Canadian_F_H
Name needs work but I was wondering about an minor order of the inquisition that focuses entirely on investigating worlds who may be erroneously filing their imperial tithes. Planets under tithing, or sending substandard tithes (choosing the worst men or equipment for tithes regiments etc, or worse filli ng the ship with dead bodies and blame the voyage for thecl casualties and claim they had provided the tithe as required) Just a funny idea to me of imperial tax assessors. The homebrew subsector I'm tying my armies into was conquered during th e great crusade then lost contact wth because of the horus heresy. A zealous Ordo Ire-Est inquisitor, Lord Taximus Maximus discovered that worlds of the subsector were 10,000 yeas past due for their tithes, and called for a crusade to escort his team of assessors and forensic accountants to the system and excise the tithes plus interest. LORD Taximus Maximus feeling generous given that the subsector is under threat of simultaneous tyranic, and chaos incursion is willing to offer a one time only interest penalty of 15% per year the tithes were tardy. To be payed in full upon receipt of the invoice. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327404-ordo-ire-est-irs/ Share on other sites
Aias
I find this hilarious and can't wait to hear more. In the grim darkness of the far future, there are only accounting ledgers... Lysimachus
Funny idea, but also totally possible in the Imperium! Probably it'd be some sub-Ordo of the Ordo Scriptorum, who are responsible for keeping and finding any errors in Imperial records? Edit: Oh, and Taximus Maximus is a little on the nose for me, what about calling him Inquisitor Joh(a)n Koskinen? :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327404-ordo-ire-est-irs/#findComment-4549303 Share on other sites

Don't get your reference tho, sorry. Def a sub of o.scriptorum, Perhaps also o.munitorum. an o. responsible for monitoring the Adeptus munitorum. Taxus Maximus might be a better vessel name anyhow. I also need a twist on "taxation is theft" for their motto... lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327404-ordo-ire-est-irs/#findComment-4549447 Share on other sites
Jareddm
As a note, this kind of investigation is exactly the kind of thing the Adeptus Arbites deals with. Don't take away what little jurisdiction they have left. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327404-ordo-ire-est-irs/#findComment-4549582 Share on other sites

And the inquisition is always stepping on people's jurisdiction! I figured most of his retinue and inq storm troopers etc would be former or seconded arbites. Canadian_F_H
Thanks. So grim and dark it's funny. Excuse me you forgot to tithe your regiments to the imperial guard for 10k years that's 1 regiment a year at 10% compound interest, you owe us... (I literally cannot find an online calculator that will compound interest out 10,000 years, lol, so I'm going to make this one up) 379,492,361 regiments at 1000 men at arms each... when can we expect your tithe? Um... we only have 10 million people sire ... The emperor doesn't accept excuses! brettfp
There could be some fun modelling ideas here. A small beacon of lightheartedness in the grim darkness :) Reminds me of years ago i made a few models for a lawyer/accountant themed space marine army. They had black power armour with red ties. I vaguely remember one was studying a huge ream of paper and i think on one wielded a 'power' breifcase :D I'm just picturing Taximus as a Karamazov counts as but modeled as basically an office on dreadnought legs. Fancy desk with stacks of paper and ergonomic chair. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327404-ordo-ire-est-irs/#findComment-4618408 Share on other sites
jeffersonian000
The Roman Imperial tax collector was the Tractator. It was a hereditary position that could not be given away or ignored, because everyone hated the Tractator, even other Tractators. brettfp
So, I've been looking at a lot of Inq28 stuff recently and then this thread popped into my head and I had a flash of Inspiration... May I introduce... Hargreaves; Senior Assessor of the Ordo Ire-est and his companion, Junior Assessor Benson! http://i.imgur.com/OCRkjEb.jpg Benson can be seen pointing out a clerical discrepancy, with him is his bolt pistol, for when audits get a bit ugly. Hargreaves is showing what happens when they do get ugly, carrying his trusty copy of "Imperial Planetary Tithes: Regulations and Edicts Vol. IX" I just though they'd be a bit of fun! As much as I like grimdark I've always been a fan of silly things like this (Cosmic Space Knights, TSOALR, etc.) it was fun adding little bits of silly detail. Canadian_F_H I hope you don't mind, and I hope they live up to your vision Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327404-ordo-ire-est-irs/#findComment-4708659 Share on other sites
