Prot's Grey Knight Shadow War Stuff

So I'm not sure how far I'm going with this... I have so many projects I'm involved in I may be spreading myself too thin.

That being said I've enjoyed my Grey Knight games. It has dawned on me I can use Grey Knight rules for Deathwatch which is all but ignored in this campaign, but back to Grey Knights I looked at this as an opportunity to do some new models for this.

That said I did bring some Purifier stand ins, but the non-white helmet dudes are either entirely new or were just started previous to Shadow Wars:

I got some heavies in there, and I am starting a new leader (red tabard and a 'counts as' Stave). The other guys just have swords and I wanted to get the airbrush out for the power weapons but they're only halfway done, and the fig themselves just started using a slightly different method from my Purifiers (older models).

The new guys will have more 'blue hues' in 'darker' areas of the armour. You can probably see it a bit in the pics. I did not want it to be overwhelming, but just a sense of a 'righteous glow'.

Also I finished my box set terrain and took a few pics:

Thank you.

Well I'm running two lists for the two campaigns.

But the basics are very similar to what everyone else is running with Grey Knights because the limitations are hard on our Gunner options.

Right now I have a Psilencer on a Gunner and they all have a Stave, and Stormbolters, with Range Scopes. The leader has Twin Falchions (haven't made close combat yet), and my model count is 4 (including the 2 gunners). One gunner is still just using his Stormbolter though. My hope is next game to get him up to a Psycannon!

Once that happens I can concentrate on gear for everyone, while hopefully affording a specialist here and there.

What are your thoughts on Psybolt?

I think it's a little overcosted, even with Telescopic sights on the Stormbolters. (I don't see any reason you can't combine them). I have Sights on everything, but the cost of the Psybolt is so high, I didn't figure this out until my second campaign list was made. It only took a few games to realize I should have used my opening points elsewhere.

But it's a learning experience... I would just advise anyone to leave that as a last upgrade because the thing is with GK you can only get up to 5 guys (plus specialists) anyway so unless your dudes are going straight out of action and then dying (or worse!) then you'll have the points at the end.

The challenge I'm finding is the numerical issue. We aren't any harder to hit so it's very easy once you get up to 1500 point games (effectively) to be facing a guy that may have most of your army pinned.

That's just my take on it, but the Psybolts seem like great alternative sniper rounds. Just a little too pricey imho.
