Tzen
Pleasantly surprised to see my Thousand Sons Contemptor Dreadnought in this month's issue of White Dwarf. It's always pretty amazing when I am lucky enough to get my minis in this magazine, it will never ever get old to me. Tzen
So, I am determined this year to “finish” my Thousand Sons army. They are my favourite flavour of Space Marine, but I don’t have a fully painted force of them. With this in mind I have recently finished a test model for Tzaangors. I have approximately 80 or so Tzaangors to paint, and I needed a scheme that wouldn’t take forever, but wouldn’t look too shabby up close. Pretty happy with the results. The highlights aren’t as crisp as they could be, but I have two Shamans in my force, so I can spend some quality time on those! http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/tzaangor1.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/tzaangor2.jpg Brother Chaplain Ryld, StraightSilver, Bjorn Firewalker and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326483-tzens-completed-thousand-sons/page/3/#findComment-5345987 Share on other sites

Tzen
Thanks Bjorn! So, this is the first of the 80 Tzaangors I need to get painted. http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/tzaangorsfirst5.jpg The plan is to paint five of these guys up "Quickly" and then treat myself to something else. This could be something else to do with my Thousand Sons, or something totally different. Just trying to make sure I don't suffer from Tzaangor-fatigue! Tzen
Thanks man, I have tried to do them justice whilst also having a quick scheme to do! :D Another Tzaangor completed. That's now 6/80 gors done! Slowly adding to the pile! As an aside I tried to take a little more time on this chap. Not a crazy amount of time, but I paid some attention to his gems and the potion on his belt. It's still a gaming piece so nothing mental. http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/tzaansham4.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/tzaansham2.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/tzaansham3.jpg Kythnos, Marshal Reinhard, Bjorn Firewalker and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326483-tzens-completed-thousand-sons/page/3/#findComment-5355138 Share on other sites

antique_nova
I agree with the White Dwarves. These are some beautifully painted minis! Question. Did they just photoshop your images or did they actually request that you bring them in for them to photo? Because I love those lava bases and I've painted a thousand son's army before and if I were to have it again. I'd ask for it to be painted like yours! :P Tzen 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326483-tzens-completed-thousand-sons/page/3/#findComment-5355373 Share on other sites
Tzen
Thanks Nova! :D I have taken some minis to warhammer world in the past, but I just sent them the original photos I had taken, and they do all the digital magic at their end. You do need a pretty decent photo though. You end up sending loads till you get it right :D So, this is the second Daemon Prince/Contemptor Dread conversion I completed, but it is technically the third one. As it is the one showing the most corruption. I really enjoyed this project, and I have had to prevent myself from going too overboard with it, as it is a gaming piece. But I am happy with how he has turned out! http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/dpdone1-1.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/dpdone1-3.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/dpdone1-4.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/dpdone1-2.jpg Quixus, Wraith776, Shinespider and 5 others 8 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326483-tzens-completed-thousand-sons/page/3/#findComment-5370398 Share on other sites

antique_nova
Lol. Awesome work. I do have mixed feelings about the DP conversion, but you did a splendid job of it! I highly doubt that you'll do this, but I'd like to see your take on Jim Vasal's 2000 pt list in your own style of painting! I mean his looks great, but still. :) Also, do you have a tutorial for your lava bases? Because I'd love to see how you did it! :) Tzen 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326483-tzens-completed-thousand-sons/page/3/#findComment-5370942 Share on other sites
Tzen
Thanks chaps! And totally understand the mixed feelings! :D Do you gave a link to Jim Vasal's list? I couldn't find it on the google! I don't have a tutorial for the bases yet, I plan on doing one soon. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326483-tzens-completed-thousand-sons/page/3/#findComment-5371011 Share on other sites
