BitsHammer
So my Crusade may get trapped in the warp for thousands of years... Almost makes you feel bad for the Daemons stuck there with us. A trip could take thousands of years or only a few seconds while time outside flows differently. Basically: the warp is full of plot convenient shenanigans and is perfect for mucking with as needed. EDIT: Just had a thought....they could use the EC's visions from the Emperor to guide them. Stronger the visions, closer they are to where they need to be. Bjorn Firewalker
EDIT: Just had a thought....they could use the EC's visions from the Emperor to guide them. Stronger the visions, closer they are to where they need to be. BAD IDEA. If the Emperor's Champion's visions are accurate enough to let him serve as a Navigator (a MUTANT) or a psyker... what differentiates him from an actual mutant or psyker? "Faith in the Emperor" is not enough of an explanation, or the Inquisition (whose WITCHES claim the same) would not be subject to the suspicion it's viewed with. Ciler
Keep in mind that the role of navigators is to allow "long distance" journeys through the warp. Before navigators and the astronomican, humanity was already able to travel, although over much shorter distances. As has been said before i don't see this being an issue for Templars. Move from one system to the next, if unclean, purge, then move one, rince and repeat. Only problem I could see is returning to established chapter keeps to resupply. BitsHammer
Bjorn: the idea was a loose one and more based on the premise tha the Emperor is able to guide the champion where to go and give him a specific things to kill, he could likely lead the way even if it was a vague directional sort of thing. Short hops will likely be the be the method of choice for most for sure. "Faith in the Emperor" is not enough of an explanation, or the Inquisition (whose WITCHES claim the same) would not be subject to the suspicion it's viewed with. The problem is - an emergent EC actually DOES get visions from the Emperor. Just like Emps has the Firetide, his "angels" on the verge of the Astronomicon's light hitting the Eye (and now probably the whole Scar!), he sends communiques to the faithful and those in need. The Navigators are not random mutants, like you'd find in the rad wastes of Baal, for example - they are an Imperial gene-cultivated strain of humanity that has a literal third eye that looks into the Warp and is able to do it fairly safely (but it is very taxing for them). A Crusade following an EC's visions on short jumps seems like a quite fair fluff idea.
