Brotherhood of the Sundered Mountain - A White Scars Log

...Some amongst you may feel resentment at being assigned to my brotherhood. After all, which true son of Chogoris would rather spend time striking down a wall when they could be hunting on the Altak? To you, I pass on the same words that the Khagan passed to me. Our legion is like a fast flowing river; wild and untamed. We must be the rock that guides that torrent. That diverts its raging strength to where it is most needed. Ours is the duty of control and it is a duty I carry with joy in my hearts...

Hi all!

Ever since BaC was released, I have been struggling to narrow down my legion. That choice was made as soon as I finished reading Scars. The legion portrayed in that book really spoke to me and I just had to have a brotherhood of my own! However I wanted to focus not on speed, but on strength and so the Brotherhood of the Sundered Mountain was born!

This is one of the brotherhoods responsible for cracking open heavily defended walls and fortifications and for holding the breach whilst the rest of the legion pours through. As such, I'm going to be collecting two forces, one full of artillery and other city busting weaponry and an armoured spearhead to carry marines to the breach.

So without any further rambling. Here is the first eleven marines of my brotherhood:

This is my first time both painting white and weathering marines, so I'm bound to have made some mistakes! laugh.png

Up next on the painting table will be five cataphractii terminators (because they look amazing and I can't wait to get cracking on them!) So until then thanks for looking! cool.png

Looks good. Always love seeing some Scars.

Just as a suggestion though, right now your white is quite lacking in contrast: I would consider doing a darker shade in the recesses. Just an idea, but I'd be willing to bet that your models would look better for it.

nice mix'n'match of helmets and a great color scheme! The darker red is great for WS and the pale gold is beautiful. Is it a mix or a specifically produced color? maybe it is the light, but i do not remember if i had ever seen such a perfect gold for the white trim!

Also is the dark red probably Vallejo's Scar? And a last question on color: The off-white at the backpacks?

Cheers all! Sorry for the late reply, yesterday was manic!

@helterskelter: Ahaha! There's no aggro from our end - whether the stone feel the same is a different matter!

@b1soul: I like to think that there's a few mixed in there. I'm hoping to differentiate them from the chogorans by keeping there armour relatively trinket free. Possibly with the Roman five painted on every so often.

@Psycho: The colouring between the plates stands out a lot more IRL. As usual my photo fu is weak! But it's definitely something I'll experiment with on the next marine. B)

@Pheidias: We did! You helped me to figure out their name actually, so thanks! B)

@okonomiyakimarine: Cheers! The gold is GW Sycorax bronze, washed with agrax earth shade and layered up with a watered down 50/50 Sycorax/rune fang mix. The red is GW's Mephiston red, washed with agrax, layered Mephiston and highlighted with evil sun scarlet. The off white is just a 50/50 seraphim sepia/Lahmian medium wash over white. Nice and easy! B)

I'm cracking on with the termies. So far the white is finished. Now I just need to reblacken the trim, which takes forever!

Hey all! Long time no see. I hope everybody's well and things are good! cool.png

So after a little hobby break, I finally managed to get my termies done earlier this week! They're 99% finished as I'm just waiting on FW to produce a Scar's transfer sheet - so they'll be finished in about three years! laugh.png

After going a bit overboard with the weathering on my first marines, I tried to limit it to the armour edges this time around. Personally I'm much happier with the result.

I've also taken a better pic of the first ten tacticals:

Up next, I'm working on the second half of the tac squad and a stormseer conversion. I've also finally caved and picked up the burning of Prospero, so expect lots of Mk3 goodness soon! biggrin.png

Cheers!
