desultor
And here (finally) is the finished Devastator squad: Typical! As soon as I posted the pictures, I noticed a few things that have been missed. Ah well....Up next (assuming I don't get sidetracked by another project) are these guys: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324032-blood-angels-devastators/#findComment-4457525 Share on other sites
MagicMan
They look really good fella. Â Â If i could offer some C&C, it'd be to pick out the weapon casing in another colour, black maybe. Just to break up the big block of metallics. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324032-blood-angels-devastators/#findComment-4457570 Share on other sites

Just to break up the big block of metallics. Â C&C is always welcome - and you are quite right, it does need something to break up all that metal. I appreciate the suggestion. Charlo
Absolutely incredible. I'll second the blue! How do you do that?! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324032-blood-angels-devastators/#findComment-4457595 Share on other sites
Brother Desultor
Thank you. Here's my recipe for the blue: Â 1. Grey primer. 2. Basecoat with Game Air Ultramarine Blue (72.722). 3. Spray shading with Game Air Imperial Blue (72.720). 4. Spray highlights with Game Air Magic Blue (72.721). 5. Spray another highlight (more focused) with Model Air Light Sea Blue (71.089). 7. Brush the cracks and crevices with Imperial Blue. 7. Spray Model Air Blue (71.004) all over. This colour is moderately translucent, and I used just 1 coat but more can be added at your discretion. 8. Edge highlight with Game Air Magic Blue (72.721).
