Betrayal at Calth and Some Questions.

Hello all! I've received a Betrayal at Calth box for Christmas, and have decided to paint them as Ultramarines and Word Bearers, and I'm going to order a box of MkIV tacticals to spllit 5/5 for use as painting practice and extra bits. 

 

I have a few questions that I'd like to know the answers to. The booklet that comes with the box doesn't really say too much regarding the specific chapter Word Bearers chapter that was at Calth/the one included on the box's transfer sheet. What is their fluff, if they have any? 

 

To make the Word Bearer's section of the army a legal one, does anyone have any recommendations on how to make a Delegatus/Praetor out of the Tactical Marines and extra bits that I'll have leftover?

 

What are the specific legion markings for each legion, if those can be posted here? Like sergeant and veteran helmets and such? I expect the Ultramarines to have markings and things for them, but I'm not sure about the Word Bearers. I don't have any of the books except the two needed for making a HH army, unfortunately. I suppose I could look around online for some pictures of them, but I thought I should ask here first.

 

Also, should I paint the eyepieces of the Word Bearers blue or green? The Forge World example on their upgrade kit looks really nice, but I also like the standard green eyes. I've also heard that they've had their eyepieces described as blue in some books, but I'm not sure.

The transfers show the design for the chapter of the twisting rune. this chapter was specifically created for the attack at calth iirc. apparently marines from various chapters were reassigned to form the chapter and it was destroyed in the underground battles following the destruction of calth's sun.

 

regarding praetor or centurion from regular parts i think that idea is a bit meh. praetor comes with artificer armor iirc and could be in terminator armour. more or less any weapon loudout would be legal... just check the books or look for what other people build. there is a thread for BaC conversions and i am sure you can copy some ideas there. or check how forge world fits out their praetor models? easy way: why not get some chaos 40k bits to build a non-terminator praetor?

 

also i would like to advice to do WB or UM. You can still play the game without any problems because of the tactical point markers and you get a headstart for your HH army.

Oh, that's interesting! Hmmm... may or may not appropriate that chapter symbol for my own dudes. Or I could just theme them as being on Calth.

 

You have a point regarding the Praetor/Centurion thing. I was just being lazy and tired since I wrote that at midnight.

 

Nah, it's cool, I'm mostly going to use the two WB for my KdK army, and build up a HH army as well. That, and I'm not actually going to be the one painting the Ultramarines, since my younger sister said she wanted to, so I thought I'd let her.
