Anamnesis
Following the release of prospero and the mighty russ, i've finally take the plunge to try to build a horus heresy army since this has to be the most interesting setting in 40k (at least for me ) And since i've finally finished the first "proof of concept" here it is, i'll developp the army slowly cause i don't have much time to paint but i enjoy this ! (very much indeed) http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r630/Anamnesis_corp/Sw_mix_zps6oaakyro.jpg For thoses who want, i have a few pictures of the different wip on my Instagram feel free to lurk it down here What on the painting queue 9 mkIV marines, 10 mk3 marines, how i'm starting, Bjorn Geigor fell hand, leman russ but this one will wait a bit 5 tartaros which i'm not sure what to do yet! What i really want to include, sicaran and leviathan dread, also a fireraptor Just a little warning i'm slow as a snail painter so i won't be one the lucky one to post update everyday, but i hoping you can find some cool stuff in here though also please note i'm usually pretty s***y with conversion but since this project is to be something special i wanted to do for year, i may try some more this time Anyway enjoy the pic ! Anamnesis
Ahem thanks brother Kage, it is indeed the VI my bad it's corrected now As for the marble: Base scalecolor Nacar Vein with vallejo dark sea blue quite diluted glaze a bit on the corner you want lighter with nacar, then nacar plus white Shade with a bit of army painter strong tone, and strong tone with dark see blue for the deepest shadow You need to be quite light otherwise you'll lose the transparency effect Thanks for checking! One-eye
Incredible Space Wolves. I don't like most of the SW schemes, mainly because GW colors are too blueish, but yours are awesome ! Anamnesis
@ Grieux It's litteraly verdigris in a pot , the technical paint from Vallejo which it's mostly the same as nihilake oxyde from citadel (normaly). It has a nice chalky effect to it perfect for this. To have a bit more contrast with the gold i add a bit of vallejo emerald green to make it pop more. Glad to see you there, i've been following your thread with great interest Also a bit latter than expected, since sunday was quite busy but i managed to do a few thing, so without further ado here are the pics! First base in the making for geigor and squad sergeant, really like doing those, there quite fun http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r630/Anamnesis_corp/IMG-20161201-WA0003_zpsuk71eiqb.jpeg Next geigor which will probably be next in line not sure if i'll glue some more bits or no, no even sure if i should glue the torso to the leg. Also still debating if i should trim his hair or not http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r630/Anamnesis_corp/IMG-20161202-WA0000_zpsuxr68sgk.jpeg And finally the progress on the mk3 test marine, so many rivets! http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r630/Anamnesis_corp/20161204_232340_zpsyge7jxhc.jpg Here it is, hope you enjoy Cheers, Anamnesis Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328356-foray-into-the-vlka-fenryka-prospero-base-tuto-p2/#findComment-4583184 Share on other sites
WhatTheBlazes
Cor, that looks lovely but I bet it took flipping ages. Jackalwolf
Thanks mate! Your blending is sublime. It is done by brush, right? Absolutely stunning. Â And I would definitely swap the head of Geigor, it just looks too 40k in my opinion. The upgrade sprue of GW has a head that is a bit less wolfy but still has the hair motion on the same direction as Geigor. Anamnesis
Thanks for the comments guys, everything is done by brush yes, i'm not a fan of the airbrush execpt for basecoat I take a bit of time yes not ages though :) i enjoy doing it and i've found when i'm doing speedpainting i get bored pretty quickly, i kinda need doing an army that i like to look at Not everything is perfect far from it but those are still game pieces :) I'm planning a lot of time on russ though! Â Quick general question, do you guys varnish your pieces? The Pounder
I'm not surprised they take ages they are phenominal!! Some of the best Wolf forces around and there are some real talents on this forum. Jackalwolf
Yes mate, I don't actually game but I always apply first Gloss varnish, then do decals and weathering if needed, then purity seal or dullcote. Â Despite not playing it gives me peace of mind to know the paintjob will last! Anamnesis
Thanks for the kinds comments guys. Being down with the sickness (#disturbed)* and work mean little to no progress on the little fellow. Still managed to do the eyes and theirs glows (which is a bit lighter than the previous one ) and to start the brass, do you think there is too much of it btw? I also corrected the strang highlight i did on the top part of the helmet which didn't really worked. I've alos realised i painted one of the kneepad and wanted to paint black i'll have to change that. Little progress pic http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r630/Anamnesis_corp/20161207_231132_zpsdqy1cmrk.jpg I have to say i wasn't to convince on the mk3 armor, but the little guy totally changed my mind, there are totally awesome! It's gonna be hard to choose between mk3 and mk4. Cheers! P.S. As i said in the disclaimer, i'm really slow what you see since last update is mostly 1h-1h30 of work, quite a busy week *I have to apologies to whoever is following me on instagram since i did the exact same joke Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328356-foray-into-the-vlka-fenryka-prospero-base-tuto-p2/#findComment-4586256 Share on other sites
Jackalwolf
Nope, I think that's a really great balance. I'm not going to do rivets of line troops in brass either. Which colour you use? Anamnesis
Nope, I think that's a really great balance. I'm not going to do rivets of line troops in brass either. Which colour you use? I just the grey used on the armor push to a single white spot at the end, lazy way but you cant really see the difference with a metalic rivet. Following your advice on another post, i've also listen to Wolves at the door yesterday, quite a nice piece and quite inspiring Looks great, the grey is almost metallic in effect Thanks, i was going for have a certain shine but not up to nmm Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328356-foray-into-the-vlka-fenryka-prospero-base-tuto-p2/#findComment-4587683 Share on other sites
Jackalwolf
Oh I'm so glad you listened that! It's maybe my favorite depiction of how the Wolves will do anything but not necessarily enjoy it. I love when Bulveye comments it's crazy to go punish Prospero. Â And which is the base color for your bronzes? GW? Vallejo? Anamnesis
It was really cool, i'm usually not a fan of audio but it changed my mind on the subject :) really like bulveye i need to do a mini of him at some point B) Also for the bronze the base color is decayed gold from scalecolor, which are for me the best metalics with the finest pigments on the market and i've tried almost all of them ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328356-foray-into-the-vlka-fenryka-prospero-base-tuto-p2/#findComment-4587918 Share on other sites

PeteySödes
Flippin' great, I love these. As for your technique on the metals, it looks like you just blend up rather than any washing, is that the case? Full disclosure you inspired me to pick up a set of the scale color metallics and totally derailed my project as I wait for a package from Spain.
