Awesome stuff, not really my style, but that sculpt is outstanding! The wings are quite small, but I guess that was intended? Like if he was ridiculosly big to fly with such small wings but still could because "Nurgle".

That daemon prince is excellent :D you should be proud of those details. I love that face is gross but still kinda goofy like actual nurgle models (especially the older ones)

Oh man that DP is phenomenal! Definitely worth the wait to see it completed, love all the textures you given the skin. The rotting head and nurgling swinging from the intestines also look great! The wings do look a bit small, maybe adding another pair to have quad wings could look less noticeable. Either way amazing job, can't wait to see him painted up!

@brettfp: thanks mate! i tried to get some oldschool vibes, like the face and some of the demonic faces popping on his armour, i'll post better close ups later, his shinguard has a face i tried to get to get as oldschool as possible

@the traitor, vairocanum: actually, i wanted his wings to be awkward (i have the smaller pair of wings from the nurgle drone thing and i tested an extended version of the wings with blutac) i tried 4 wings, longer wings but he seemed too... efficient. I actually wanted him flying around like those fat flies ya know, the ones that don't fly in a straight line, they hobble and zig zag across the skies   . + he has 4 auxiiary turbines on his back that help keep hikm in the sky -more pics soon!

So, as a follow up, here are a few pics of my completed warpsmith! (dunno if i posted pics before photobucket died)
I tried to keep him less mutated and nasty, cuz after all, he's a warpsmith in charge of friggin upkeeping the legion armoury, but he still has some minor chaosness, and lots and lots of rust.

hey there, long time no see!
lately, ive been holding on to my 2 boxes of dark imperium before assembly and focusing more on playing the game, but with the recent previews from miniwargaming, now i can unleash the full power of nurgle!

 

And man, i am loving what i'm seeing in the new codex!

I never went for the nurgle biker + mark of nurgle toughness shenanigans before, cause i built my army on fluff: a core of tough infantry - 30 deathguard infantrymen footslogging to victory with support from havocs and oblits walking and being unbreakable, i actually laughed when the miniwargaming guys complained that their unfluffy nurgle bikers got excluded from the army  they can still use them as regular chaos anyway, but i feel vindicated that my fluffy army endures

 

Time to make characters! 

 

I tried to make this guy into a cthulhu kind of guy, with tentacles to hide his fugly face (not in the cool kinda ugly) and some better posing. I chopped off the fart cloud and added a magic tome, switched the backpack and added a better looking cowl, without the hanging earing bits (dammit i hate that) . Oh, and i extended that short little baton GW dared call a staff. Extended it with sprue and gotit looking like a propper caster.
i think i might even paint his cowl yellow (if it doesnt work out it will be the regular purplish red) to go for a yellow king vibe.

 

 

 

This other guy is just a simple lord of contagion, but i will proxy him as typhus for a while. i turned his axe into a manraper scythe, did some minor changes to some details, a simple head swap and added some chaos lord bits and greenstuffed some rot into the cloak. This model doesn't need much work, it looks pretty good on its own :D

 

Started the bloat drones, magnetized the 2 that come with the dark imperium box, and i will rip off the front hood and sculpt my own, and use both hoods to make respectively: a defiler using the bloat drone face, and that little myfidic blighthawler (love the name). i think it looks like a little wolkswagen beetle from hell, he's cute and emits a fart cloud like a venomthrope in the same manner as a ork KFF,  and he has a melta and spits on people! i am gonna love to make this guy , he's so adowable 

Anyways, expect some conversions incoming in the near future!

The Blight Caster looks awesome, definitely better than the one on the box (I hate that model). Also the LoC is very cool, must agree with you that the model is already great without tweaking. Can't wait to see more!

I definitely prefer your plaguecaster to the stock model. (I also appreciated "obnoxious plaguecaster.")

 

The plaguemarines on bikes thing has always irritated me, so I'm also happy to see the end of it.

That plague caster looks amazing, really like your version with all the fuggly bits of the original purged. The lord of contagion is looking great too, I like the scythe remodel. Looking forward to seeing your defiler conversion!

also, WIP leviathan dreadnought. 

When i was planning this boy, i wanted to keep most of the armour lines and design of the original model that i find incredible. a thing i see many people do is buy a expensive FW model and cover him with greenstuff that kinda beats the point in owning a nice base model under the conversion. So i did nurglify him very much , but not to the point of messing totally with his silhouette, i wanted the leviathan chassi to bevery clearly indentifiable. His main armour planes will be visible - although busted up and full of warts and spikes breaking through the armour. the most deliberate elelment i changed were the backpack exaust pipes - there i went to town and added a maulerfiend exhaust to make him all spiky and chaosy.

I wont nurglify the big chest plates much, so his leviathan identity is still clear. maybe a few dent and some teeth for nurgle's sake.

In the end i want to paint him with original legion colour scheme -white and green, so as to indicate how venerable he is. It will be close to my all green modern 40k deathguard colour, but it will help to show how badass and ancient he is. especially with all the muck and nurgly grit.

As for fluff i thought i he could be powered by the soul of captain grulgor, dragged screaming from the warp and stuffed into the leviathan on his wasted corpse. (i hope he isnt already ressurected in some fluff that i dont know of)

Good work on the Leviathan, it's such a great kit to work with isn't it? Though a tad intimidating. Good on you for diving right into converting the beast. I'm working on a death Guard one myself, but went for a much less mutated route

@turbulence: thanks mate, it sure is! the pieces fit quite well and had great flexibility to pose more dynamicly. I wasn't gonna do too much but i got carried away a bit....

@vairocanum: its good to be back! i'm going to the same tournament from last year but now i gotta update all the new stuff from our updated codex, and i'll have the old prince fully painted in a bit

The Leviathan looks really impressive, one of the best nurglified versions I´ve ever seen! The foul blightspawn conversion also looks cool, that weapon looks way more appropriate for it´s game profile than the official version.

I can't believe you scratch built a daemon prince. But more than that you SUCCESSFULLY scratch built one. He is amazing. The builders butt is so nurgle!

 

The new Deathguard parts seems to have given you more ammo for your projects which is great.

 

The Leviathan is fantastic. I love the fact he looks like he is inside a giant mouth. The legion colours on the carapace really highlight those big teeth you've put on there. The chimney's are working great. He really looks like a FW kit for a Nurgle Leviathan. Brilliant!

Hello boys!
Looking at modeling oportunities, i've decided to update my list - i will be taking a supreme command nurgle demons! I wanted to sculpt a bunch of rotting nasties - but i dont want to get the hordes of run of the mill troops, or anything - i just want to focus on fancy sculpted characters of nurgle, so i will be going supreme command on this. 

 

I will be adding a poxbringer/herald, a great unclean one (sculpted with a hemmorhoid flail, vomiting translucent resin) and... well, i will be revamping my own version of Epidemius! i think epdemius is currently dated, so i will just go crazy on redesigning him. (also, i apllied for a job at the GW design studio, so theres that too)

without further blablabla - i present Epidemius on THE palanquin of nurgle

i hope i get the job  
if not, enjoy the ride, the great unclean one project is gonna be insane! i've already sculpted his base - (12cm wide but maybe i need it to be bigger cuz i plan to make him more dynamic than the current GUO)
