@jbird the game was really good and a lot of fun, the best part for me was synergising my characters with my units to bring some really good buffs that i thought would really add an extra layer to my army, it also helps that the sanguinor, sanguinary guard and mephiston are all great it would appear this edition so i'm very happy with it so far.

The "hits automatically" is not a modifier to BS.

If the flamer didn't have that rule, it would have a -1 modifier for moving and shooting.

As the flamer rule does not apply a modifier, then the overwatch rules caveat doesn't apply.

I tried to find this on the weapon previews but no luck relating to overwatch and its interaction with conflicting rules sadly.

I just noticed that the sternguard special issue bolter is ap-2. I was just thinking it was a longer range bolter, But that's pretty nice. A unit of 10 in cover could make a pretty decent shooting unit, Though I can't decide if 190 would be too expensive for what they do, when I could buy nearly 2 assbacks for that price. Still, with the way wounding works, they wound most non-heavy vehicles on 5's, and drop their saves to a 5+. It's pretty good all around I think.

Skipping through the vehicle stats, I saw that the Vindicator has a toughness of 8 instead of the default 7. Is this because of the siege shield?

Probably. The Hunter and Stalker both have T8 also. Note that all 3 have M10 instead of M12 like other Rhino chassis.

I ordered Index Imperial 1 at my LFGS yesterday, as I'm not too needy for more things to paint. I'm hoping basic rules and index will carry me for now, and I can borrow store copies of the books to use the missions out of.

I got a Tempestus force assembled, and inquisitor and retinue stuff, but I'd rather play some BA and learn the system before branching out too much.

New addition, about the Campaign characters:

Arenos Karlaen (BA 1st) > gone

Kyrin Solaq (RG 5th) > gone

Krom Dragongaze (SW drakeslayers) > got his own rules

Just ranting.

Karlaen is because his model is just sold as "BA Terminator Captain" now.... For some unknown reason.

Solaq is only available as part of the "Company Command" box, which is the command squad with his model - now just a generic captain.

Krom was released as his own model so he got rules.

A shame but eh, whatcha gunna do.

Another clarification: If the model says it could take something from the melee weapons list, could we give them an encarmine weapon? Sanguinary Priests seem to be the BA specific unit this could apply to, but I'm not sure of the "basic" stuff like Tacticals, Assault Squads, etc.

EDIT: Looked at a few, and the Assault Squad sergeant and any Vanguard Veteran can replace weapons from the Melee Weapons List, which our chapter entries add to, but the other sergeants, like tacticals, scouts, and sternguard, can choose from the Sergeant's Equipment List.

No. The wargear breakout on pg 89 says BA units add hand flamers & inferno pistols to the 'pistol' and 'sergeant' lists, and heavy flamers are added to the 'heavy weapons' list. No additional melee weapons are added. This means, in this case, that encarmine weapons are only available to those datasheets that specifically list them as a wargear option. That's sanguinary guard and SG ancient for encarmine sword and axe, and sanguinor for encarmine broadsword - I don't think any other units have it listed off the top of my head.

Which sucks hard. A Blood Angel Librarian cant have a inferno pistol.

Guess I will stick with 4 heavy flamers devastator until BA got their own dex.

Thanks! I make money for models by being a lawyer, but I paint way more than I spend my free or hobby time giving close, analytical textual breakdowns of the rules. I do it enough for work! Heck, when a rules dispute comes up at my table, I just offer to dice off or do it the way the opponent says. I fight too much at work to do so in the hobby. lol.

Librarians have access to pistols. So can get inferno

Aw mahnnn... Still probably going to do it though 4 attacks on the charge each still adds up to 40 with re-rolls if i get astorath nearby... and if the Sanguinor is nearby as well its back up to 5 :biggrin.:

Plus it will hopefully look cool :)
