darkseren1ty
Hi guys, I don't usually frequent this part of the forum, being a 40k player predominantly, but I've recently started collecting WB in my quest to find a more balanced tabletop strategy game. I've purchased and painted some of my models and the rest are currently partially/fully assembled and awaiting me to have free time to paint them. Anyway, I make this thread to serve a dual purpose: Firstly, to showcase my army. I've been struggling with the color schemes of the Word Bearers and decided to incorporate all 3 schemes of the WB in the same army, that is granite grey (of lies), the red and black of the heresy and the maroon and silver of post heresy. I've decided to paint separate units in each of these schemes, but I am struggling for a unifying point to draw all these schemes together. Possibly the legion symbol, but I need something more. The second reason for this thread is to obtain advice on how to build a heresy army. I'm a bit confused with the rites of war and so on. The only one I know for WB is the dark brethren, but apparently there are many more to pick from. Now for the units that I currently own: A squad of 5 Gal Vorbak Lorgar Aurelian Betrayal at Calth Box set contents And about 10000+ points of Slaanesh, Tzeentch and Khorne Daemons What should be my next purchase to make a thematic WB army? I'm trying to play thematically so I'm avoiding the super heavy tanks and so on. Also, here's a few pics of my units that are still a WIP. you've probably seen them up in other parts of the forum, but I'm going to use this thread to tie them altogether. These are all still WIP, I'm forever adding on more details on to these guys, FW really goes to town with the level of details. Jimm
Good to see a fellow wb player posting. Really nice work, partially like lorgars head and your flame work/lighting. Good job :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326818-darkseren1tys-word-bearers/#findComment-4531056 Share on other sites

Brother Pheidias
Very nice work there.Gal Vorbak are nice and dark, and Lorgar's very well done, if a tad paler than I would imagine him :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326818-darkseren1tys-word-bearers/#findComment-4531690 Share on other sites
darkseren1ty
Very nice work there. Gal Vorbak are nice and dark, and Lorgar's very well done, if a tad paler than I would imagine him :) Thanks guys Hanna yeah. Believe it or not, I based his head with warplock bronze and mixed it with skin tones and worked my way up. It is a bit pale though, so I started painting golden script across his head and face. It's very subtle though, you can only see the script at certain angles. But that's not shown in this pic. Will upload a newer one once I have another unit to show you as well. Anyway, back choice of new unit. What do you experts reckon I should purchase next? Ashen circle? The possessed contemptor? A tank? Jimm
Layak and his blade slaves are a safe bet, the base of most people's lists and wb best hq in both looks and rules in my opinion. Seeing as you've nailed your gal vorbak painting he would be a good option and it stays true to the daemon based theme Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326818-darkseren1tys-word-bearers/#findComment-4532219 Share on other sites
