Update time

Not done anything to the first guy other than add a hazard stripe transfer which I will blend into the base and weather it to match. Still need to do a lot more to him yet.

I've started mapping out the first regular guy . This guy is in the more traditional yellow of the fists but I will be added various markings and things. The Castellan is wearing an ancient colour scheme given to veterans of the catastrophic War of the Howling Gyre during the Great Crusade.

I'm in the process of adding various little bits and pieces like the broken chest aquila fastening what will be a litany of faith to his shoulder pad and a wooden board which will have a parchment attached. I've also made a hole in the base which I will be adding a water effect to so it looks like an industrial overflow pipe. While I could go for the traditional red trim shoulder pads I am opting for the black out of personal preference.

The yellow colour scheme looks phenomenal! Really suits the mini.

Loving the castellan too! Very nice pose.

The traditional yellow guy looks as if he could just be a standard gw mini (except from the loving personalised additions) which just goes to show how seamless your true scale has become.

Amazing!

Thanks mate, appreciate the compliment. smile.png

Ok so the urge to return to 40k gaming itch has been nagging away at me for a long while. Back in the day I was a hard core gamer and over the last few years I've been contemplating it more and more, reading rules and thinking how I would approach new armies that are released from a table top point of view rather than just how I would convert the heck out of them.

The new Castellans of the Imperium formation really has gripped my attention, not from a power gaming point of view or anything sinister like that but because it actually lets you create a proper Imperial Crusade. For me this is great, I kind of find one army builds a bit on the restrictive side and there are plenty of times GW bring out a new model for another Imperial faction that I will think I wish I could justify buying that cool model...

Well now I can! smile.png

Castellans of the Imperium lets you combine select units from Imperial factions into one crusading army, basically you need 4 Troops choices, 2 HQ and the detachment must contain forces from two Imperial factions that are listed in the rules.

I'm toying around with setting these guys at roughly around the time of the Damocles Crusade with a mixed force of Templars, Astra Militarum, Inquisition, Assassins and Knights, etc.

I have a couple of Leman Russ tanks lying around that I bought for parts ages ago and figured why not use these as the Heavy Support aspect of my force. I have enough parts for a Vanquisher and a Demolisher so speedly put together the first of the tanks seen here.

I pondered how I could go about painting it, considered conversions, stuff I could do the model and so on. Then I thought sod it, if I sit around thinking about what I want to do and how I want to convert it I'm never going to have an army. I'm just going to go for bog standard table top no frills generic Cadian.

An afternoon of furious work later and hey presto one completed table top standard tank.

So taking a break before moving onto the Demolisher I took a look at what else I had lying around in my bits box. I love the whole Assassin thing, being a big fan of Vindicares in particular and wanted to include maybe one or two as plugins to the force. What I'd like to do is build a modular army consisting of units that I think are cool that I can throw in and take out for numerous builds.

This guy is a very simple conversion and is still WIP at the moment but I decided to bling him out a little rather than worry about the entire model being in tactical black and embraced the 40k vibe a little more.
