Tallarn Tourney Report: Seattle, October 2016

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Last weekend I played in a five game 1,000 point tournament (Puget Sound Slaughter) at Card Kingdom in Seattle, WA.  Four of the five mission were various maelstrom missions.  It was a fun time and a very well run tournament.   I actually managed to win some of my games (a rarity for me in 7th).  I think the low points mighty have favored my hordish army:

My 1,000 points of Tallarn 23rd consisted of:

-Cpt. Scheherezade’s command squad w lascannon and vox in a chimera:  did a great job of kicking out orders

-5 ratlings:  this squad often infiltrated onto objectives and ended up earning me quite a few points

-35 trooper platoon with autocannons, meltaguns, and meltabombs (Commissar Kadabra attached):  excelled at board control, tarpitting, and vehicle destruction.

-30 trooper conscript platoon (Priestess Badra attached):  excelled at board control and tarpitting

-Desert Rats vet squad w/ lascannon and snipers: Didn't do too much for me

-Hellhound:  Wow—this sucker is golden in low points maelstrom missions.

-Executioner:  reliably killed heavy infantry

-Game 45:  October 22, 2016 Tournament at Ballard’s Card Kingdom vs SM (Win)

I enjoyed this game against Dave’s vanilla marines.  He had a good list and solid tactics, but I managed to get board control by pushing forward on the left with the conscript blob and on the right with the infantry platoon blob.

-Game 46:  Tournament at Ballard’s Card Kingdom vs Tau (Win)

I had a blast against Alex’s Tau.  My IG usually get tabled quickly by Tau, but Alex had more of a fun list.  This was a close one, but I managed to control the center.

My MVP:  my hellhound….killed off 3 Tau infantry units!

-Game 47:  Tournament at Ballard’s Card Kingdom vs SM (Win)

This was another fun game against a space marine army with the formation that allows assault squads to assault on the turn they arrive and it allows devs to shoot on the turn they arrive.  In the end, however, my opponent's elte, MSU list just couldn’t deal with the horde nature of my army.

My MVP:  executioner, for toasting a unit of centurions

-Game 48:  Tournament at Ballard’s Card Kingdom vs Genestealer Cult (Loss)

I really enjoyed this game against Howard’s genestealer cult.  This was my first game against the genestealer cult and I really like the list—it’s fluffy, effective, and I love the random charts!.  In the future I’ll have to be a bit less aggressive against these blokes…stay back a bit more.

MVP:  no one did very well—my conscripts were a bit killier than my other units though.

-Game 49:  Tournament at Ballard’s Card Kingdom vs SW (Loss)

This was a fun game at the tournament against my long-time friend Pete’s SW dread in pods army.  It wasn’t really very close.  He just waded in and crushed me.

My MVP:  the meltagunner in Lt. Rusdhie’s squad—his was my only kill of the game (a dread).

I had a great time and this tourney brings my 7th edition IG record to 37 losses and 12 wins.  I also managed to win a $75 door prize which I used on a maulerfiend for my Night Lords and an armored sentinel for my IG.  Woot!

Tallarn Commander,

IG, “We are many. They are few.”
