Cadia Falls...

Recommended Posts

So it looks like Cadia will be lost to the Archenemy in just a couple weeks.  Hopefully, we’ll get some good Guard formations out of the deal.

Any other predictions or thoughts?  Cadians are the iconic Guardsmen, but the loss of a single world, even one like Cadia, shouldn’t mean much for the AM as a faction.  My prediction: if the planet is completely taken Creed will be killed in the final stages.

Oh and WarriorFish…remember how I said in the C:IA thread that I emit a faction-killing field?  Well, I started gluing Cadians together and one month later the foundation of the IG design (that has stood for 30 years of gaming) is lost to Abbadon.  I wasn’t kidding.  It’s real.

Oh well I'm not concerned about my Cadian forces. They can either retreat to terra and escape cadia or join the chaos forces. Depends how heretic I'm feeling ;)

Edit: orrrrrr cadia gets transported via the web way (which we think is involved in the campaign) to safety moments before being destroyed

Cadia has more regiments spread throughout the galaxy than any other world in the Imperium. Even if the planet explodes, Cadians will remain a totally viable army to play.

Besides, "Vengeance for a Lost Homeworld" is a pretty cool motivation. Ask the Thousand Sons.

Inquisitor makes a pet project of using cloned/frozen embryos to grow and train from birth an entire regiment of guardsmen for his own personal use.  Selecting an out of the way water planet, he uses computerized simulations and grav fields to create hordes of highly trained soldiers.  Being a realistic sort he goes for patterns of war gear proven by time, and some of the best stock of humanity he can find.

And thus were regiments of cloned Cadian troopers grown on the water world of Kamino for use against the coming Black Crusade in service of the Empire Imperium.

Now for my next trick...

Fear not Ed, even GW knows better than to incur the wrath of the commissariat msn-wink.gif Cadia may fall, but the regiments of Cadia will fight on. After all, taking a man from Cadia doesn't stop him being Cadian!

I am cautiously optimistic about this, as it will offer something for everyone in my gaming circle (well, mostly). I'm hoping we get some decent formation stuff, enough to tide us over for a new codex which must surely be next year also.

Speculation hat on - could this be the time for the much wished for new Cadian infantry sprue?...

On the topic, I think that the Cadia Falls... is not too much of a worry. Maybe Cadia will fall depending on a future world campaign or the end of the statement is missing such as "Cadia Falls....Not" ;)

I believe that Cadia will still be there, bruised and bloody but still defiant. Th even be called back to assist with the defence of Cadia.

This member of the Commissariat will not be found wanting!

I've almost completed my second 35-man Cadian infantry platoon. Having assembled and painted what is essentially the same model 70 times (and ordered a forge world back-pack for every single one of them) I honest to God hope the guard get through these upcoming changes unscathed.

"Cadia who? Shut up and buy some loyalist Space Marines already. Oh, you mean those Astra Militarum models? Yeah, they're not a real army. They're for allying with your Space Marines silly. "

Yeah, I'm seriously concerned the Imperial Guard are going to be relegated to the role of Dwarfs in the End Times in that they're just sort of... there, serving as the third wheel to the big players (Empire and the Elves), because they know a few people play with them. Creed and Co. will get some stupid, humiliating death halfway through the book to show how 'ard the threat is and to give the Space Marines motivation to save the day.

I don't think they'll Squat the Cadian line, but I don't think they'll do anything with it either.

Cadians look boring anyway msn-wink.gif

They do, but that's kinda the point, right? They're the standard template for non-specific imperial guard.

Yeah, but the reason I don't want to buy the SC:AM box despite the good price and wanting the LR is because it has Cadians tongue.png I only have Vostroyans, Steel Legions and now Scions as far as infantry go. Planning on giving the Scions suitable colors to go with either being SL or Vostroyan, too.

Well... boring to you... but if I could I would multiply my 100 cadians 10 fold TODAY!

Some folks are so jaded with 40k now tho.. 7 foot tall genetically engineered super soldiers in inch thick cybernetic warplate with explosive tipped .75 caliber guns fighting their daemonically possessed 10k year old brothers on worlds 1000k lightyears from their feudal homeworld just aren't good enough for kids these days...

Despite the name Cadia might not fall. They cant exactly use the 13th Black crusade as a campaign name again now. I am looking forwards to what this book brings but don't think too much will be chaged. Any way my regiments will be on route to defend their home world and many allies will follow.
