+++ =][= NO ETL THIS YEAR =][= +++

Recommended Posts

If you didn't see the announcement in the N&R here, Capt. Semper will not be running the ETL this year for a combination of personal reasons and unknown changes that 8th might bring.

I know a lot of you were already planning for the ETL which just shows how much it impacted the site in the last five years, but don't let that stop you from you trying accomplish what you might have done in the first place in the spirit of such a memorable event.

Did we ever finish the March of the Legions? We've got a spare couple of months now....

No we didn't and I keep forgetting to start that back up.

PLEEEEEAAAAAASSSSEEEEE! biggrin.png

I still have all the bits I need for the last 4 legions! It's exactly what I need to bring my hobby mojo back to life!

Intraforum Challenge would be easy to run. Traitors vs. Loyalists. One of the more ambitious young'uns could try and run it.

Hello, overly ambitious young 'un here. :P I'd be willing to, if anyone's interested (have a little bit of experience now trying to run events and will have the time to actually do so by the time we'd normally have the ETL.)  However, I know of several other projects that are being discussed, and I don't want to step on anyone's toes, especially so soon following L&T, which is sorta our little corner's main event... That being said, if the interest is there.

Without trying to sound outright rude or condescending, I don't think you should throw your hand in the ring as an event organiser/moderator...the Tale of 20 Hobbyists event that you started almost 6 months ago saw you drop completely off the map not 2 months in. Having been one of the members of that group who has continued the event "Moderator-less", I can safely say that alot of your initial enthusiasm quite quickly dried up. Again, The Psycho, I dont mean to make this a personal attack on you but the ETL, or a slightly smaller scale Loyalists vs Traitors event, will be a huge undertaking that I would argue requires as much, if not, more time and effort to run then it does to simply participate. Seriously, the work Captain Semper has done for previous ETL and L&T events is phenomenal, his professionalism and enthusiasm will be very hard matched by any of us.

Personally I am a fan of doing the March of the Legions again, I never got to participate the first time, although I did follow it. Maybe refreshing that event would be the way to go, we could even expand to Imperial Army, Talons of the Emperor and Mechanicum.

You probably are right, of course. Regards the Tale... there was a lot, both in my personal life and elsewhere, that contributed to my disappearance, though, of course, that does not justify it, nor excuse it. If I run another event (which I would say is unlikely) there will be far more structure and preparation on my part to make certain that anything like that does not happen again.

I've gotten a few PMs about something to do for replacing the ETL this year, and there's already a lot of discussion about similar thing going on between mods. I'll throw these ideas in there and we'll let you know when we come up with something.

Regarding the March of Legions, I've also been thinking about not only expanding it to include Custodes/Sisters of Silence, Solar Auxilia, and Mechanicum, but doing away with the time frame for entries and then locking the completion threads so anyone who might have missed something the first time around (or never saw it in the first place) can participate as well.

I surely understand Capt. Semper's reasons for not running the ETL. I will keep good thoughts for his personal challenges. I also agree with a hiatus while waiting to see what 8th edition brings. That said, the news of a cancelled ETL sort of shook me. You mean the sun doesn't always set in the west? Gravity isn't constant? Stuff doesn't always flow downhill?

I have minis set aside for ETL that will happily volunteer for any other type of challenge. Now that completing WFFDN has given me a bit more confidence, I feel I can successfully complete other challenges. The motivation to paint has been awesome!
