Death Korps Armoured Company WIP

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, long time lurker here! Figured that I may as well do a Post for my WIP since I might actually get some more creativity doing this.

So after taking a 3 year hiatus from the hobby I've come back with a distinct love of all things armoured. Because of this, what better army then Guard.

Heres some late WIP pictures of my Company Command Tank

Nothing I like more than desert drab Mars Alpha pattern russes. What's your technique? The washes/weathering looks great. Whats next?

Cheers! If I can be honest I actually stole the idea from the FW "How to use Weathering Paints", I just slightly modified it.

I painting the Tank Zandri Dust, then washed the recesses + rivets with Ajax Earthshade. Then I highlighted the tank Kazak Stone before extreme highlighting Terminatus Stone.

Now the cheating bit. I got the FW Dry Mud weathering paint ano applied it to rivets (beneath them so it gave the streaking look) as well as areas where mud would gather at the sides. Really easy but looks really good.

So a bit of a downer today while finishing off my Command Tank. I unfortunately gave the turret a bit of "authentic battle damage" after she fell off the table. No matter though as after a new lick of paint she was as good as new (for the guard).

Nevertheless I've pretty much finished the Company Command Tank and I'm starting on adding a little bit of mechanised PBI to the batch...

C+C welcome.

Looks great!

Have you thought of using Google photos to share you photos? A bit easier to view than google drive.

Thanks a lot!

No I haven't tbh. I recently got a new phone which is what I'm currently using to take pictures. Just figuring out what's best to use.

Even better if you use the BnCS to host your photos then they will be here as long as the BnCS is in existence...

Also there is nothing better than some great photos in the post rather than having to click on a link ;)

Great work though thumbsup.gif

I just tried the BnCS and unfortunately the files are too big. So I try Tinypic and as you can see it works, albeit the sideways images.

Perhaps I'm not paying due respect to the machine spirit...

The gallery here is quite generous, so it sounds like the files need reducing - that's always a good idea when uploading anyway so it doesn't beast anyone's connection :)

Yeah I've just resized them so that they now fit :)

On a more hobby based note I've ordered some resin bases for my grenadier to be on and I've also ordered a few more bits from FW so watch this space...

This reminds me of photos of WW2 Sherman Fireflies, whose crew often camouflage a portion of their 17-pounder guns so they wouldn't look longer than a standard Sherman's gun, as they didn't want enemy tankers and antitank gunners to recognize them as priority threats. Maybe you should reduce the amount of camouflage netting you put on the Command Tank, so the Vanquisher barrel will look as short as the standard battle cannon barrel.
