Warsmith Uveron
 Does that mean he used his 'Bye month'?   I dont know, i checked and actually none of the 3 listed had placed a Vow this month, With 4 days to go I suppose they can get it done, but thats going to be a quick vow. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325762-a-tale-of-20-hobbyists-2016/page/16/#findComment-4546145 Share on other sites
Augustus b'Raass
Brother Androcles has actually only ever made one post, this one, and that's the post with which he enlisted to this event. I don´t want to pull the ´veteran frater´ card, but perhaps we should have been at least a little more critical with enlistment criteria. There's frater who couldn't join because of slots full... Dosjetka
This is Psycho's first rodeo. I think we should cut him some slack and chalk it up to inexperience. Besides, it was obvious from the start that a few would stop after a while and if there's a core of motivated people pushing forward, posting progress, creating a small community, then there's a good chance that a majority of us will pull through! I don´t want to pull the ´veteran frater´ card, but perhaps we should have been at least a little more critical with enlistment criteria. There's frater who couldn't join because of slots full... I should note having now re-read all the threads... It is only Brother Androcles who has dropped of the map. Lionofjudah and Player 404 both posted at some points saying this month was become or was going to be crazy. (Player 404 said back in his intial post he had Exams this month, which I wish him well with! and explains his absence) This is Psycho's first rodeo. I think we should cut him some slack and chalk it up to inexperience. Besides, it was obvious from the start that a few would stop after a while and if there's a core of motivated people pushing forward, posting progress, creating a small community, then there's a good chance that a majority of us will pull through! Absolutely! But as a Group we should talk about this at this point in the month, so we can reach out to try and support the others who may be flagging! Augustus b'Raass
This is Psycho's first rodeo. I think we should cut him some slack and chalk it up to inexperience. What I wrote wasn't criticism of Psycho in any way! If anything, I was critical of Brother Androcles. My point was I think it's a shame for the Frater who wanted to join, but couldn't because the enlistment was full. This event was promoted to required dedication above and beyond ´normal´ events, I´m not sure I agree with the analyses that it´s OK to drop out as long as a small core pushes through. We´re here as a group to support each other to pull through - that does require at least an update on how you´re doing (or expect you're going to do, like 404 and lionofjudah and kurama did). Doubly so if you need some help - so the rest can pick up on it and help you with motivational speeches and the occasional poke. ;) It's totally OK to not succeed - RL can be a pain sometimes - as long as you show dedication to your goals and to the others. That's what this event is about, right? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325762-a-tale-of-20-hobbyists-2016/page/16/#findComment-4546187 Share on other sites
Dosjetka
Oh, I completely agree and didn't think you were necessarily criticising Psycho. Sorry if it came across that way. :) Â And yes, I agree that we should all endeavour to help each other out and overcome our respective difficulties. That said, if someone decides to drop out then while it's a shame, it's his decision and his decision alone. We should offer our help but not pressure the person in question (not saying that you are, mind you). Â Anyway, I told Psycho I was going to post my "I'm done, sorry folks" message tonight but... gah, your post has made me reconsider, Augustus. I think I'll see how the next month pans out and try and do what I can to finish my first vow and start the second one. If it really doesn't go well, I'll drop out at the end of next month. How does that sound? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325762-a-tale-of-20-hobbyists-2016/page/16/#findComment-4546192 Share on other sites

I also think trying to see where you are a few weeks into December. if your only running a few weeks behind (aka on Vow 2 but not ready for 3) its ok as you should be able to make it up in the future. You have also started with one of the bigger units on your list, some of the smaller projects (like the HQ) should help you make up ground. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325762-a-tale-of-20-hobbyists-2016/page/16/#findComment-4546195 Share on other sites

Dosjetka
I figured I should also post up my progress so far, even if I won't make it by the deadline: Close-up of the half-way-there Fulmentarus and the test model I painted a month or so ago: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325762-a-tale-of-20-hobbyists-2016/page/16/#findComment-4546200 Share on other sites
Soldier of Dorn
Right then. Sorry for my absence, again. Swear it'll be the last time I just sorta disappear, 'pon my family's Legion's honor. Â Regarding everyone who's gone silent, I'm doing my best to sort all that out. Sent a few PMs out earlier this month, a few people got back to me, some didn't. I'll keep working on it though. Â Now, regards Brother Androcles specifically: As I am given to understand it, the B&C has had a long-standing stance that the post count, or how long one has been a member, should be irrelevant when considering what they can contribute to any discussion or group project, hence why we really have no system of ranks based thereupon, unlike some other forums. We don't judge based on post count, but on what you can contribute. Hence why there was no requirement regarding veterancy of membership, or something similar. It would have been contrary to the forum's very principles, as I understand them. Â That being said, I am learning from everything that's happening. If it happens that I run this or a similar event next year, it should run much smoother. Â In any event, I'll make sure to go through and update everyone's completions. Congratulations to everyone who's completed what they have so far: progress looks... well, a lot better than my own. :P I'll have a more detailed response to everyone later on. mactire
I'm kinda slow to being making any point here, as I'm the worst in the world for going off grid and then frantically getting my vow in by the skin of my teeth. I was wondering if anyone does drop out, as in they pm The Psycho, for legitimate reasons, maybe they took on too much or RL just threw up too much crap, could any of the other interested people be drafted in. I know they would have lost a month but some of the Frater on here seem to be painting machines, so I'm not sure if that would actually hurt them. The only reason I say this is it would be nice to finish with a group of 20. Again, I promise next month to be more involved, that was kinda the reason I got into this in the first place. This will be my bye month and I am sorry that Ive not been present on the boards with you. The last 2 months have been slightly all over the place in RL....We adopted a puppy,  My wifes uncle passed away and left her as Executrix of his estate which has involved a numerous amount of ridiculous phone calls and legalese frustrations, our bookkeeper placed a few numbers in the wrong columns of our ledgers and then gave that to our accountant to file for our business which has led to months of frustrations, interns continue to 'get sick' an hour or less before they are supposed to arrive for their shifts, my ex-wife moved an hour away so I am separated from my son for the first time, my parents let me know 2 months ago that they are moving 5 states away asap and I have literally been spinning my wheels as fast as possible to keep from feeling like Im sinking. Ive started to post here several times and have had phone connection issues/ client interruptions, weird internet 'surges' where my posting gets wiped out (ok...usually happens when Im tired and push a wrong button and everything disappears=====FRUSTRATIONS) and I have literally had 2 hours to paint in the last month. I have assembled a few dudes, primed 2 rhinos and a spartan, purchased some fun new toys for the tabletop and am working hard to maintain my ZEAL!!! ok.. feeling better right now and hope to high heaven that I can get a picture posted tomorrow that simply shows everything I have been working on. I have to say, as I've also said before, that I've fallen in love with Brother SP's Chapter scheme. Just love it. There so needs to be a blush emoticon on here. Thanks mate, I just wont mention it is blatantly ripped off the Word Bearers scheme. And thanks all for the encouraging comments. Has made me feel a bit better about my crappy photo skills . @Dos: Thanks mate. Kinda consider you a standard to try and reach so much appreciative of any kudos you give. As for basing I am thinking an overgrown urban theme. So mostly dark blue/grey cork "concrete" and debris with occasional static grass clumps and various other skulls/detritus/gubbins scattered through out. Maybe some urban grating, diamond plate and markings. Meant to represent both their home world of Megara as well as Ascarron. I figure the dark blue and green tones will of set the red and brown tones of the models. Also, loving the crisp blue on your Ultras. And I love that Apothecary head as I said in your other topic. I must say I will be very disappointed in you if you pull out. @Augustus: Damn I love the guys you produce. So awesome. In regards to decals, I must admit I have never liked them. I have hundreds and hundreds of sheets of them lying around (If anyone wants any of them, just ask). And with the Chapter icon being free-hand I figured the rest may as well be. And as Dos pointed out I am attempting to push myself as much as possible. But thanks and I do get where you are coming from. They would be so much neater if I could manage decals... but at least this way they are all different. @ Kurama: @SW1: I did post a icon pic in my IA article for you but I can always throw down another. Hang on a second... So basically an R with a five link chain over it. @Ulveron: Nope, November. I am going to complete my October vow in November... Either that or my head is so mixed up at the moment I forgot who or where or when I am. @lionofjudah: I love your screen name mate. I really do... And I hope things ease up in RL for you mate. I know whats its like. Looking forward to what you manage to some up with. @mactire: I second this idea. But only for the first month. After that it should be a survival of the fittest. If brothers fall then thats it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325762-a-tale-of-20-hobbyists-2016/page/16/#findComment-4546482 Share on other sites
