Ghorgul Posted April 16, 2017 Share Posted April 16, 2017 Fingers crossed they take the time to fix the 'eternally garbage units' in the changeover - Rampagers, Destroyers etc +1 Although Recon Squad is not "eternally garbage unit", it could really use a buff. Sniper Rifles currently are useless if you take in to account the price you pay for them. Their statistical ability to Snipe relevant models from units is close to zero, unless you take like 10 of them, but then you have 300+ pts unit that does actually nothing, except stand at objective. My suggestions for their buffing would be, assuming armor save modifier is coming: 1. Give Sniper Rifle Standard 4+ wounding, no S, but AV modifier that is more powerful than standard bolters etc., like -2 or -3. Reasoning: Fluffwise Sniper Rifles and Recons should be one of the Standard ways to take out artillery units. This does not work at all atm. Taking out rapiers with snipers is very difficult, unless you take 300+ pts unit, but then you will be destroying 100-150 pts units with 300 pts, and even that takes several turns. 2. Give them Infiltrate without Recon Armor switch. Reasoning: So many units can get Auspex that if this becomes too powerful, it's opponent's own fault. In total, I consider these buffs to be able to increase the units playability and threat potential so it can 1) do some actual damage without being overpowered 2) not be this kind of stand-around unit that enemy can ignore with zero drawback.
