Vairocanum
Wow what a great conversion! Certainly does look like a renegade rather than just a normal EC, fantastic use of bits! Sandlemad
Look great. It's amazing that no one has though to do vapourwave-influenced Slaanesh paintjobs before. Draakur
No end of inspiration here, really outstanding stuff, especially the Termies (and the writing in general). Dagoth Ur
Hey folks, long time no see! @marcusc: Cheers man, means a lot! @Vairocanum: Glad you like him bro, certainly was a labour of love! @Sandlemad: Cheers mate! That's what I've been thinking; synthwave, darkwave and vaporwave seem like the perfect grounds for some new and fresh slaaneshii ideas. @ToyShip: Should be done sometime in summer! @DeathbyWes: Cheers man, glad you like the content! @Draakur: Thanks a lot man, the termies were a joy to convert! I should have them all finished pretty soon. @Tyrannicide: Thanks mate, means a lot comming from you! The backpack conversion was a pretty quick and easy job Due to a lot of stuff going on at university I haven't been able to paint as much as I would've liked to. I had also lost much of my motivation to paint CSM, especially Nurgle, a while ago because I just wasn't satisfied with my paintjob. Today, I sat down and really went in on a Plague Marine and tried to translate what I had in my head on to a miniature. The miniature is a bit darker now, has more oil leaks, bruised battleplate and is just nastier in general. I really am not a fan of green death guard, so I stuck with off-white and olive-dingy shoulders. The miniature is nearly done and only needs varnish, base and a couple of smaller things done before I call it a day. Also a big plus point is that most of the painting was actually done via washes! Anyways, that's all for today. I hope you liked the small update; more will follow after exam season. C&C is, as always, much welcome and appreciated! Dagoth Ur
Rotten Paths Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge, Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs, And towards our distant rest began to trudge. Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots, But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots Of gas-shells dropping softly behind. Gas! GAS! Quick, boys!—An ecstasy of fumbling Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time, But someone still was yelling out and stumbling And flound’ring like a man in fire or lime.— Dim through the misty panes and thick green light, As under a green sea, I saw him drowning. In all my dreams before my helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace Behind the wagon that we flung him in, And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,— My friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori. -Wilfryd Ow'n, ca. m2- ------------------- Hey everyone, just a quick update before I get back to learning @Vairocanum: Cheers man! I'll take all the luck I can get! :D As you can see, today is only a meager Plague Marine, but I have come to enjoy building rank and file infantry a lot for my Plague Marines. While the regular kit is a bit restrictive, if you use the plastic mark 3 kit and the FW weapon arms, you get by pretty well actually! Anyways, that is all for today, thanks for looking! Pearson73
Looking good, I certainly agree that there can be a considerable amount of satisfaction to be found in building the humble rank and file. The open hand looks good, I always find they make a refreshing change to models of warriors monsters whom we normally see weilding blades or firing their weapons. Very apt choice of poem, to start I was struck by the fluidity of your prose and then a hint of recognition fired off by the second stanza, pleased to say I had recalled it before the tell tale last line. hushrong
That is a fitting poem. The plague marine looks great! I like the changes to the model and with the right bits and properly applied degradation you can keep churning out unique infantry. Vairocanum
Nice read as usual! Dagoth Ur
Dirt and Mud March on, march on Men of iron and flesh March on, march on Ferrymen of death March on, march on To the auric walls March on, march on Against the imperial gate March on, march on To tear down the tyrant -Warchant of the 6th Plague Company, the Ferrymen- ---Pic-Capture 00231-22: Legionary Kantron, 6th Grandcompany, XIVth Legion--- ---Observe: Defaced Principio Bellicosa tactical markings on left shoulder--- The rupture in the lower area of the helmet and blood trail on chest armour indicates heavy physical trauma inflicted by bolt weaponry at middle range. Clotting and discolouring of the blood indicate advanced healing. ---Pic-Capture 00231-23: Legionary Kantron, 6th Grandcompany, XIVth Legion--- ---Observe: Abdominal maw mutation; functionality unclear, tongue moving--- Kantron's battleplate, as with many of his comrades, exhibits heavy secretion of toxic waste and bodily fluids, indicating a melding of armour and body. It is not unknown for Death Guard Astartes to regrow lost battleplate. ---Pic-Capture 00231-24: Legionary Kantron, 6th Grandcompany, XIVth Legion--- ---Observe: Defaced legion iconography; the star-ringed skull--- Death Guard weaponry has been observed to change materiality after Warp exposure. Rubberized grips become cloth, steel-casing turns to rotting wood and hard-alloy transforms into lead and rusted iron. None of this seems to impede functionality or efficiency. ---Pic-Capture 00231-25: Legionary Kantron, 6th Grandcompany, XIVth Legion--- ---Observe: Anvillus-pattern power-pack; Xana II manufacture--- The Death Guard, chief amongst the traitors, has been known to utilize dangerous technology, such as the anvillus-pattern equipment that is known for radiocative off-bleed. This seems not to be in disfavour to the legion, quite the contrary. --------------------- Hey folks, exams are finally over so I had some more time to paint! Nearly finished my first ETL vow, but I needed a quick palette cleanser before I prepare for more mechanicum. So have a plague marine! @Pearson73: Cheers man, glad you like the posing and the fist! There is so much mobility to be imparted on rank and file soldiers. While I pride myself in my writing, I certainly can't reach to this standard of writing! :D @hushrong: Thanks man! Yeah I think the plague marine kit has a lot of potential for amazing miniatures, and it is nice to see that some people dabble into it. @Vairocanum: Thanks a lot bro! I'll keep your suggestions for damage on the powerpack in mind for my next squad of plague marines (Got a kit and some DG upgrade heads on the way...) Anyways, that is all for today! In terms of DG, I am working away on a couple of PM and blightlord terminators, so there will be more updates soon. Hope you like the plague marrine! C&C is, as always, much appreciated. Pandoras Bitz Box
These guys a very cool. I collect Thousand Sons and my friend collects Deathguard so I'm really enjoying those models you've produced. The painting awesome too, I love how gritty the feel of the Deathguard is, and that Leviathan is badass. Very cool. Markus_
You've done a great job with the new Death Guard kits, they look like brooding emissaries of violence rather than the bright candy look they're sold as. Draakur
Really enjoying your take on the Death Guard. I think I read you describing your attempted feel to be one of “menace and horror” - in my opinion you’re achieving this brilliantly :) Dagoth Ur 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328458-the-observers-chaos-stuff-slaaneshi-pirate-lord/page/4/#findComment-5101256 Share on other sites
The Nephilim
So I was just trolling through here thinking, "Man, these kitbashes and conversions are really, really good. It's a shame it's all TS and DG." And then BOOM! :cussing magic. Way to get a good rogue trader feel with that Slaaneshi renegade. Dagoth Ur
When the Eye opens We are returned ------------------- Finally back with something painted! Expect a lot more Black Legion stuff in the near future ;) @Pandoras Bitz Box: Thanks a lot mate! @Pearson73: Thanks man! Been a while that exams finished and now they are almost here again... @Markus_: Cheers! Yeah I always scratch my head when I look at GW's promotional pictures of the Death Guard. @Hushrong: Thanks man! There'll be some more Deathguard in the future, I want to do a basic killteam. @Draakur: Thanks a lot man! Yeah, I feel that of all the chaos legions, the Death Guard have a very specific brand of horror to them. Brooding, dark, grim, and yet all encompassing in their virulence. @The Nephilim: Don't blame me for the lack of Slaaneshi stuff, blame GW! :p The moment new cult marines arrive, expect to see them in black and gold though. Anyways, that is all for today folks! Hope you like the Black Legionary! C&C is as always much appreciated.
