Wow! It's been a while since I checked in here but just wow! That freehand looks ace.

Thanks, I'm quite happy myself with how it is progressing (not the speed at which it is progressing though)!

Can't wait to see another knight from you! I mostly chose red and white to do something different from the Harvesters of Souls scheme, but I'm liking a lot how it looks so far.

Don't hold your breath I'm completely bogged down with stuff at the moment from house renovations, masters degree work and about half a dozen projects on the go I won't be starting anything else for a while especially if the kids wont go to sleep before 9.

The colour variation on that carapace is beautiful from the deep red to the lighter is looks like blood has washed over the pure white underneath with foul chaos symbols. I absolutely love it.

Totally get you there, I'm also crowded with things to do... And thanks for the compliment, actually it looks more orange-like in real life, but photos (or at least my photos) mess up badly with the red, so it looks plainer than what it actually is.

Yes indeedy, coming together nicely!

The gaping maw on the other shoulder is tricky, black could be fine, back throat should be better though....

Thanks! I'm going to do the throat freehand and I can always cover it in black if I don't like it...

Fantastic job! Can't wait to see what other patterns you paint for the rest of the knight. I think free handing the throat would look nice.

Thanks brother, the patterns are actually quite fun to paint once you get to it.

So, I got a bit sidetracked from this project but still I finished painting the tribal pattern of the remaining shoulder pad:

I need to get an Armageddon team for an upcoming campaign at my local store (you can check my WIP thread at my signature for photos), so progress will slow a bit, but I'm determined to finish this project!... eventually ;).

Great looking Knight! The freehand is coming along nicely

Sorry for the delay in my answer, but thank you!

Great work! I think this might be my favorite bit of freehand so far on the knight. Looking forward to seeing how the mouth and eyes turn out.

Thanks brother, I'm pretty happy with the mouth myself.

So, I must admit that I've been distracted a bit, first with SW:A and then with AoS, but I'm back to my knight! I won't be as fast as I would like, but being an IB student isn't leaving me a lot of spare time. However yesterday I managed to finish the shoulder pad and painted the main body in metallic:

med_gallery_92948_12966_144004.jpgmed_gallery_92948_12966_935772.jpg

Pretty proud of how it's looking, hope to make some substantial progress today, but won't promise anything!

That mouth looks phenomenal!, the paint job really emphasizes the daemonic feel! Also Egil Skallagrimsson looks amazing, excellent paint job as well! Looking forward to seeing more of the knight as well as your other projects!

That paint job is nuts! There is so much going on it's driving me crazy in a good way.

I...I know what it's like now to have the warp overtake me!

Thanks brother, hadn't thought it will have that maddening look at first, but he does drive you a little bit crazy if you stare at him too much :P...

Thanks! Also I'm glad you like my Kharadron Overlords, I have so many projects going on right now (and I must confess that I just started sculpting squigs for a Moonclan Grot army...) :(

That paint is insane in the best possible way. Can't wait to see it all together

Haha, thanks, it will take some time, but one day I'll finish him!

Wow! That is some awesome freehand work!

Thanks, the freehand is actually addictive, now when I'm bored in class I start drawing that pattern on a side of the notebook... So I can't stop seeing it while I study!

Hell!! He looks great. The freehand is phenomenal. If I ever make a knight, I will use this as an inspiration.

M

Thanks Mikhal, it would be great to see you build an IK, so much space to have GS fun on him ;)!

So yeah, I know, I got distracted again, but I will be painting the knight between personal projects, one day he'll be finished! But today I painted the faceplate:

med_gallery_92948_12966_77002.jpg

I know it doesn't look impressive, but actually painting the lights of the black took me a while...

Actually I'd argue that the face plate looks very impressive, the horns seriously look stellar! Good luck with your Moonclan Grot army, your sculpting is seriously looking more and more amazing so it's cool to see your different projects!

Hi guys, I know this thread has been dead for some time, but I've discovered that I don't like painting huge models too much :tongue.:. However I did make some progress on the night, now the exhaust pipes and the fire coming out of them are painted... But now that I have a more regular stream of commissions I though I could use this thread for the ones that are content appropriate (which sadly is just one, as the others I've done in this time are for AoS), specially now that xenos are allowed.

So I present you Kheradruakh the Decapitator, the Mandrake King!

med_gallery_92948_12966_326180.jpegmed_gallery_92948_12966_223486.jpegmed_gallery_92948_12966_83762.jpeg

I was thrilled when I was asked to make a "mandrake character", as I love the GW mandrake models and I inmediatly though about Kheradruakh, which was one of my favourite characters from the old DE Codex. I of course tried to copy as many elements as possible from his old artwork (shown below), but the customer was quite specific with the pose she wanted and, even though I would have never done it like this otherwise, I had to compel...

So, what do you think? Posing aside I'm happy with how the model has turned out, and I'm specially proud of having sculpted such a tiny face! For more pics you can check here.

Hi there! I just accepted a commission to build and paint in dark angel fashion 5 Intercessors, the captain in gravis armour, a lieutenant and 3 inceptors in exchange for all the Death Guard of the DI box! However it has been a while since I did loyalist for the last time, so we'll see how it goes. The customer was very friendly and gave me a large range of DA bits to use, so I've been able to convert them much more easily. I need to have the ten finished for this Saturday, so I'll have to do some speedpainting ;).

I started with the Intercessors to get a feel of the new primaris range... This guys are huge!

http://i.imgur.com/wJ2MnDl.jpg

I decided that I don't need to heavily convert them because a) they're loyalist and b) every conversion I make is extra work for me which won't get paid. So I need them to be cool enough for the customer to be happy, but not tooo much :P.

Next I have the Inceptors, which I obviously didn't glue to the base yet:

I had to do some carving for the Ravenwing heads to fit, but everything else's was pretty straight forward with this guys.

The lieutenant:

I'm not sure if I should add a tabard to this guy, he doesn't look quite right, maybe a banner on the backpack? Also I think that this sword is from the Champion of the Emperor, but I'm not sure... I'm pretty clueless in loyalist bits ;).

And at last, the captain:

http://i.imgur.com/AkBCCBj.jpg

I was planning to repose the hell out of him, as I really dislike the original pose, but I'm short on time and I wasn't expecting ALL of his body to be a single piece, so I tried to make him look like he's swinging his sword from below to at least try to give some reason to the weirdly twisted body.... It is not perfect but it'll do.

So what do you think of my Unforgiven? Any opinions and CC are welcome, I'll start painting them today, my idea is to go Caliban Green, Nuln Oil, Caliban Green highlights and then Warpstone Green or Ceramite White, maybe both as final lights,  I'll see when I arrive to that step!

First: I totally missed this thread of yours. Second: the Knight ist simply amazing! Third: I really like those DA Primaris. Makes me wanna start a DA force :)

The only thing I don't like is Cpt. Beergut. I simply can't justify what GWs design team thougt when they were making him. You tried to repose him, but it still looks off.

Yep, that's the champion's sword on your lieutenant. I've learnt to know and hate it over the years. Adding a tabard sounds good, because it would even out the imbalance caused by the winged helm.

Nice work with Kheradruakh btw. I don't think I've ever seen an actual mini of his in the wild.

I am totally, ahem, "borrowing" the idea of the old Emperor's Champion arm on the Lt.

First: I post much more on my other thread, as I like my army more :P, so this one is easy to miss. Second: thanks, one day I'll finish him I hope! Third: thank you but don't. You're a follower of Chaos and it should remain in that way! (Besides your TS conversions are so amazing, it would be a waste for you to build loyalists).

And yeah, I don't like the captain either, if I had had time I would have spent hours rebuilding him, however I didn't, so I spent a couple of minutes to change the arm to at least be able to look at him.

This is indeed the Sword of the Emperor's Champion.

Good. I'm sure you BT players will love to see how this member of the doubtly-loyalist chapter of the Dark Angels wields the sword of your so pure champion. My chaotic heart is enjoying this heresy sooooo much :).

At the end I didn't add the tabard because I thought I wanted him to be more like a practical fighter than a robed clerk. And also sculpting a tabard involved more time :(...

Thanks about Kheradruakh, I've seen a couple of conversions of him, but all based on the old mandrakes, he isn't a popular character and wasn't too good rules-wise in sixth edition.

Looking forward to seeing how these DA come on, then to see what you do with the DG after :-)

Thanks brother, I'm also looking forward to the DG, I already miss the dark gods and I've only been a couple of days under the service of the corpse-emperor ;).

Borrow ahead, as I said to Ciler I like this heresy, let the corruption of chaos spread!

Some fantastic work, great to see you creating different models! For the lieutenant a tabard would be nice but why not try sculpting some robes to finish it off? Definitely looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks Vairo, sculpting some robes would have been a great idea if I hadn't to give this models to my customer tomorrow afternoon ;)... Which is a shame, because I actually like robes a lot.

Thanks for showing interest guys, I have a short deadline here and need as much motivation as possible! The good news are they they're almost finished, between yesterday and today I've done most of the job, now I just need to do the bases, add some free hands and fix a couple of things (if you spot anything that needs fixing please tell me) unless I've missed something else. However if you have some other suggestion that I might be able to execute in half a day please don't doubt to comment!

And they're finished! A small Dark Angel primaris force in three days, new personal record!

Quite happy with how this turned out for being such hastily painted, it was an intense experience, but now I have a ton of DG models to calmly convert and paint for my army! :tongue.:

And, as I like doing lately, a display video, with some extra images: https://youtu.be/V5XYSvmsSb0 . And yes, the music is the Unforgiven, of Metallica, I thought it was fitting :P.

Any comments will be welcome, I can't change the models now, but I might as well learn from what I've done wrong so that I don't commit the same error again!
