01RTB01
Morning all, Rad grenades -1 to opponents' toughness in combat. If you had two squads of destroyers in combat would it be -1/-2? I'm presuming it's not cumulative but I'd like to check. Thanks in advance. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324249-rad-grenades/ Share on other sites
LtDan
No they don't. But rad missiles or deathguard relic does Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324249-rad-grenades/#findComment-4452551 Share on other sites

Shaolin_Monkey
The way they are written they actually do stack I believe. Each unit that assaults causes a -1T, characters in a unit become part of the unit so they don't count as extra units but two units of destroyers will reduce T by 2. Slips
IIRC, Rad Phage is the only radiation rule that does not stack. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324249-rad-grenades/#findComment-4453499 Share on other sites
Brother Aiwass
That's very cool from a Blackshield (outlander) perspective, as pretty much every squad leader can (I say must!) have rad grenades. Slips
Charge 4 units into a single T4 Squad and Instagib them all with 0 Toughness? ....I ain't 100% about that life, yo. Brother Aiwass
Yes, that crossed my mind too, but I thought it couldn't be possible. I don't know if a unit can be instakilled that way, however T6 MCs would be dealt with much easier. shandwen
RAW the effect does stack... But I will never be that guy and stack it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324249-rad-grenades/#findComment-4453522 Share on other sites
BLACK BLΠFLY
If you reduce T to 0 the unit is automatically slain IIRC. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324249-rad-grenades/#findComment-4453818 Share on other sites

IronDrake28
Do you really want to charge multiple units into a single enemy though, unless it's a uber deathstar there's no point trying to get so many units into one combat surely? LtDan
Where does it say they stack guys? As I was pretty sure they didn't. Cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324249-rad-grenades/#findComment-4454298 Share on other sites
BLACK BLΠFLY
They don't unless the rules specifically state they do. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324249-rad-grenades/#findComment-4454355 Share on other sites
Paradigm
They don't unless the rules specifically state they do. Where does it say this? I'm putting together an Ashen Claw force and am curious about this. I just want a definitive answer, so I can go read it and show it to others if need be. Slips
Alright. Things that have Rad that stack: Rad Grenades and other rad grenades Rad Grenades and Rad Phage (the rule) Rad Grenades and the Barbaran Thurible Rad Grenades and a Rad Furnace Rad Grenades, the Barbaran Thurible, Rad Phage and Rad Furnace for a Total possible of -4T with each successive unit equipped with Rad grenades charging in increasing this by -1. Only works on a multi-wound model that survives being wounded by the Rad Phage Weapon. Rad weapons that do not stack: Rad Phage with itself Rad Furnaces with itself Barbaran Thurible since its a unique relic (???) Slips
Also, do note that if you reduce a unit to 0 Toughness, they're automatically removed from play, iirc. See that T10 GMC? Do the above -4T Combo and pile on 6 more Rad Grenade units and *poof* gone. That 50 Man Fearless Rending T3 Cultist Blob got you down? 1 Rad Furnace Unit, 1(2) Rad Grenade Units and a Barbaran Thurible and *poof* gone before they could even swing. Paradigm
Cool, I was thinking the grenades stacked. The wording implies it for sure. I couldn't find anything suggesting otherwise and this came up in conversation earlier today at my flgs. Shaolin_Monkey
The big one that often confuses is that rad grenades do not stack when a character with them joins a unit with them. They then count as just one unit charging and only confer -1T. If the character does not join the unit and charges separately then you have two units charging which gives a -2T.
