Argh...sorry for the far-too-long delay in posting, been adjusting to new job, new sleep pattern and other stuff. Still...I finally got some proper work done on my army's wheels, first of all this ex-Word Bearers Rhino:

Now, the eagle-eyed will already have noticed that there are a total of 10 trophies on this Rhino, 9 skulls and one head. The head being that of Axillus, until recently a Champion of the Word Bearers and the man whose ride this was. Now, what's more evil than cutting off the head of your enemy and mounting it on a spike above the door of his own Rhino, so that you can gloat at it every time you go in? Attaching it to a life-support mechanism, so that he has to watch you doing it :D

Axillus. Quite probably regretting some of his recent life choices.

This Rhino obviously isn't weathered yet, but the idea is it's only very recently been captured by Pandemic (they had a serious run-in with some Word Bearers during the 13th Black Crusade hijinks); they got some serfs to respray it just to cover up the Word Bearers red, but they kept the iconography shiny and polished just to mock Lorgar's boys even more.

And here's the first of the Rhinos I did ages ago as a somewhat rush job to get them ready for a game; I was never happy with how they looked, so have re-done them with a bunch of green stuff work, extra Dremel scraping and more weapons:

Note the bare-metal panels; I wanted to convey the idea that parts had been so badly damaged they had to be replaced with freshly-welded parts )inspired by a van up the road from where I live that some guy appears to be doing the same on), and Plague Marines being Plague Marines they didn't give enough of a :cuss about appearances to paint them at all, just left them bare metal. Come the weathering-and-rust stage of painting, this should look fun; I'm actually looking forward to painting this now (along with the other 5 Rhinos I'm working on right now).

Whilst you said you've kept the former symbols clean as a sign of mockery, I quite like the idea of Nurglings having chucked some unnamable smears across them to desecrate them further.

Regardless, best Death Guard log in my eyes and I always eagerly await more!

Taking a brief respite from doing the Rhinos (doing 5 vehicles at once is quite the task) to enter the 'Squaduary' mission on the Steppping between Games blog: http://steppingbetweengames.com/squaduary-goes-live-stage-1  Here's my entry, a squad of veteran Plague Marines, all in heavily weathered Mk. 2-4 armour pieces; only 6 in thsi shot, in the middle of constructing number 7 right now...

Awesome work as usual! I assume the yellow backpack guy will get some more guts too? And looking forward to seeing the 7th veteran.

Oh hell yeah, that's just the GS I smooth in around the spacer I add at the waist joint to give the model more of a truescale proportion. Work stated on vet no.7 last night...

Great sculpting as usual, they look as disgusting as plague marines should. I would however try to give the some more bulk, I think that they look too thin with your truescaling considering they are nurgle marines which should be quite bulky. That said that tall and thin look makes them even creepier, which might have been for what you went for since the beggining.

These guys will be bulky - remember the sculpting is barely started on some of them, some just have the filler around the central waist spacer and nothing else (I started on the guts on some of them last night).  I do have plans for some skinny dudes though, they'll be very, very emaciated 'desiccated mummy' Nurgle Marines to be my Raptors...

Current state of play on some of the models from the Plague Veterans squad; for some reason the flash just would not fire on the shot of the champ, but meh.

Man, these are absolutely lovely! i'm studying your GS techniques for the nurgle mutations to try to emulate some of it on my plague boys :)
i have been checking your entrail spilling marines and have a question, do you sculpt the guts first, then make the skin layer separate then apply the skin over the spilling guts or is it all simultaneous? i wanted to achieve more crisp details in the gut to skin flap relation part

And here's the entire finished squad...

...rather pleased with how they've come out :)

As always, all feedback is welcomed...

Brilliant GS work as usual! I love the variety in mutations and guts you've given to the squad. How are you doing the battle damage if you don't mind me asking? The damage looks really nice and I'd love to try it out myself someday.
