2000 pt Headhunter leviathal

Howdy folks,

This is my first list for 30k. Let me know what you think. I'll be using skorr and mutable tactics to customize my list on the go. Headhunter squads are there to infiltrate up and kill infantry. Jet bikes and speeders are there for mobility. I know the headhunter leviathal isn't the most powerful RoW but i want to keep it for fluffly reasons.

Also suggestions for upping to 2500 and 3000 points. I definitely want to add Alpharius.

Fee things you desperately need more anti armour. I'd drop the plasma cannon sky slayers as they can't jink and fire or flat out and fire and swap them for multi melta ones which don't do to bad.

A squad of 3 volkite jetbikes probably won't do to much either.

If you like exodus you can keep him but he's pretty awful as he can't even kill sergeants with ap3.

For headhunters is probably keep them even cheaper as really they are a huge amount of points.

You are probably better off dropping the apothecaries and dropping the tac squads instead take either seekers or veterans both can score and add a lot more damage.

Your lone sicaran also going to die real fast like maybe he lives just your turn. Is say change him out for quad mortars with shatter shells. They are far harder to kill and you get a lot more milage with them in this type of list vs the sicaran.

But just remember if you choose to run this right you really need to focus on not bleeding victory points and without the ability to kill many things or really hurt a primarchs at all you'll find your opponent walks out with an extra 2 every game.

I second dropping the plasma on the scimitars.

Given your list I'd probably opt for two units of 4-5 with plain multi meltas in them since you need more anti-tank for sure.

Get the hell rid of Exodus please, he's so sucky it hurts. Get a Saboteur or another some force multiplier consul to boost your infantry units. A Praevian with some Darkfire Castellax could be beneficial in this sort of list as well.

Yes, like Purge the Daemon mentioned, please drop the plain Tacs. You'll need better or more specialised scoring units after your initial wave of Headhunters has perished.

And those Headhunters will go down like a ten dollar you-know-what ... so don't specialise them, keep them as cheap as possible. Fist, Dagger & Artificer on the sergeant, ditch all other upgrades and invest in units than mop up after the Headhunters.

Skorr is a great HQ, especially for the ability to adapt to the enemy by selecting his WL trait. But given that Leviathal literally requires you to take down the enemy HQ, it might be worth looking into a character that might bring down an enemy Praetor or similar character in melee, which Skorr can't.

Sorry for any weird typos, just got up from sleep after an 48 hrs shift, blergh.

Hey I've made a few changes. Switched out HQ for Dynat (+1 pen and deepstrike). I could save some points with a meled praetor. Added another squad of headhunters and a xiphon. I do have 100 points left over. I could add a melee veteran squad. Thoughts?

I've been looking at HH Leviathal lately too. As has been suggested, drop down to 2 units of Headhunters - that fulfills your Compulsory Troops. With the saved points, I'd take a Tactical Support Squads and a Veteran Squad:

- Support Squad can have volkite calivers, which Dynat can join and give +1BS to. They can sit backfield in a Bunker with comms relay, helping your Reserves.

- Vets can have meltaguns and combi-meltas, which Dynat can Deep Strike accurately for a nice anti-armour kill team.

Javelins are ace. I would add 2 hunter-killer missiles to each though. Xiphon isn't amazing, but it's an awesome model, so give it a whirl.

Sky Slayers are ok, but what you really need is a Leviathan! It will arrive Turn 1, blast away at what you need it to, and rampage through the opponent's lines. :)

Try this:

HQ

Armillus Dynat: Rite of War (Headhunter Leviathal) xxx

TROOPS

6 Headhunters: Headhunter Prime (artificer armour; power fist; combi-plasma); 5 Headhunters; 4 × combi-plasma; heavy bolter and suspensor web 270

6 Headhunters: Headhunter Prime (artificer armour; power fist; combi-plasma); 5 Headhunters; 4 × combi-plasma; heavy bolter and suspensor web 270

8 Tactical Support Marines: Tactical Support Sergeant; 7 Tactical Support Marines; volkite calivers 185

ELITES

10 Veteran Space Marines: Veteran Sergeant (artificer armour; combi-melta; power fist; power dagger); Machine Killers; 9 Veteran Space Marines; 7 × combi-meltas; legion vexilla; melta bombs; 2 × meltagun 335

FAST ATTACK

Xiphon Pattern Interceptor: ground-tracking auguries 215

HEAVY SUPPORT

Leviathan Pattern Siege Dreadnought Talon

Leviathan Pattern Siege Dreadnought: grav-flux bombard; 2 × torso-mounted twin-linked volkite caliver; armoured ceramite; phosphex discharger 335

Dreadnought Drop Pod xxx

FORTIFICATIONS

Wall of Martyrs Imperial Bunker: Ammo Store; Comms Relay 90

Force Organisation Chart: Crusade

Legiones Astartes: Alpha Legion (Tank Hunters); Traitor

2,000 points

Yeah, I would do a straight swap - 3 Javelins with CMLs, HKMs and multi-meltas is 225, so maybe drop the Leviathan's calivers. That would be my preference!

And thanks Unknown_Legionnaire! :) As with most of the best lists, it was made in 5 minutes flat! (after thinking about it for days...)
