Jud's Sons of Horus

The Pounder

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies and gents.

I've been playing 30k for just over a year now.

I love my Ultramarines but thought it was time to do something a bit different.

My gaming group all field loyalist legions, so I thought I'd take one for

the team and field a traitor force.

I perused the boards and Forgeworld site and have decided on Sons of Horus.

Below is a model I built from my bitz box, I think he'll be a Praetor for now

until I find a better model.

I've ordered 20 MKIV marines to start with, I intend on mixing in some Chaos

bitz here and there to add to diversity and set them apart from what I did

with my Ultramarines.

Here's the pics:

Damn. I keep running out of likes lately...I love the colour you've gone for.

Thanks IronDrake28!

I know what you mean, there's a tonne of cool stuff on these boards!

Where did this Heresy spring up from!?

Love it

I've been promising myself a new force for a while now and after looking

at all the Primarchs I decided Horus looked the coolest!

Looking good :-) will be nice to have a traitor team in the mix. Its just two loyalists and a dirty sessesionist (curses those empire grabbing ultras!) ;-)

Lol! Cheers mate!

Can't wait to get these going.

Nice use of parts there Jud thumbsup.gif. What colours did you use for the armour? I tried using the GW green but my model ended up looking like an Avocado with arms sad.png, yours looks great.

Nemac

Thanks very much Nemac.

For the armour I started with Incubi Darkness, followed by an Incubi Darkness with Kabalite Green (50/50mix)

followed by pure Kalabite Green, then a line highlight of Sybarite Green, finished off with a spot highlight of

Gauss Blaster Green.

Just have to wait for my orders from FW and Darksphere now!

Been a busy couple of days, got 2 more Veterans done.
I'm aiming to make these look a lot darker and grittier than my Ultramarines as is fitting for the Sons of Horus.

Next up is my Praetor.

Looking great Jud, I really like the use of the chaos shoulder guards smile.png

Nemac

Glad you like them Nemac, trying to get across the transition between Heresy era to Chaos

Good to see you joining the ranks of the XVIth

It's good to be doing something new and treacherous!

I really like your color scheme and the brass trim. Look great m8 !

You'll enjoy playing Horus.

Thanks Black Orange! I'm trying to make them look dark and gritty.

Yeah, are you planning on running the Primarch? Deepstriking him into battle alongside Justaerins is fun for you and terrifying for your opponent :-D

Oh yes! For me the Age of Darkness is all about the Primarchs!

After a lot of deliberation Horus was the model I liked the best,

so here we are!

Also I wanted to have a totally different play style to my mechanised

Ultramarines so I'm going for Drop pods and deep striking stuff.

No tanks just troops, dreadnoughts and fliers!

Thanks man, cracked me up!

Thanks betrayer41.

Been working on these for a week or 2 now.

All I have thus far are 20 Vets and a Praetor,

if I have enough bitz I want to make a master of

signals too.

I've got the Praetor built, just have to paint the

bugger now!

It took me ages to decide on which Legion(s) to do.

I would suggest looking at the FW site and see which models

and colours interest you the most.

I've raided my bitz box and come up with the Praetor below!

He's intended on leading a 15 man strong Reaver squad,

so I wanted him to have a jump pack, I used the Gargoyle heads

(Christ knows where I got them from!!) to form the jump pack,

not sure it works but it's done now!

While I love your models and painting, I think that backpack is a little too big for even a jump pack. That central dragon is massive.

I wasn't overly sure of it myself but, it's done now!

Looking good. Should make for an interesting opponent!

Cheers mate! Though the force is a long way off.

There's still plenty I want to achieve with my forces of Ultramar project.

Love it.

Really creative with the pack!

Charlo, I'm not completely sold on it but thank you.

Next up will be a master of signals.

A question for those in the know:

Is the Black Reaving rite of war any good?

I'd like to take Reavers as troops so this seems pretty cool.
