First off I would like to warn everyone that I am a pretty slow painter and I have a tendency to jump around to different projects a lot. My goal with this thread is to keep me motivated and working on a project, especially since my guard army is rather small right now and I am a little burnt out on power armor at the moment. My plan so far is to wait until ETL to start really painting, so right now I just want to show off all the stuff I have built and a couple test models for a paint scheme. I'm at work currently so I can't start posting pictures yet, but I should have some up tonight or tomorrow! Scions, tauroxes (since I am one of the few people who seem to like the model!), and a Doomhammer are some of what you can expect to see here. I like how the camo looks too, I wanted a more urban camo look as I kind of envisioned them fighting in hive cities and what not. I agree about the boots, I will probably end up doing black boots like on the commissar. As that was a test model, the desert boots were something that I wanted to test and see how it looked. However, I think they draw the eye away from the rest of the model too much, since like you said, the rest of the model is very dark. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Plus, I'm so used to just painting rhinos that a huge centerpiece model like a baneblade seems pretty intimidating... is it bad that I want another one already? Unfortunately they are email me only at GW right now or I may have already gotten another one! Also, thanks! Wickedtoast Posted April 12, 2017 Share Posted April 12, 2017 Boot color is hard sometimes to match up to the right camo. I'd say a *really* dark brown (in line with what Inso and duz_ are talking about), or maybe a dark, dark, matte gray. If there was one thing I learned about boots in any sort of camo combination, black boots stand out the most (its just a large, black object that isn't broken up in any way, unlike the uniform just above it). I have been trying to find a suitable model to represent my commander in my company command squad. I couldn't just use the commander in the command squad box since I am using those as my platoon commanders, so I figured it was time to do some kitbashing! So I fit one of the slimmer Horus Heresy plasmas onto a guardsman. The only downside to making plasma gunners like that is that most of the left hands are attached to rifles so I need to play around with bits to see if I can make some different poses.
