Thanks guys smile.png

@Zeller - yes the smoky effect on armour is the result of both highliting and shading. As I mentioned earlier I use andrea black paint set to paint black. Andrea paints are very mat and this also increase the "smoky" effect. When you mix the colours the way they show in the attached leaflet you will receive very subtle transitions between shading and highlights - I really recommend this set !

My blood drops are really simple - I repeat the process not only on blood drops but I use it on eve lenses, visors etc.

1. cover blood drop entirely with abaddon black

2. paint wazdakka red on 3/4 of the drop

3. paint wazdakka/evil sunz scarlet (50/50) on half of the drop

4. paint evil sunz scarlet on 1/4 of the blood drop

5. paint wild raider red on 1/8 of the blood drop

6. paint wild raider red/yriel yellow (50/50) on approx. 1/12 of the drop

7. paint a subtle white scar line at the very bottom and add a tiny white dot at the top of the drop

it's not difficult but is time consuming msn-wink.gif

The new technical paints are really good for gems as well. Paint gem black, colour lower right half in the new silver, Stormhost Silver, paint entire gem with Spiritstone Red technical paint. If you went too light on the Spiritstone, do another coat. Or just do what I've started doing, paint the whole gem with Stormhost Silver, then paint the whole gem with Spiritstone Red and call it done. Still looks quite good without having to do 9 different layers and then a wash.

Ahhh Brother Bobz I missed you too smile.png Unfortunately my old Dark Angels thread was somehow removed as I cannot find it in the annals of BoC sad.png

Meanwhile I finished DC Chap (love the sculpt!) and decided to change my background for pictures. I think darker works better !

My army so far:

Now I am a little bit undecided what to do next - more DC marines or Sanguinor (still have metal one) / Sanguinary Guard - what do you guys think ?

Great looking Chaplain! And agree on the darker background, similar to what I use.

As for what next, will this be a force for gaming or just a painting project? I like Sanguinary Guard a lot (from both points of view!)

I am a painter only so this force is purely for display smile.png I used to play 40k a lot in the past but now I only paint and read the fluff smile.png

some additional angles of my chaplain:

I just cannot seem to decide if I'm inspired or jealous when I see this level of painting skill displayed ... It is indeed gorgeous wub.png

As for the "what next" question I'd say a touch of gold is needed in this army msn-wink.gif

I am in awe of your abilities, bevulf! Your models are gorgeous, and an inspiration. wub.png

In my opinion, since you're doing this as a display, I would say go with some Sanguinary Guard. And possibly add a Sanguinary Priest as well, since you've already got a Librarian and a Chaplain. But whatever you end up deciding on, I can't wait to see it!

Edit: Try this link mate, you got archived on the Rock tongue.pnghttp://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177316-dark-angels-strikeforce/?do=findComment&comment=2096196

Alas the older images are no longer showing but the more recent ones are lurvely! Can the thread be re-opened so we can gush over it?

Also, Bevulf, did you use Andrea colours for the Dark Angels too?

Ahh Brother Bobz thank you so much - I thought that it was truly lost. I do not have enough time to venture through all of the B&C and there is soooo much cool stuff here !

If I decide on painting more DA then I will definietely ask for reopening or start a new one :D

LutherMax - I discovered the andrea paints 2 years ago and didn't use them on my DA. I used to mix black with grey colours back then. It was difficult to obtain the same shades each time I painted ravenwing bikers so it was a little bit frustrating. With andrea paints it's much easier to repeat the black colour scheme. Try them out  - i am sure that you'll love the colours  !
